    I’ll show you.
    In video I’ll cover
    💥 Building the jockey shifter
    💥 Extended your stock clutch arm
    💥 Creating a linkage

    Never even thought about welding a bolt to the rod. I’m making my Ironhead into a jockey shift so this is a huge help!
    If you need more video ideas: making a foot clutch from a clutch cable on an Ironhead. You know, just for content purposes 🤣

      Being a welder is easier than being a machinist haha, that’s always my solution for creating some threads lol.
      I will see if I can find someone with a cable clutch to do a video on in the future

    I'm building a chopper from scratch and I made an identical linkage for the foot shifter. The only difference is I welded a bolt to either end of a mild steel rod instead of using all-thread. Saved a few bucks.

      Definitely plan to do a video on that setup, I know mine is a little odd in that it’s not the original transmission from the evo but it’s all fairly similar.

    Nice love it! How did you keep the bolt from flexing when you welded it to the clutch return lever?

    • @greasesgarage
      @greasesgarage  Рік тому

      So for mine I did it out of stainless and stainless will always move on the first tack.
      To combat this, you’ll want to angle it a few degrees away from the side you’re tacking and get a fusion tack on it. This tack will pull it to the center. From there you tack the opposing side and it won’t pull because it’s already got that first tack holding it now.
      Tack the other two sides so you’ve got four tacks on it, now weld around the whole bolt head 👌🏼

    Thanks for the video. What’s the shift pattern on the cow pie? Is it 1 forward, then N,2,3,4 back? I’m having a hard time finding ratchets with that pattern and I want to slap backwards to upshift. Cheers

    • @greasesgarage
      @greasesgarage  Рік тому +1

      On this particular one, slapping backwards is down. In my mind I tell myself I’m pulling the e brake and slowing down. My old Yamaha road star was the way you’re describing, slapping back was up.
      That being said, I believe that there are two different cow pies. From the FL touring models and from the FX models.
      One of them is the opposite of mine and the shift linkage is on the bottom where mine is facing up. On the ones that face down, it would be reverse from my shifting pattern. Unfortunately I’m not sure what model mine came from so I can’t tell you which is which, only that you’d be looking for the one that doesn’t match what you’re seeing in this video.
      Alternatively, if you built your shifter directly off the shifter shaft, mine would shift the way you’re describing. So that’s an option too

    • @jesseotown
      @jesseotown Рік тому

      @@greasesgarage yeah cheers mate. I know what you mean. More then two ways to go about it depending if you weld straight on or use the lever action like yours. Same with the ratchet, fx and fl have opposite shift patterns. I’m looking to slap backwards for 2,3,4. Sick build though and great video!! Love how every bike is custom to the rider. Stay safe 🤘

    Hello Grease a got a question? Did you do something with the linkage or it is stock with the hole on it? Thanks

    • @greasesgarage
      @greasesgarage  Рік тому

      Hey Jorge, can you clarify which part you’re talking about when you say the linkage?
      When I hear linkage I think of the threaded rod part, which has a heim joint on each end. That part is not factory at all. Happy to help I’m just not sure which part you’re referring to

      @@jorgequiros1310 the part that mounts to the cowpie did have a hole in it on a little arm that pointed up. Some of them point down. Doesn’t matter either way because you’re going to cut it off and weld a shifter to it anyways
