the biggest reason why i dont see a koenigsegg battery in my car is that i cant afford one
Also, maybe all the reasons he explained as to why it is highly impractical, in basically any application except for that? No?
@amarjit singh Yeah, we know. It's not a secret.
Energizer Bunny just shed a tear
What? >700hp from 66kg? Over 10hp/kg is ridiculous, someone make a 300kg version of this to power a dragster
Do dragster people have that kind of money
@@nocashirl yes, there are enough rich drag racers out there. Just look at how much top fuel racing costs...
Top fuel dragster engine 225 kg. Peak power about 10 000hp. That's more than 44hp/kg. It all needs to be rebuilt after each run though.
@@markusoswe yes, and they run nitromethane. I think it might be cheaper and faster to just put a rocket on them... and possibly slightly unsafe.
@@laurean5998 In normal drag racing, the limiting factor is grip. With a rocket engine, I suppose the limiting factor would be the driver staying conscious. With a 10G acceleration you would finish the 400m drag strip in less than 3seconds and reach a top speed close to 1000km/h. Quite unsafe both for the driver and the surrounding community as well 🙂
even the danger sign is sexy
These guys make danger so attractive 😋
525 kW with a 4.5 kWh pack, that's a C value of 116. It is more of a lightweight super cap than a battery. And it is used as a super cap to boost the power and do regenerative breaking, while adding almost no range.
Range is not the point though.
1:00 we have changed the battery cells, chemistry and the whole set up of the battery pack
3:00 the cells are used in formula 1
They probably changed it from a previous design. It's just marketing that they've made something new and talking about the way the battery cools like we don't know how to fill a radiator with glycol and use a pump to circulate it
And the 26700 battery cell is a single 3.7 volt 5 amp cell
@@cybervand 40 amp, actually.
4.5kWh and 525kW -> drain battery completely in 31 sec :O
0-400 km/h in 20 seconds. After reaching top speed, I think 1100 hp ICE is enough for cruising leisurely indefinitely.
It doesn't matter, YOU know it, and it's only temporary, so rebuke you naysayers... 👎💯
@Das Eishorn Good point. The same (similar actually) goes for LaFerrari. 2.3kWh and 120 kW -> has been draining batteries in 66 seconds since 2013! So, this must be working like that: since the car has no gears other than the top gear, the electric motors must only be working (flat out) when hardly accelerating just in order to compensate force deficit because of lacking lower gears. Then ,I do not know either, it may have an onboard charging systems like KERS (regenerate under braking or excess ICE torque) or else .... Then this must not be such a huge problem..... May someone correct me if I am wrong, I will appreciate.
@@EbmasTR You are correct, it isn't a real issue. Though the electric motors can definitely be used to accelerate hard as they have several hundred horsepower on their own and can put down more torque at a moments notice than the ICE ever could. Based on the design of their other cars having 7 clutches in their transmissions it's doubtless that a similar technique/ mechanism is used to engage and disengage the ICE from the output shaft.
@@mattv6262 It is a single clutch, single torque converter design. Nothing fancier than that. It has a 150kW kers system, and the electric motor on the crankshaft doubles as a generator. So when not using the full capacity of the ICE for acceleration, it can be used to charging the battery. Since the performance of the car is so over the top, you can't really use the available power for more than a few seconds before you run out of space, so charging the battery is never really a problem.
Will there be a video series on the Jesko?
I love that they engineer for longevity, something once American.
One of the words that don't exist in Chinese dictionary
Tesla? Christian daily a model 3.
RIMAC is winning as a technology company
Tesla
Rimac and Koenigsegg work together, Tesla is an American joke, common from that part of the world
@@alexdiezg Tesla is having to be bailed out by the US government on a monthly basis just to stay in business, despite selling mass-produced cheap cars with terrible quality issues, and they sell them for over-the-top prices. Rimac works with Koenigsegg, Porsche, Seat, Hyundai, Kia, Aston Martin, Red Bull Racing, Jaguar, Pininfarina, etc. And these are the names they can mention in public, they work with other companies as well in secrecy, most probably Audi, VW, Ferrari and Mercedes. Basically, almost every big name in the car industry that has an electric car or high performance hybrid coming out is working with Rimac. Tesla works with nobody else. And on top of all that,Rimac develop their own cars too, despite being a TINY company compared to Tesla. And they started out of nothing, with almost no money. They earned everything they have starting from a garage, literally, unlike Tesla, who had billions and billions flooded into it from various sides before they even started making cars.
So yea, if Rimac had the same amount of funding that Tesla has, they'd put Tesla out of business in about 12 minutes. They are a tiny company who do more work and bring more benefits to the car industry than Tesla, which is like 1000 times larger as a company. Ironically, Nikola Tesla, who Tesla company is named after, comes from the same country as Rimac.
