Well, they're back - about the domination of the german silver arrows
- new formula, 2.5 litre NA
- MB return and in 54 and 55 (with a few exceptions) totally trash the field, just like in the good old days of the 1930s after the death of Auto Union's Bernd Rosemeyer
- they introduce mechanical direct injection, windtunnel streamlined bodies; and where planning to use 4WD system witch allowed front wheel auto-gearing to a form of mechanical traction control - launch control
- for those not driving a silver car it's quite hopeless - Авто та транспорт
WOW that was excellent. Some AMAZING film footage, really really really enjoyed this thanks for posting 😮😮😮
It's incredible how long it took racing car builders to realize porsche had put the engine in the right place decades earlier.
This series is like stumbling over a Goldpot. Thankyou. A funny side fact to me as a german is that even the highest developed Mercedes racing machine sports their super conservative fabric pattern on the seat (8:27). Like the old southern german oak sofa under a wagon wheel lamp.
Awesome comment 😊 Thank you!!
Thanks for putting this up, great documentary
thank you for uploading these
Interesting to see that Fangio always seemed to be able to pick the team which was going to have the best car that year. Contrast that with current GP driver Fernando Alonso!
Drivers were so brave then
the maserati 250 f was one of the most successful racing cars in the history of racing.. especially for the period. fangio went where the best cars were to be found, thats why he chose a maserati 250 f and that alone is enough to prove my point.
In the 50's, Mercedes already experimented with variable inlet lengths on their F1 cars, as well as 4wd. Quite staggering how far ahead they were from a technical point of view
Imagine what could have happened if they didn't pull out in 55 after the accident
please. please, please get part 3 on here......frustrating not getting to watch the last part of this awesome documentry

What did that call that fire pump engine powered John Cooper car???
Coventry climax
I think they named it "The Fire Pump Engine Powered John Cooper Car".
That Coventry Climax engine went on to be developed for the Hillman Imp.
Any update on how to get to part 3?

@@Gazza__Gasser saved the page and got part 3 downloaded
I still do not understand why the Mercedes were allow to race what looks more like a "sports" car "closed wheeled body, than an "open wheeled" F -1 car? Yeah, they say "streamlined", but it seems unfair to the competitors.............?
Yardbird68
I presume back then that there was no rule specifically prohibiting the use of streamlined bodies.

Why are parts 1 and 2 here but we have to click on another link for part 3?
Sorry, see youtube police, ©️ issues 🙄
@@Gazza__Gasser Wonder why they didn't harass you about parts 1 and 2 then?

At 11:28 that is a bunch of crap . The German cars was and always will be better than any Italian car . That was a bias statement .
@jeffmullinix7916 - Not true, me boy! Find the 1935 German Grand Prix, one of the greatest GP races ever! The Germans had their Hitler funded technologically advanced Mercedes and Auto Union racing machines poised for what seemed like a certain win. They hadn't counted on the expertise and superior driving skills of Tazio Nuvolari, the finest GP driver of his time. Though he was driving an underpowered, outdated Alfa Romeo P3, he managed to pull off a huge victory beating the mighty German cars. The Germans didn't even have a record of the Italian National Anthem as they were convinced it wouldn't be needed. No problem though, as Tazio brought his own copy. The German Crowd loved his victory, but the Nazi organizers were incensed at the outcome!
