Now if you mean HMS Furious, then she did indeed mount an 18 inch gun in WW1.
However it's gun did operate in WW2 on one of the monitors.

Actually, the subtitles were correct. I guess, the German word “Gerät“ is not the easiest word to pronounce correctly 😉. I definitely like the videos and I find it kinda cute how the author pronounces German words 😊.

Tzar cannon had a diameter of 890mm shell or 35inch. The diameter of the barrel was 1400mm or 41inch. Its still on display. I saw it when I was a kid visiting Moscow. Its very humbling to stand next to something that massive makes you come with terms that you are really insignificant and feable when compared to this monstrous weapons of war. Just to imagine a shell 38 tons in weight moving through the air at several thousand feet per second at you position can make you pass out from sheer fear. We are talking about a shell that has a weight comparable to a lightweight to midweight tank. WW2 Soviet T34 weight between 29-35 tons. The American Sherman weight 33 tons. So its not a far fetch to say that you are being bombarded by tanks, which are moving at around 1000-1500 feet per second. Its sheer lunacy.

@@kristelvidhi5038 Actually, the visual differences between Kongo and Nagato classes are much greater than North Carolina and Iowa, although this isn't really that obvious from the angle seen in the photo in the video. Just looking at the gun turrets, the two turrets on the aft end of Kongo class ships are spaced out quite a bit, whereas they are superfiring on the Nagato class ships. This is just one obvious difference.

That cannon was made in 1586. It's shell diameter is 890mm. The diameter of the barrel is 1400mm. This cannon is in Moscow Museum of Artillery now.

...for a few shells. But after only a few shots, the accuracy dropped increasingly. It was impressive, first of all, rather than really useful. Also because of the lack of maneuverability. There had to be four Rails laid side by side before bringing this gun to the wanted place and position.

The W48 was an American nuclear artillery shell, capable of being fired from any standard 155-millimetre (6.1 in) howitzer. @@drtidrow You're forgetting abiut W54 'Davy Crocket" too, I only brought these up as the title said biggest explosive artillery shells and I thought some mention of these would come up as they may not be the biggest in the traditional sense but in the explosive yield they are the most 'explosive' artillery shells out there??
@@scottbishop7899 I didn't forget about it, but it's not really a traditional "cannon" shell. Also got used as the "Special Atomic Demolition Munition", a literal "backpack" nuke.

@@drtidrow I thought from the title some of the nuclear variants might be mentioned but realised it was more of a traditional artillery type shells that were showcased, seeing the sheer size of these shells is crazy to see though. I'll have to check out those other videos at some point lol 👍

What about the scale? Why is a 460mm projectile a third thicker than 457mm? There's also a difference of 3 mm! And the core is 508mm high, almost waist-high to a man? It's only half a meter there! A 520mm projectile is twice as thick as a 457mm!!! No! It's only 63mm! The 610mm core is again shown 2 times wider than the 600mm projectile - what is the author smoking?! In the photo, the guns for this caliber generally have a mortar with a caliber of 16-17 inches no more! You can even see the core under the soldier's foot! And the photo is not of the French, but of the American army. Why are a mortar shell and a mortar shell having the same caliber of 914mm so different in width?

Poor use of images for several guns. Using a US Civil War mortar to represent the Belgian piece is confusing. The British 18" is pictured on a Lord Clive class monitor which was more stable than HMS Furious which would have shaken itself apart. Pronunciation is fairly poor too.
Very wrong, the largest gun carried on a warship was Mons Meg. 510mm mounted on The Michael Scotland flagship.
There are smaller rounds that pack a bigger punch. This whole thing is full of issues