BeyerT1 , it’s much easier to build cars in low volume, this isn’t a secret. Tesla is unquestionably the leader in electric cars and electric technology. It isn’t even close. Koenigsegg himself drives a Tesla and has talked extensively on how impressed he is with them as a company. No one can take anything away from Rimac, and why would they. The make exciting cars. And as far as I’m concerned, Koenigsegg make the best engineered cars ever produced. But you can’t really compare Tesla to them. As far as the government giving them money, that had little impact on Tesla as a company. It was a one time loan, not a monthly cash outlay as you mentioned. If I were offered a few Billion dollars with low interest, I’d probably take it too. That loan was paid off a long time ago with interest while other car companies defaulted on the loans. You seem to be very angry at Tesla? Not sure why? They are trying to make the world better for everyone. Not many companies are doing that. And note that many of there parents are open for others to use!

Human Doing's comment says it all.
What is the immersion fluid used to cool batteries in Koenigsegg Regera?
Is the Electron rocket using something similar? It needs to output 1 MW for about 4 minutes or so on the first stage.
Does this fit in a Prius?
Whats better carbon or graphene batteries? Seem some crazy stuff with the latter.
"You will only see these cells in performance vehicles."
Um, and in cordless electric power tools, remote control models, and flashlights, etc.
The IMR-26700A cell is quite common. Well, maybe not in Sweden (perhaps they are still trying to catch up).
Pretty sure he was speaking about the chemistry, not the the form factor.
They aren't using the regular Li-Ion type that you are talking about. As HidingAllAway says, they are talking about chemistry. Do you really think a technology is old just because it has the same phýsical dimensions as something old?
I’ve been dying to see a review of Regera but until now none can’t find one which I find extremely weird being that’s it been out for almost 2 years.
Here's a review by Mr JWW ua-cam.com/video/t4cPtI8p0v0/v-deo.html
Thank you
Therefore, it's very important..
Because it uses a special chemistry therefore it's very important
One way to cool it is to drive it in subzero temps in Skåne, on a windy snowy day 😁
Nonsense, it almost never snows in Skåne! 😂
True.
Try Happaranda.
Casually cruising through the streets of Lund with your Regera :D
Small baterry + high power output= short run time.
And short lifespan
Interesting fact : Tesla is working on a project that uses this kind of batteries. During their battery development, they experimented the idea of a hybrid battery that could have long range capabilities as well as high power when needed.
It's for acceleration not driving distances so you don't need a long runtime
It's a hypercar, not a daily driver.
Recognize the purpose of the car.
It REALLY doesn't matter. He's still the quickest son of a bitch in the world buddy, so NO-ONE cares about a short lifespan on the battery, ESPECIALLY when you KNOW for a fucking fact that Christian is probably designing a better, more efficient, lighter, hypercar focused battery pack 🔋. He's still laughing all the way to the Bank O' Swede!!!... 🤔💯
Hard to believe that Greta lives in the same country
Leave the room for swearing in public please. This is a family show! Have you no shame for uttering that word? 😋
Garry Mills 😂😂😂
I thought she was norwegian? Never mind
Christian has respect for her.

This one made me subscribe.
They say that this has a special type of cell with a higher power density and performance. I guess the upcoming Tesla Roadster would have such battery tech. To enable such amazing performance musk has promised. They say that it’s too expensive. But Tesla’s sheer scale would make it affordable. Plus they’re in China where all raw materials are available.
Gold is also affordable.
So rimac is good at burst power, and tesla is striving for efficiency and range.
Did not know they were working with Rimac.
Dad my car i need a jumpstart... ok son im firing up the Regera be there soon..😐
you wont find that type of battery in any car but a koenigsegg full stop? Unless you want to run approx the same amperage in you car its that simple, so maybe a electric car ,then make up the running gear and then pay for the use of the battery unit for your car its that simple?
Levels soon levels
Man...dream job to work here. Would love to input my ideas. A lot of the stuff they do I swear I would have come up with haha
Execution is what counts buddy 😉
I’m with you on working there. I love how they take everything to an OCD level. It is right up my alley. Pushing the limits with perfection. Looking forward to hearing a freevalve motor in a four seat hypercar.
Through the Apex exactly. Every single part is thought about and engineered to perfection. They machine their logo in every bolt, whether you can see it or not. Pretty sure the only thing they dont produce in house is the tires...awesome to have a level of control over the build process like that. Jeez I would give anything to ask about/discuss every aspect of an Egg with CVK... even just to have some time alone looking through one.

