  • We traveled to the Lincoln National Forest for a few days of nature. We spent 4 days at 3 different dispersed camping spots. Each spot had its own personality, despite only being a few miles from one another. Keep an eye out for Part 2 of our New Mexico Overland adventure to see a really neat feature in this area.     We live 3.5 hours east of the Lincoln National Forest. I can't believe we've never gone there. Now I have to make plans soon :) Great video and family time!

    I'm moving from Austin out to Ruidoso with my 4 Runner - same color - and I'm gonna be right next to this forest. One of the most exciting parts is being able to take my baby daughter camping! Looks like you guys had a great time :)

      @@tCrollin are you talking about the oven that we made cinnamon rolls in ? If so it’s just a single burner camp oven made by Colman. Our is an old one that we found somewhere, but I think you can still get them. They are not super efficient as far as fuel usage goes on the stove.

      @@WestTexasRambler yes I was talking about that. So its a separate one burner oven? I thought it was an attachment that went over the 2 burner stove you have to convert it to an oven. I will look for it, thanks again.

      @@tCrollin yes, it’s a separate piece that folds up. Ours just covers one burner.

      @@maddoggk9096 good deal, if you haven’t already get on the website and find the MVUM (motor vehicle use map) it will show what roads you have access too and where dispersed camping is allowed.

    hello i am from New Mexico and well i am only 13 i have been camping quite a lot, and camping is just really nice, only cause it's peaceful, you get to see lot's of animals u don't normally see driving, and u just get fresh air and get to live with nothing to do except live life. i really loved this video is was really nice i subscribed and liked.

    Great video and such a sweet little girl. Those pastries you made looked amazing. me and my brother are going to try to get out to this same area this weekend to look for some camping spots with our families for a nice and quick getaway.

      Hey, thanks for watching. We really appreciate your comment. If you haven’t already I’d download the MVUM (Motor Vehicle Use Maps) for the area from the national forest website. It has tons of information about where you can go and where you can disperse camp.

    I'm heading to Ruidoso and Cloudcroft area next week. Do you have any tips on places to go. Good routes and camping spots?

      I’m not really sure what all is accessible in the winter around there. You might have to just get out and explore to see if there are places not covered in snow.

      Hey Jon, it’s just a folding colman camp oven. Ours is a really old version, but I think they still make them new.

      Hey, thanks for watching. There are tons of FR with dispersed camping. If you go to the look for MVUM maps of the area you want to travel too and it will show you where it is allowed.

    Howdy from a San Angelo raised, and now Amarillo native! I have a Bronco coming in in the next few weeks, and plan on getting started in overlanding.     Please look up the New Mexico Overland Expedition group. It's a huge group out of Las Cruces, NM. A definite group to follow in the West Texas and Southern NM area. They do have a FB page. 👍👍

      Yea, we had a good time. Those trails were some just right around the Bluff Springs area. What we did was all short little hikes, but I think there are some longer ones that branch off from around there. Thanks for watching.

    What oven is that? I have a Coleman oven and it’s tricky to use.

      This is an old Colman. I’m not sure if there are different models or not but this seems to work ok. What do you have problems with on yours ?

      @@WestTexasRambler well you really have to watch the temperature closely to keep it set where you want it and in cold or windy conditions it’s even harder. You also have to flip whatever you are baking to make sure the top gets done. It’s an art. Cinnamon rolls are the easiest I’ve found.

      @@UA-camMaster1611 oh I gotcha. Yea, cinnamon rolls is all we have used it for. We move it as high as we can and the bottom still gets done before the top.
