Stoner has turned into my favourite metal scene, been going to Desertfest in London for the past 7 years, the friendliest metal scene with the deepesr slowes grooves
I think what I love about Stoner Metal (apart from just like riff based metal already) is that the songs hit a nice length where they make for great background music, but if I'm in the mood to sit down and listen to some riffs the songs are long enough to satisfy me. Also I never looked into Stoner Metal for ages cause I've never been interested in any drug culture, but once I realized it was another Black Sabbath spin-off genre I actually started listening to it and freaking loved it. Stoner Metal def hits differently to stoner rock.
You pretty much put into words why I find stoner metal so enjoyable. It's a great subgenre of metal to put on and just relax and vibe to, or while you're doing a menial task to make it feel more fun. I also slept on it for the same reason, until I heard Kyuss and was instantly hooked (alongside the obvious Black Sabbath influences).
My favorite genre 😎 I grew up on thrash, hardcore, grunge, technical death metal and whatnot, but as I got older, lazier and less angry stoner/doom suits me the best.
I love how the parody comes from affection. The best bit' after the line: "The food came alive... Yeahhhh... RIFF!!" First thought: "Man, they sure nailed the stoner cliches, pfft, RIFF... " Next thought: "Wait up, FUCK YEAH, RIFF! That's the point. RIFF"
I’m not sure what their genre is called, but I like the band OM a lot. You were bang on with the post punk how-to, the song you ended up making was genuinely good!
@@acidwizzardbastard What’s the difference with stoner rock and metal these days? A lot of the bands mentioned in this video are stoner rock to me. Also there are sludge and stoner doom bands. Very little actual metal. Seems like everything stoner is just labeled as metal nowadays.
@@raatopantsepretty much because of the heavy Black Sabbath influence, what with Sabbath essentially creating heavy metal in the first place. That's why sludge metal is called so, even though a fair few bands (Eyehategod and Iron Monkey spring to mind) are essentially just punk and hardcore bands that really like Sabbath, St. Vitus and Trouble. It's basically 'metal' by default.
It was maybe a little over a year and a half to two years ago when I first started listening to some desert rock mixes. Mixes that mix psychedelic, stoner, and doom together and honestly it's got me hooked. It makes me think of road trips through the dusty middle of nowhere, big vans, motorcycles with sidecars, and muscle cars trudging through the desert. I really have come dig it. I don't have any real starting attachment either these mixes really got me hooked. I'm actually about to make a trip down to Southern Utah, and Colorado. I've got a mix of Stoned Jesus, 1000Mods, The Dead Pirates, Drive by Wire and more ready to vibe as I drive through the beautiful barren wasteland that is Utah. Lol. I used to be Mormon too. Never thought I would vibe with music inspired by the devils lettuce, but hell I certainly dig that stoner doom vibe now. I haven't even tried weed yet, but screw it the vibe alone makes me feel cool as a cucumber and alive.
I've also heard it referred to as "Heavy Stoner Rock", which seems popular with Southwest vibes, heavy melodic undertones, overtones, or everywhere-in-between tones.
There used to be a festival called Stoner Hands of Doom. I went to it one year in Phoenix in the early 2000s, with a friend who was doing a write-up on it in Metal Maniacs. They had everything from stoner bands to death-doom. Groovy!
You're a master at video editing, sound quality and genre knowledge. I am jealous of your capabilities. To add to this, Bong Wizard is the best band ever. 👍
I was honestly feeling kind of down so thanks for uploading this! You're definitely one the best metal channels on UA-cam. Also, was AL wearing koala socks?
I just rewatched the movie "Who Am I - Kein System ist sicher" with my cousin (his first time watching the movie), and I feel like one of the character "Paul" looks similar to someone on UA-cam, but I can't recall it... Finally at the end of the movie I realize that it's you that I was thinking about...
“About halfway to Bend, the road began to twist and vibrate…. Had to pull over until the *Furr* began to subside. The shoulder was wide - and the gape of the Alligator was wider….”
Stoner metal is the fun brother of the family.. sleep and a few other bands made stoner rock great!!!! A fantastic start to the year!!! This making a pizza part was fresh.. haha i made a food joke 🤣
This subgenre has not fundamentally changed in nearly 50 years and I'll never get tired of it.
Yeah. I mean, Stoners ARE slow, so...
I've gotten tired of it after 3 years of listening. Most stoner bands are just lazy af which is very fitting
Agree
@@ileutur6863 Most stoner bands are just Sabbath clones.

I’m curious how long are the bands sets?😂
@Punk Guy desertfest is the name of the festival...... not the geographical location.
Next one starts May 5th.
@@psycheadfuzzfreak830 never long enough.
At Desertfest this weekend 🤘
@elephantchilds
Is that on Arrakis?

*The original track could virtually pass on as an unreleased DOWN song.*
Gotta love ❤️ Andri & the gang for giving us another solid banger!
I just feel stoned from the visuals already. Highly effective.
My favorite genre 😎

This literally is my exactly feeling and journey to stoner metal hahaha 🤣
Melvins should be your favorite band then 😊
Same. ...and I have seen the Melvins twice (that I remember).
@@xWESTICLESx I am a big fan. Their new record Tarantula Heart is pretty sweat
Ah Stoner Metal, the perfect music to listen to while drunk.
Spot on lol
"I rolled all the insurance into blunts" was a genius line!
Y'all make some of the best songs. They just seem to capture the essence of the genre
Holy shit you nailed the Sabbath-esque tempo change
“You were playing guitar for like 3 hours”
“Were we recording?”
“Yes.”
“Then we have a career!”
GOAT shit skits only on pagefire lmao
I've been waiting for this video

How can one single video be so funny, educational and groovy at the same time?
Another great one! Glad you showed a little Clutch. I’ve been listening to them since before they were considered stoner metal.
I’m not sure what their genre is called, but I like the band OM a lot. You were bang on with the post punk how-to, the song you ended up making was genuinely good!
Drone
OM is more stoner rock with elements of drone and middle-eastern music, not quite stoner metal. Excellent music, though!

Steamed Hams, but the Aurora Borealis is in Pagefire's kitchen.
i used to be in a stoner rock band many years ago, and this is EXACTLY how we did it. also, that song was bad ass. you get thumbs for that
Why not release this one on 4/20 ? Would have fitted so well. Anyways another fun and great video. Love from your neighboring country Sweden
They are European so for them it would be 20/4... Doesn't quite have the same ring to it 😂

New video, thanks guys you've made my day. Greetings from the land of biscuits and bollocks
best sub genre in metal in my opinion
The bit of Tom Scott at the end is GOLD!
I love me some stoner metal. You can be totally straightedge, but still vibe to the heavy bass and crazy lyrics.
Seeing the moon from The Mighty Boosh really made me pine for my stoner days. You're a man of culture indeed
Oh damn, I was so close. I guessed Sludge Metal. Another awesome video.
Can't wait for Sludge and Industrial Metal How-to videos.
Post-metal as well
