Eliminate friction. Nut slots must be wide enough and lubricated. String trees should be holding strings at the desired angle but not pressing on them more than needed and lubricated too. At the bridge, front screws need to be high enough so the base plate can move. Finally, and obviously, strings must be stretched including wraps around the pegs.
@@MrLennonson The 6 screws directly in front of the bridge. They bild the stopping surface on which the plate pivots. If they are screwed tight, they restrict the movement. Lubricating the 6 contact points with the plate is also a possible improvement.
What a good video ... LIKE ... Do you do this close examination with different guitars? This video is really surprisingly honest. Very nice review, I really liked the pointing system. As you asked, I came to your channel by searching for GRX40 review. I'm looking for a replacement for my old Condor RX 30 (brazillian made-in-china brand) and this looks like to be a good guitar for the price (here in Brazil, around 300 euros with current currency conversion - 1 eur = 5.40 bra) - I only play for fun and relax at home, no bands or fency recordings - so as the 15 year old Condor, this should be enough for when I have the itchy to play some riffs. I will probably get the green one :)
Great and thorough review. The Ibanez sounds quite harsh, I think. I have got severel Ibanez guitars and have always replaced the pickups, mostly to Tonerider pickups.
Thanks a lot for the review and pointing out the shielding issue. I had the same problem with my GRX40, shielding was not connected to the common ground and had a horrible high frequency noise on the single coils when not touching the strings. Rudimentarily connecting the flaky paint with aluminium foil to the grounded pick guard screw as a quick test lowered the high frequency noise of the single coils from 75 dB (!) to 59 dB on my Orange Crush 20RT fully cranked up on the clean channel all EQ at 12 o'clock, not touching the strings. When touching the strings, the noise is 55 dB with the settings above. (Measured w. an uncalibrated Voltcraft SL-200) I'm curious how much lower the noise gets once I properly redo the shielding with copper tape.

It's all been said, but the format of your review is golden! Love your penalty points system. I thought you were going to add a penalty point for the screw in tremolo arm as I had one of those on my Yamaha RGZ321P and it wears out. What guitar with tremolo would you suggest for a beginner that does maintain its tuning?
I'd normally recommend a guitar with a fixed bridge to beginners as any tremolo may cause a lot frustration when one doesn't know how to set and use it.
