Wow, you straight up just translated the song 1:1 into real instruments, I've never see anybody arrange this song like that before. You're unbelievably talented.
David Wise has said he originally wrote this for an additional water level that never materialized. I always associate this song with water because of this. I think of just floating calmly and peacefully on the waves. The instrumentation on this version is gorgeous.
Honestly, I like how they ended up using the song. It fit the bramble levels perfectly. They were beautiful with vibrant colors and setting, serene at times, and busy and chaotic at others. They'll always be my best memories from DK2; masterpieces of gameplay and music.
I also associate this theme with water. In the Subspace story from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there is a part in a level where the characters can (briefly) swim, and this theme plays during that level. My younger sister and I always played through the story together but she preferred to stay on that water spot and let the characters swim there. Saving the world can wait, let's play in the water first! 😆
Im 37 years old and you Sr took me back to my child hood growing up in small town with 4 older brother. Fighting for the remote control on the SNES to play DK in my mom’s living room while my mom cooking in kitchen. She passed away 1 month ago she was a wonderful mother miss here every day.
Stickerbush Symphony is a piece that always brings a tear to my eye. I never played DKC2, but... the feeling that the piece carries makes me feel nostalgic and lonesome. Like I'm so far away from everything and everyone, stranded in the ocean on a clear, starry night, with the ocean reflecting the sky. The best way to describe it is a beautiful loneliness. You know that the pain and emptiness won't last forever, but while you gaze into that dark star lit sky, your soul feels an ache that it kind of just... accepts. And you drop your guard and let whatever sadness you've bottled up out. That's what this piece does for me.
You should give it a shot! The song from this level is brutally difficult but the music makes it feel okay. I have so many memories of playing this level with sweaty palms and a high heartbeat but ultimately being relaxed by the music.
i didn’t live in the 90s but I’ve cried at songs like this from video games and this one is amazing I can’t even believe it’s from donkey Kong and I never even played the game. I understand

I'm a big fan of David Wise and all of his work. Stickerbush Symphony is my favourite of his entire career and so I've listened to a lot of different versions by different artists. I can say without any doubt that your version is by far the best of them all, you not only recreate perfectly the essence of the original song, but you also improve the feeling that comes from it. Very grateful for being able to listen to your version, congratulations for your work.

And most importantly: You respected all the nuances and notes of the original melody created for the SNES. Congratulations my friend, for taking this song out of the cartridge with so much care and dedication!

It's because of the bass and melody. The bass has a fast tempo but the melody has a relatively slower one. It's also written in the right key.

That might just be the frame rate of the camera. Still a really cool effect though.
It’s not edited, that’s just how cameras see strings vibrating so much.