So... Starliner and Atlas V are just chopped liver then?
Don't get me wrong, Crew Dragon is a major step forward for American spaceflight. But it's not as revolutionary as people make it out to be.
Yup, it's just another privately owned space crew rocket. I bought a couple books on Amazon and built the exact same thing in my barn, at a much lower cost. I just need to find a couple people with some BALLS to go up in it. I'll even include some chopped liver sammiches.
Never used in a full ev... the power will be... ye...it MUST BE DONE!!!! UNLIMITED POWER!!!
525kW out of a ~6kg package
.....Because I drive a 2006 Alfa Romeo GT. That's why I won't see it in my car
4:20 the power pack would never be used in a full EV car; it will be too expensive and the power will be...yeah. How much money do you want to be it _will_ be used in a fully electric car one day? He talks about this as if there isn't someone out there with enough money and will to do it. There's always someone crazy enough to do anything, if it's in the realm of the possible.
I'm guessing the biggest issue is lifespan. If you actually use that much power all the time, it wouldn't last long. And if you're not using it, it's not worth the price. So it only makes sense for a powerful and expensive hybrid, rather than something that's using the batteries for everything.
"You will never use it in a full ev car". He also says rimac that is a performance brand does not use the same cell.
@@frippesfrilla7592 Yeah, I was wondering about that statement as well. Why wouldn't they use it on their own cars?
@@jamesaron1967 Because there's a difference between fully electric cars that depend only on batteries and use battery power 100% of the time, and HYBRID systems which only use batteries partially and to help the main engine to work. There's no reason to use such high density batteries for fully electric cars, they would be too expensive and the benefits would be minimal for that application, with massive drawbacks. You would just get a lot of power, but no range at all, lots of heat problems, and very long charging times. In a hybrid system the battery can be constantly charged and kept up with the actual engine, in an EV, it can't. To put it simply, you don't want rocket boosters on your car that will work for 30 seconds and use up a cars weight of fuel, even though they'll make the car go much faster for those 30 seconds than any car engine could. You actually want an engine, so that the car will move for a long time.
That's not to say that in the future, batteries like these or even better will be in fully electric cars. Certain Chinese companies are working on completely new battery tech that might revolutionize the EV cars.
Yeah, but at that point why not just use normal battery with some super capacitor, that should keep the cost down while still providing maximum burst power for accelerating.
As the responsible for the EV part, at least pronounce the Rimac name right ("Rimats").
then spell it with the proper c
...
Therefore , 7 times per minute....
Because it uses a special chemistry therefore it's very important therfore it is a special therfore.
Should have been a 4min video if he didnt repeat himself constantly 😅
The reason is a blatent No brainer ... If you want that tech in you're car buy a Koeingsegg , You will never see a Koeingsegg technology in a different car fact
The video title is blatent click bait because it mentions Koeingsegg in the title ..
Never is a long time. You don't think a Koenigsegg technology will be in another car in 500 years?
Hmm, a video about the battery tech in a Koenigsegg. And you think having "Koenigsegg" in the title is clickbait? I don't get it. [time for you to tell me I am a stupid moron for having that thought 😁]
This guy is so boring vs his boss. the difference of the tone the passion
1500 cycles? Tesla will be using its dry cathode batteries that run 4000 cycles.
Is it really needed for mankind to have such a fast car when we have people on the road who don't drive well mixed with idiots who think that racing on public roads is okay? Pitiful use of technology.
Koenigsegg is fantastic. But building hybrids was always very dumb, sorry. Focus on one thing and do it right. This thing is so complex, they should try to build something to beat the new Tesla roadster to stay up there.... And to stay in the future.... Btw: hybrids have small batteries, thats why they don't last long and also can't take a lot of Amp hours in a short time charge/ discharge without getting harmed
New Tesla Roadster is not coming out before 2023+.
Dumb? I think you have misunderstood why they use a battery. If you listen carefully you might pick it up ;)
Tesla roadster will be a mass-produced cheap car with a lot of power. Koenigsegg are high quality cars in every aspect. Tesla will offer a lot of power, but no much else. There's more to high quality cars than just a lot of power.
Gallardo6669 I think the point is that electric motors offer better acceleration while combustion can do the rest. If you want it all, this is a viable option. Off the line I can beat most cars with my Tesla, but I’ll never touch a ICE cars top speed.
@@humandoing9675 I lived in Germany for 31years, I hardly could go top speed.... Now I live in USA, nothing can compete here with my Tesla and the speed limit cuts us all of anyways at Max 75..... So what could the top speed of the Koenigsegg do for me???😜
Koenigsegg is dead. Using electric power in a hypercar is a sin.
