I am a 44 year old rock lover, and I really really like this song. It's creative, interesting, it does have different layers. Maybe you should have a second listen. I also enjoy his style and quirkiness.
I’m 60 and I love this song. It’s got an uplifting beat that makes me want to dance but the lyrics bring me to tears everytime. Lost my husband. Nothing is the same as it was.
he seems like a nice guy. hopefully he's gained a better awareness and for his sake won't say anything again like that disingenuous comment in the speech, attempt at humility that showed a lot of white privilege, unfortunately.
@scho3333 better awareness? That's very condescending. Just because he's white doesn't mean he doesn't have struggles. Since I don't know what they are, I don't make assumptions.
Yes, compared to most music today, go back to the 70s 80s and 90s and even the 60s when the Beatles Rolling Stones started and you’ll see, I’ve basically music today is pretty crap and unoriginal. I do like Harry Styles. But he’s still a pop singer.
He does a fantastic live concert and his energy is unrivalled by any of his peers. You have to hear Harry‘s music over and over again, and watch him live and I’m a child of the 50s 60s 70s 80s and 90s it’s no match for some of the iconic performers of the past decades, but I’m 69 and I do love him he’s actually an incredible human being and it’s not just because I’m British because I didn’t like One Direction
Honestly his third album is the best so far I would listen to it. Give it a chance it has a lot of 70s influence with a good funky bass line. He won album of the year at the Grammy for this album. I’m also not saying this as a giant fan but it is truly really good. Give his third album a chance
Yall was being too honest in this video. Like there is a correct way to say something, there's no reason to completely bash a person. Yall saying that he dresses wierd and just saying unecessary stuff. Like we as people need to do better and think about the words we say out our mouth. Joking or not, not everything needs to be said. One reason why this world is messed up today, got too many cruel people.
I'm far from being a 20 something and I actually bought his Fine Line album. His concerts are extremely entertaining. PS I love the way he dresses, he has style (no pun intended) 🎶🎵
I mean I am for sure biased, but his music is interesting at least. It's one thing not to like a song, but saying it's trash is a little disrespectful. If you're not open to adding some constructive criticism why do a reaction channel at all? I agree, the song is far from his best but it was built for commercial success and it achieved what it was made to do. The fact, that this is not the first channel to question why this song was so popular and won awards just makes me realize that people don't see the patterns in pop music and how it works. I don't agree with most of what was said in this video, but IF you're really interested in actually listening to his music with an open mind, you should listen to him more for sure. Also, do live performance, not a video or official audio. He is made for stage and sounds good live (unlike som other "singers"). List of my faves: original: Harry Styles - Sign of the Times (Live on The Graham Norton Show) (1. album) Harry Styles - Falling (Live From The BRIT Awards, Harry Styles - London 2020) - he was really emotional during this performance, but it's still one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen (2. album) Harry Styles - Kiwi (live in studio) (1. album) Harry Styles performing Sweet Creature (Live in London) (1. album) Harry Styles - From The Dining Table (Live In Studio) (2017) Best Quality (1. album) Harry Styles - Full Performance (Live At IheartRadio Jingle Ball 2020) (2. album) Harry Styles: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert (2. album) Harry Styles “Daylight” Live on the Stern Show (3. album) Harry Styles - As It Was - Live from One Night Only in New York (3. album) beautiful covers: Harry Styles - Girl Crush (At The BBC) Harry Styles - Big Yellow Taxi (Joni Mitchell Cover) Radio 2 Breakfast Harry Styles - The Chain (Fleetwood Mac cover) in the Live Lounge Harry Styles - Juice (Lizzo cover) in the Live Lounge Harry Styles - Wet Dream (Wet Leg cover) in the Live Lounge Again, only do more of Harry if you're really interested in listening to him. You'll get negative comments if you'll continue to sh*t on him (without a valid reason). I've seen reaction channels that only did it for the views and it's painful.
