Glory to the Creator for having created pistachios! This video is quite delightful to me for pistachios are quite delightful to me. Thanks for the elaboration on the nutritional content of pistachios, Dr. Berg. I had heard before that it has the lowest oxalates of all the nuts & much less than my other favorite, namely cashews, although I've laid off cashews now (unless I've soaked the cashews in water for a few days & then roasted them a bit in the oven) since hearing cashews are nearly as high in oxalates as almonds are. But to hear of all the other nutritional content was grand. 👍 Intending to buy a couple or so more packages of pistachios later today. 👍
My favorite nut is pistachios. Never saw them until I was older. All of my kids loved them too. I’ve even given them to them for gifts when they were older so they remembered how good they are. Things that were omitted but to be aware of: Quantity: About a handful (1.5 ounces) is a good amount to shoot for each day. Since pistachios contain fructans, eating too many of them can cause bloating, nausea, or abdominal pain. So it’s always a good idea NOT to overdo it.
That happened to me recently. I had pain and bloating on my left side after eating pistachios. Couldnt seem to get rid of it. I did some situps and it went away very fast afterwards.
Someone commented on the melatonin content of pistachios. Here's what is says online: Pistachios are not just the most melatonin-rich nut, they are simply off-the-charts as the most melatonin-rich food ever recorded. Pistachios have 15 grams of carbs per 100 grams of nuts. Cashews have 22 grams of carbs per 100 grams of nuts. I would consider neither to be "low carb". As all poisons though, everything depends on the dosage. There is nothing wrong with eating a mere handful as long as you are tracking your daily carbs. But who can eat just a handful?

A keto diet will repair, coupled with sprinting
Same here 2 year without sugar
Hi Dr.Berg, Love ur content. Quick question. Can we eat raw pistachios or is it a must to soak them before eating?
Whatever you do folks, don't buy the deshelled pistachios. Those suckers feel and taste stale as heck.
Right. They're way fresher with the shell on!
😂
More expensive, too.
The shell is very hard
@@tazboy1934 try to get the ones in the opened shells. Don't eat the shells but definitely put them in your mouth and take the salt off them - those shells are tasty too. Then discard the shells, of course. I keep a bag or bowl next to me for the discarded shells as I munch on. One of my fav eating experiences since childhood!
My Dr said to eat these for a healthy liver. Thank you!!
Thanks for saving my Life with all your informative videos and teachings!!!🙏🙌👌👍🙏🙌😇
The only bad thing about nuts is once i eat it its so hard to stop :')
Good for boosting testosterone 😊
I remember when they used to dye them red - man that was messy.
TrinityStark yeah... like we all needed Red 42 in our diet. 🥴
Yeah, and what was that all about? Some goofy arse marketing?
dcrispin1 years ago I worked in a grocery store and if I remember correctly we would get red ones in before Christmas. That could be a regional preference too though. 🤷🏽♂️
Are you talking about the Boston Baked Bean candies?
Haha I remember that too! I loved that as a kid 😂
My favourite nuts are cashews and pistachios... glad I can still eat one of them!
@@panpiper I know, right! They're so addictive
@@panpiper would fibre counteract the carb content? I just been sticking to Brazil nuts and macadamia of late
That sounds kinda good.... Wonder if Macadamias & Pistachios would taste good together?? as a snack?
@@panpiper My Mom used to eat peanuts(which I know, aren't technically nuts) til she got sick; she loved em! .....she just kept eating & eating.....her digestion just couldn't take it.....but she didn't know when to stop...So, like you said, just a handful is enough for a person, at one sitting...maybe enough for one day.....Whaddaya think??.
I buy the ones in shells as it slows me down a tiny bit but omg I love them
According to the nutrition label on the back of my 8 oz. package. There are four (2 ounce) servings in the bag.
Two ounces of pistachios contain the following:
Calcium 30 mg.
Iron 1.1 mg.
Potassium 280 mg.
Thiamin .2mg.
Vitamin B6 .3 mg.
Phophorus 130 mg.
Magnesium 30 mg.
Copper .4 mg
Manganese .3 mg
Originated in Persia/Iran it is called "Peste", where in Rome was Romanized to pistachio.
And for me, easily the most deliciously buttery taste of all the nuts / seeds
Macadamia nut for me
For us, pine nuts & pistachios are everyday food ganache & snack.

A couple of people mentioned the amount of carbs:
Only 8 grams of carbs, 3 grams of dietary fiber, 2 grams of sugars per 1/2 cup (with shells)
Who can only eat half a cup? Not me , there soooo good!
I’m eating pistachios right now while watching this lol
You should tell people how many and how often to eat them to get the required benefits.
We Love you Dr Berg!! Thanks for Helping Us🙏
