@@owenlo9223well, it's not really an aesthetic choice in my opinion. Is the tradeoff of a little less polishing value for the reduction of 30% of the weight worth it to you? For me it was as it keeps with the spirit of the watch it's homaging but it's kind of an individual thing.
Excellent video, thank you very much for that. I have all three colors of this watch because I am so happy with this watch. A nice addition to this watch is the “San Martin Fluorine Rubber Watch” watch strap, which is available at Watchdives. In green, black, blue, orange and white. It fits the watch perfectly and is a joy to put on.
And I totally agree on keeping the original Pelagos design. There are about a million homages of the new 39, and I’m glad the OG option exists… even in the same blue and black colors!
I really like when you do the split windows for comparisons in your videos. I’m also impressed that you’re able to get your hands on the three different colors and that makes me a bit jealous 😅. I have the black one in steel and I love it. I’m considering getting the blue one in titanium but I haven’t made up my mind between the San Martín or the blue Seestern. Anyway, thanks for your work!
Amazing answers to our questions in mind. Seing the black with those would be extra great. I must say your choice of straps are perfect btw. Subscribed.
Great video. I also have a black SN0121 titanium with the date window, my bezel has the same play you showed in this video. In fact the SN004 retro diver I used to have did the same, and the steel SN0121 I had before the titanium. I think it's the way the then "new" bezel system was designed for the retro diver which seems to be what they are doing on all the diver watches since then. Did you notice your titanium bracelet being a bit rattly?
That titanium bezel sounds amazing. Very impressive. San Martin appear to be knocking it out of the park with these Pelagos homages... Do you guys think they will make a fixed-lug version?
Great review! I truly appreciate your attention to detail. I cannot imagine any of the other watch UA-camrs I follow catching the fact that there was a difference in the length of the bracelet links between the watches. Kudos for that. I own this watch in SS with the blue dial. At the same time I bought an Octopus Kracken in Titanium, my first Ti watch, and I absolutely love the light weight of it on my wrist- it almost disappears on my wrist compared to the SN0121. That being said, I may have to sell that one and pick up the SN0121 in Titanium. Seems the comfort of titanium has spoiled me for heavy watches. Or maybe I'm just getting old, lol.
Thanks man. I’m glad that bit of information was useful to you. I’m also pretty new to Ti watches and yeah every time I wear a steel watch right after it feels so much more heavy
Just received the green and love the color! Perfect alignment of the bezel and was lucky to find the perfect fit. The edges from the bracelet/clasp really to sharp but easy fix with a dremel(multitool) and a little patience 😅, now buttery smooth edges 👌
How many links did the Titanium model come with before you sized it? The one I bought had 11 links out of the box, and is too tight for me, and trying to get extra links has been a quite difficult so far.
I just checked because I sized the watch as soon as it came and you’re absolutely right. I only have the 11 links. I had received a few watches that day and I guess I must have missed that
Hey, so do you prefer the stainless or the titanium bracelet? Do the scratches show up more on the tanium? Is the weight difference wort it? I have a 7” wrist as well. Thx
Orange, Purple, White and a desert/tan/sand colour would be super dope! Watchdives can milk this design to death, for all I care. It's that good to me, more colours = more better! :)
5:34 the titanium has a avg density of 7.8 with avg steel having density of 4.51. The higher density will create higher pitch as the sound waves move faster with higher density..
This titanium version looks really great. I think titanium watch bezels often sound more muted than the SS counterparts. I have only one titanium watch, a Breitling Aerospace Avantage and its bezel is very muted in sound. I love the feel of titanium and might just pick up this San Martin.
Thank you for your sincere review. I have a question. I heard your early black steel version has sharp finishing (case, bracelets, clasp). Is the green version you bought later also sharp? Hasn't it improved? Is the titanium version also sharp?
Thanks for the great comparison. I love my blue steel version with a date. Definitely one of my favorite watches I own, and your review as well as Steve from Escape Wheel convinced me to get it. Thanks!
@@HHWatchReviews Update- My SN0121 arrived last week, and I'm noticing around 6+ hours the minute hand starts to run slow, yet the seconds hand remains on-time. Within 24 hours the minute hand loses a full minute +/-. My other San Martin does not have this issue. Everything else is perfect tho, bezel perfectly aligned and turns beautifully... Going to be sending back for replacement / repair as it seems I got a lemon in the movement.
Thanks for the Vid. I like the darker tone of titanium of the original pelagos. But I really don't see enough of a difference here to justify the price and the scratches. Is the titanium noticeably darker in real life?
Titanium is a 'warmer' metal. I have both the steel and titanium and both wear the same but the lightness of the titanium is awesome and the material is great for winter, as you won't freeze up your wrist when you put on your watch in the morning :) Just keep in mind that the TI bracelet is a bit rattley!
@@timschwarze1739 ok sir thanks i find my steel one bit rough that’s why I am wearing it lose and I am considering the T version and put this one on a strap
Oh for sure, I readily admit they are totally useless but I just like the way they look. 😁😁 They are obviously very cheap to put into watches. I have 6 AliExpress watches, San Martin, Cronos and Phylida that have them.
@@sinjinadams2862do they work? I’m familiar with the function, but I assumed they would be relatively expensive to add but if I’m wrong then I agree. Might as well add it on!
8:57 That kind of attention to detail is why I subscribe. I have the San Martin Black Bay Pepsi GMT (#SN0109-G) like you have, and put on the on-the-fly adjustable clasp (stock item #BK1642). The clasp has 6 positions, but I feel that it would need about 8 positions to cover the full length of one oyster bracelet link.... which would mean that 2 out of 8, or 25% of people can't get the right fit with that setup as there are no half-links, and I am one of those 25%. I solved my issue by getting the 5-link jubilee bracelet (stock item #ND0128). It works because each jubilee link is much shorter than the oyster link, so each jubilee link works like a half link and I am then able to get perfect sizing. So based on all that - it's a blessing that the titanium bracelet has slightly shorter links! BTW great review. I have the notification bell on for your stuff.
Totally man. I also like the feel and weight of steel, but lately I’ve been wearing a few quartz and titanium watches and I’m really starting to like the lightweight
I have the blue in steel and the black in titanium. I was blown away by how well finished the titanium version is.
Awesome. I'm going to order the titanium in black, so that's good to know.
Isit worth the extra for the titanium in-terms of aesthetic?