You guys just don’t like relaxing music or something 😂 y’all ever just listen to something pretty and take a sunset drive sometime? Should try it haha. Idk, I love the song, and this is not my type of genre at all
My 9 yr. Old loves this song…it’s grown on me, and I actually like it. I’d really like for you to react to The Marshall Tucker Band, “Can’t You See”, at the Grand Opera House 1973. Their genre is Southern Rock, and I love their live performance.
I have not heard of it either. I don't listen to the radio (yeah maybe the odd classic Soul & Jazz Station), don't watch tv, don't go out unless it is to visit someone in their home (small circle of family and friends of whom most don't listen to mainstream either) or to pick up some groceries while wearing headphones listening to my own music. It's really not that hard to not be "up-to-date". ;)
not by Simon, but okay 😂 the xfactor performances are somewhere between "it's a meme now" and "I can listen to it only one time". if they don't like him or 1D i'd for sure wouldn't want to see more disrespect 😂
Nah Harry wasn’t my favorite don’t get me wrong his sweet and can sing great but I personally like Niall out of the one direction boys personality wise then looks I go Louis from 1D grown up now but growing up myself I was more into Big Time Rush then 1D personally I only knew about 1D because in HS I was in color guard biggest mistake for me but anyway we had to pick a song to dance to as a group and no one listened to me doing a fun 80s 90s themed dance since the judges would connect more they chose story of my life by 1D I was pissed but then we had to study about them and I ended up liking the boys not the music really well everyone else was singing “that’s what makes you beautiful” I was singing “you’re looking for a boyfriend (yeah) I see that” and even when I got into 1D I was crushing on Zayne and Niall so when they went solo Harry was the last one I listened to myself only cause a friend was listening to him and his voice sounded nice I like this song a little bit but not as much as the other boys songs
@@Tyga_r2014 uh, weird to read your words? i like some of the second half of the song, i think the intro melody is not very appealing. obviously when people share opinions it's subjective, if you think everything about the song is perfect, i'll not agree but that's your opinion, and why would you think i'm hating if i'm sharing my opinion given the title of the video is "does it really live up to the hype?" in my opinion, not at all. your message is analagous to me calling you "worshipping" just because you have a different opinion juxtaposed to my subjective one

@@Tyga_r2014 I didn't realize you had responded until now. it's weird how sporadic you tube seems to be at notifying you of replies. The first evidence that I don't find it catchy: I didn't start to like it even though it had been played a lot and I'm not that picky about music actually. After listening to it a few times now to try to figure out why, I think part of it is the chorus isn't paying off in the right way for me after the verse buildup. I can play any song by ear and the way I do this is my ear instantly can sense the interval of melody notes above whatever bass note. I think the reason the chorus doesn't sound pleasing to me is that high note is actually the same as the bass note which gives a simple sound and then later in the chorus, same thing again a key melody note is the same as the bass note giving another simple sound; worse: in the chorus at one point a key melody note is a fifth over the bass note and that is not a very pretty sounding interval in general. So for me the chorus has scoops down from a high note but the chords underneath don't add any richness or emotional uplift but the opposite there's for me, an awkward simplicity? Add onto that , I think that same spot in the chorus is a hard line for a male voice to sing and I think Harry's tone does not pull it off very well for me, the sound reminds me a bit of thin sound of Tiny Tim 'Tiptoe through the tulips". I listened to a couple of covers and the couple of covers I liked better were soulful voices that took liberties with the melody/used melisma and made the song more RnB. I don't like the production of the song at the beginning that steel drum part. It's just not a pleasant song for me which is weird. EDIT: JUST LISTENED to tiny Tim for the first time in decades, not quite applicable he uses a lot of vibrato so not sure why he came to mind but can't think of a better one so oh well. The point was the thin sounding voice at top melody note of As It Was not appealing on top of unrewarding chords in chorus
@@Tyga_r2014 it's possible that a flat chord progression might've been a good fit if the lyrics are implying emptiness. But doesn't change that to my ear it's not appealing in combination with the melody there
