    This is exactly how I felt and the exact field I’m transitioning into. Esthetics is only enough if you’re ok with the surface level and don’t want to truly understand, fix, and heal the issue medically which is technically why we all mostly go into it. Entrepreneurship is better because our checks at jobs somehow never add up. So keep going girl, very motivating.

    • @khylaj

      That’s so refreshing to know someone is in a similar situation! And yes I agree I worked in a Derm office with a lot of rich and unfortunately pretentious clients and it just all became so vain and superficial and yeah that’s just not my passion or vibe at all so it got a little tough for me!

    • @mango8793
      @mango8793 10 місяців тому

      Is it just normal estheticians that only do surface level fixes or does medical estheticians actually make a difference into the deeper layers of the skin?

    • @IAMKevia
      @IAMKevia 10 місяців тому +4

      @@mango8793 a year later and my mindset has completely changed! No, medical estheticians are not the only esthetic professionals who can learn how to actually make a “fix” below the surface level (epidermis). I see that it is only up to you how far you will go and what you choose to learn. Some estheticians can even go as far as help calm and alleviate skin diseases. Options are wise in skincare but honestly it’s all about knowledge.

    I thought being an esthetician was my calling.. Iv been into skin care since I was 11! I’m still very passionate about it! Love fighting with age and it dose work for sure! Iv been a esthetician for years and now I just want to cry when my days are booked. I hate it. Awful. So so physically exhausting.
    Doing 7 clients a day just think about it? You are spending one on one with each client for an hour. 7 times! 7 hours of rubbing, cleaning, extracting, changing the bed cleaning process. I can’t even tell you my name at the end of the day I’m so physically exhausted. When you have repeat clients you have to be even better than the time before. There is a lot of science but it’s not that hard learning if you are passionate about it. School just teaches you the basics. Now let’s talk about the pay. You will have to depend on your tips. So if you are working at a mediocre spa with average prices you are going to be bringing home anywhere around 500-600$ a week IF you are busy. Working at a upscale spa you will make more because the prices are higher and when the prices are higher you have clients coming in that have money = bigger tips! Spas have become very greedy when it comes to raises. Basically they want you to hit a tier and that tier means you have to sell at least 3 products to every client just about in order to hit that goal for 3 months. Basically impossible! So unless you have the money to open up your own room you will never make decent living working for someone. It’s time I start a different career

      I am a licensed esthetician since 2005. I love this industry in aesthetics. I am 45 and haven’t really been practicing it for a while since i chose to stay home to raise my children full time. Now i am in a season where i have a little more time to go back to school. So now i am going to work on being an RN that way i can do needling facial procedures. If you can go back to school and get a higher education in this field would really be step to do what you love and make more money. If you still want to be in this field.

      If you’re a licensed cosmetologist I would check with state board to see what you can do within your scope of licensing. Esthetician school is overrated and you end up investing in continuing education anyway. Determine what you would like to do with skincare and purchase Milady books online, educate yourself and take classes for the services you wish to render. I’m an esthetician student and it’s not worth it if you’re already a cosmetologist and licensed to do skin care services and waxing.