Thanks so much much for filming the green version (and new bracelet!)! Been waiting for it since the announcement

The SN0121B in titanium (preferably grade 5) would be a dream come through. And with a SW330-2 movement it would even be a wet dream 😊

With the titanium version do you feel less of the bracelet's sharpness because of the lower weight? Thank you, great channel.
Definitely. If I had to describe it, I would say it feels “softer”

File down the sharp edges. World of difference.

Do you know if the titanium it’s hardened? I have a Zelos ti and it scratched very easy.
I don’t wear it on the bracelet so I can’t say if it scratches easily, but the watch head hasn’t had a single scratch so far

Amazing vídeo i have just order the Black one
I'd like a 42mm version.
+1
Where can one get these watches in Europe? I don't wanna deal with import duties and shit...
If they did a 42mm version I'd literally sell my collection and just have one watch
This would make an excellent one watch collection!
Ive got a pretty decent collection and this watch dominates
Also would prefer a darker titanium, as these are brighter than the Tudor, not sure how they achieve this.
How is the jubilee bracelet? Thats new san martin's bracelet I suppose
It’s actually very good. It’s from the SN0128 but I think it’s the same one they sell separately
I ordered the blue gmt today 😊
Congrats!!!
Wish they'd do the GMT version in the titanium too.
I’m sure it’ll come
If they sold the titanium variant with a PT5000 or SW200, I would've already bought one.
Check out the IXDAO. I reviewed it on my channel and that one has the PT5000
The IXDAO has some very mixed reviews. I almost pulled the trigger on one, but decided on SM, despite the average movement.
What is the true diameter?
great video
I suspect that the difference in sound may be due to titanium having a lower density and that it is harder than steel.
