Nice camper, we would either leave the bunk folded up or take it out and sleep on the bed and leave the dining area alone, that way we wouldn't need to keep remaking the bed each time

Hello there! I too own a 14BH, though I live in mine full-time. I'm a single retiree, with friends all across the country, and I've been traveling around to visit. I wintered over in South Texas (home) while I reestablish residency. Except for travel days, I keep the dinette in place, and the bunk down. I store laundry baskets with spare linens and clothing on the bunk. I sleep on the gaucho at the rear of the trailer. It's a standard twin mattress size, and I added a mattress topper. I also added a cassette toilet which I use when travelling, so I don't have to worry about stopping to dump my black tank.
Some things to consider before you start traveling, make sure to secure the cabinet and bathroom doors. Driving through Massachusetts, I had the cabinet door under the stove come off the hinges, and the bathroom top hinge came out. I removed both permanently, and installed a similar cargo net across the cabinet opening. If you have two more of those child locks, you can secure both cabinet doors, and the bathroom door. I also upgraded my battery to a 100ah LiFePO3 battery, and added a 100w solar panel on the roof. I need to upgrade my charge controller so I can have an additional power cable leading off, to charge my small Jackery. I may instead install a car 12v jack, I haven't decided. Also, make sure NOT to install a spare tire directly onto the rear bumper. It will 100% shear off from the frame during travel. I mounted mine on the tongue, but TravelLite has one that sits over but not on the bumper, and attaches to the trailer frame underneath.
And check out the owner's group Facebook page, Rove Lite.

Hi there fellow Rove owner! Yes we are on the Facebook page and what a great group of people! Wow you live on yours, how amazing. Sounds like you made some sensible upgrades to make life easier for yourself. We are not retired but enjoy our time away. We are looking to upgrade our battery, add solar panels and would never put the spare tire on the rear bumper. We want to keep it light! Thank you for all your tips and happy travels to you. : )

Like see you folks get locking covers for your water hook ups, you can get the covers and just epoxy them to the side, will prevent anyone from tampering, love the rig though best wishes for your travels!

Even though, you can run the icebox while driving. It is not advisable. If the coolant is not level, it can screw things up.

This has almost the twin layout to my vintage 1976 Serro Scotty Hilander.
Yours lacks the upper cabinet doors that mine has. They're basically copies of the lower doors. I also have dual flip up counter extensions on either side of the counter, with the one by the gaucho couch working excellently as a side table.
My Scotty doesn't have a wet bath, but rather a closet/porta potty closet. The upper bunk in mine has a folding panel with 3 doors at the front that folds down to make it wider. Its a great place to stash bedding. Take a look at the old Scottys for ideas.
Mine's a bit heavier due to having a steel frame.
Does yours have a torsion axle or leaf springs?
    Happy travels!

We looked into your camper, you are absolutely right it is a very similar layout. I love the color of the Serro Scott Hilander, and the storage on the top bunk makes so much sense. Thanks for telling us about your vintage. Would love to see a Hilander in person! Do you still use your Hilander?
      The Rove has Leaf springs.

Nice looking little trailer! It gets the job done. I can't wait to see where you go with it this year. Any thoughts on modifications you might like to do to it?

Tim, It sure does get the job done without too much fuss! We would love to add a lithium battery, solar panels and add off road tires. In time maybe. We will of course share our travels!

We’ve been looking at getting a Rove Lite 16rb. We’re hoping to pull with our SUV, tow weight at 3,500 lbs GVWR. Two adults and two large dogs. We’ve only ever tent camped, so when/if we get a camper it will be a new adventure. What do you like about the Rove Lite brand, and what would you like changed (if anything)?

    • @johnbailey1812
      @johnbailey1812  4 місяці тому +5

The 16rb is a great choice! Much bigger shower area! We really like the flexibility, the look, the small size and ability to pull with our van. The bunks are really useful either for sleeping or additional storage. We would have liked a fridge which could also be used by propane, however it would be easy to change. The off road option would be great to prevent it from grounding, however it has been fine for us! Let us know if you get your camper!
