Hey recently my old friend got arrested for this he slept with a 13 year old and he is 31. I don't know if drugs or alcohol was included but always smoked pot so that maybe be a factor.. He lives in San antonio Texas and his proxies are possession of marijuana or paraphernalia and theft.. His court date is next month.. But I'm just really curious how long will he get maybe.. Like I've read it could be 2-10 or it could be 25yrs. Also how well will he be treated in prison for his crime? Will he have to be secluded from the gp?

How come some sex offenders only get probation and not time in jail?
In Texas the legislator allows for probation and deferred adjudication for certain offenses of a sexual nature. Almost all of them still have a ten-year or lifetime registration requirement. If you are registering as a sex offender, you are still under a number of restrictions and conditions.
The range of punishment exists so that a punishment that best fits the crime can be imposed.
Because prosecutors and judges have too much power, and the State Legislatures would not have instituted mandatory sentencing which would make subjective decision making by judges impossible. We should have mandatory sentencing for all violent crimes.
So what? Both of them are crime .
Yes 100% sexual assault is a felony of 2nd degree, but can be a 1st degree felony for Bigamy or prohibited relationships in the family. Or a state jail felony if a doctor conducts a procedure with a donors reproductive material without the persons consent.
Under aggravated sexual assault is just a straight felony of the 1st degree.
