WATCH THIS BEFORE YOU START LIGHT SHORE JIGGING
Light shore jigging is something that should be popular all over the world - surprisingly, it isn't.
I know a lot of people want to get into it but even in this day and age there's hardly proper information available to those that know nothing of it - often times, it is these guys that get victimized by unscrupulous sales men that want to earn a quick buck...I hope this video at the very least gives you guys - the perspective light slow jiggers, an insight to what you need and what you don't need so when you go to the shop to check things out, you already know what to look for.

This is one of the more informative videos I've seen. Good stuff! Look forward to the shore jigging special!
Thanks :)
One if your best videos yet! I learn something new every day 👍🏼
Awesome! Thank you!
very brave to have line connection knot spooled on reel. More often than not, i forget after reeling fish to release fluorocarbon from reel and reel it back loosely, cuz it is prone of tangling, especially thinner ones. Good thing to point out for new guys
It's one of your best videos, I rate it a golden one, I hope you make more of this
Thanks master
Just found your channel kit. Outstanding content with emphasis on practical application for beginners and experts. I only SW fish for 3 months in winter vacationing in FL Tampa Bay area. I am land based mainly piers and beach. I want to purchase one of the two rods discussed in your presentation with import via Japan. I DO WADE into the surf to access the fishable structure often and get the reel plashed/dunked. With that in mind I prefer a totally sealed reel. Unfortunately, they are heavy - Tsunami SaltX II 3000 with 11.8 OZ is my choice. Most likely a balancing issue. I would appreciate your Input please. Bait size is between 2 and 5 inches. Target species snappers. Spanish Macharel etc. Occasionally larger Pelagic Species.
Hi Hubert, the wade fishing there is very different - however, check out the Twin Power XD, as far as sealing goes, this was made for a bit of wading, however, I can not guarantee that it would be like a van staal.
@@TheFishingKit Thanks for your quick reply and input. The Tsunami SALT X Gen II is the hottest surf fishing reel on the market here and on par with the Van Staal VS50 for 1/2 the price: $ 400 vs $ 800. Getting back to my question: Is an 11.8 OZ reel SUITABLE for the Crosride 5G rods discussed in this video,.especially the 9'4" rod?
@@hubertstoffel1820 The Japanese System is different from the American System, you can use it, but it will feel weird and wont function the way it's supposed to.
@@TheFishingKit I appreciate your input!
Another good share Kit. Thanks
The father of UAE LSJ in the house!
Hey kit, great video as always. It was perfect timing for me as I’m actually planning on building a LSJ setup at the moment. Have you used both the 1G and 5G crossride? Is the 5G worth the extra money? I’m looking forward to your upcoming video’s out on the water, I’m sure I’ll learn even more!
I have not used the current 1g but i have an old 1G and the current 5G - i made a video of the 5G in a recent video. The 5g is very light. I will do a video on the previous genetation and then i might be able to compre them better
Changing my combos to correct things. Been wrongly building up things 😭😭😭
😷
Instead of jigging can I fish top water lures like pencils and spinners with an lsj rod?
@@AbslutZr topwater stickbaits work well with shore jigging rods, spinners like what the americans call spinners - havent tried, so i can't really say - but if its what australins call spinners, yup works well with those 😄
Hello kit I have never used a leader line I just use straight 15lb monofilament or 30lb braided fishing line maybe 50lb braided fishing line with no ledier line kit can I fish a 40g metal jigs on a ugly stick gx2 medium action rod combo
Wont teally wotk as well as a prooer shore jigging rod
Thanks for new video Kit!
What type of knot you prefer to connect leader and jig or leader and lure?
to make things simple, a well tied uni knot always works...if I have more time, I will use a chain knot.
@@TheFishingKit Thank you
How much line would you recommend is needed for this type of setup? I live in North America and the reel selection is very different compared to JDM models. We have a lot of deep spool spinning reels that have additional capacity. Wonder if a 2500D (300m capacity at PE #1) would be suitable even though you mentioned 4000-5000 reels.
I currently have a Daiwa Over There 103M (Length: 3.12m, Lure: 10-50g) on the way.
2500 can work, but since the spool is smaller, your casts will be a lot closer, so you cover less ground. You can use a 4000, but that also means you need to use heavier jigs and your rods would also sling heavier jigs...so 10g would be off the menu, which is basically the killer for shore jigging.
@@TheFishingKit Corrected my previous comment. Rod is rated for 10-50g. Thanks for the advice!
Hi Kit. How many grams do you cast safely with 0.6 PE and 0.8 PE? is there a practical formula that you use? and of course the leaders, for 10 lb what should be the max weight to cast without snapping?
Not really a formula per se....the Reel's job is to hold line, take back line and to give the line resistance when pulled. The Line's job is to be a carrier for all this - the diameter helps it cut through air resistance and water resistance and brings the lure or bait to the fish and is a medium to be wind the fish in. The diameter (0.6, 0.8) dictates how much line can be wound on the spool of your reel....now...what's the missing part of this equation? that's your answer...literally lists it there.
@@TheFishingKit Sorry, my fault. i meant e.g. 10 lb for 0.6 PE diameter or 12 lb for 0.8 PE diameter. Do you cast 15 gr. jigpara with 10 lb line and leader? i am asking for snapping factor and line wear out.
@@roland_des8527 I have yet to have the line snap on me when I cast. Wear factor of the braid on casting isn't a problem as I have leaders long enough to wrap at least twice on the reel. On my LSJ I cast up to 30g on my combo with the lightest at 7g.
@@TheFishingKit Fully understood. Thanks for your time and the videos.
😊
Thank you so much i never be Abel to Make a combo for Shore Ligh jiging you Make the best videos tou realy learn i am sorry for my English in my country i ha e bought always the rong set kit what do you think about cea a or first cast from major craft and from shimano be ou se i Donat have much money but i love fishing and you are the best teacher i Ever have thank you so much
No worries! Just save up and get the best you can. First Cast is ok. :)
Great video for experienced and newbie anglers alike. I bought a Majorcraft Solpara 9’6 MH Rod for my first shore jigging Rod but I’ve been using a 5000 stradic with PE 1.2 on it. Is that reel too big for that Rod?
what's the specs of the rod?
@@TheFishingKit 9’6 MH 15-45g.
@@DanielKarpathios yes, that rod balances with a 3000 shimano.
@@TheFishingKit I have a Vanford 3000 lying around. I’ll try it out. Thanks again for the content and your advice !
@@DanielKarpathios awesome. :)
Hi kit, what about using shorter leader like 4-6 ft combine with low visibility braid color? I think it needs to be considered. So it might be possible to reduce the impact of the ring guide with the braid+leader knot. Apart from that, we also use a fishing rod that is long enough to allow that to be done
Or just learn how to tie knots that go thru the guides easier?
6:10 3m was correct :) subbed
I dont get it but, welcome aboard!
Just what i need! Thanks alot kit! Please shows us how to cast, and work this different type of jigs.
Which jig paras do you like using for 10 to 15g and 20 to 30g that we can buy in the US? Or any jig you can recommend we can buy here in US. Appreciate the content as always!
You can but jigpara in the us - check the majocraft usa website
Hi Kit , is it also good to use lsj set up for squid fishing ?
No.
This is the world where less is more
less hardware, less worries!
30:53 how do you have to wait after you lift your rod up?
I don't understand your question
@@TheFishingKit how many minute do you wait after you lift up the rod ?
@@vsonic86 I recommend you watch the video because I say exactly what you need to do after each cast.
@@TheFishingKit I watched it and I don’t understand on that part. That is why I ask?
@@vsonic86 so you missed the part where I said you wait for it to reach the bottom then reel up the slack and work the jig?
majorcraft is mid tier for you, and here in south europe is the cheapest. Obviously we are getting ripped off in years haha
The top end of Majorcraft is Mid tier at best. Top end rods would be the likes of Yamaga, Ripplefisher etc. Even the "cheap" rods of Yamaga would be better than the best majorcrafts. Europe is late when it comes to rods compared to what we have here in the UAE because unlike Europe, we deal with the companies straight so we get things faster.
