- Hi there! Welcome to my first video on UA-cam. It has officially been 1 whole year since I moved to Mexico and thought, geez, I should start sharing my life here because I think it's really cool! Also don't mind how sick I sound, its been almost 3 weeks of not feeling super well.
Stay tuned for more videos, your feedback and support is really important to me. Also follow me on instagram and tiktok!
We moved to Mexico in 2021. Sold everything we had, including our cars, packed 5 suitcases, and left the US.
My wife is Mexican, and I'm from Reno, Nevada.
The people, the culture, the history, the acceptance, the high quality of life, and the easily affordable cost of living are all good reasons for moving.
We live in Morelia, Michoacan. We live VERY well on my monthly Social Security, with plenty left over to save. We rent a beautiful house, 3 bdrm/3 ba, 4000 sq ft, for $400 (USD). Utility bills, power, water, sewer, internet, are all one third or less, of that in the states.
Good luck in your new life! Mexico is an incredible place to be. The lack of stress alone, is worth the price of admission.
VIVA MEXICO 🇲🇽
Lmao you only live so easily and comfortable because you were blessed to be American and have American benefits….My people in Mexico suffer greatly from poverty and its hard to make a “high quality standard of living”
Is you social security from USA?
Mexico is one of the best places in the world to move to…maybe the best for its culture, traditions, architecture, magic towns, modern cities beaches, gastronomy, music, vibe, it’s people and plus all those things still a very affordable country!
Definitely, history, art, culture, gastronomy, wonderful people. Mexico has the largest number of world-heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in the Americas!.
Cheers!
Liar, Liar!!!, quit saying bullshit you assume to say that Mexico is good but for you Americans you hate Mexico and its people the mexicans you are racists, you are awfuls, you are mean, with all of us feeling superior in everywhere and mistreating us and asking us racist questions.
I hear the water in Mexico is really good.

I just moved a few weeks ago. ditto working on the language , trying to buy a car.. I moved here near rock climbing and Mexican friends . I knew this and tried to prepare but definitely not a great place for those who care deeply about the treatment of animals especially where i am. I see most expats aren’t too concerned either. Most states bullfighting is still legal. Animal neglect and abuse is a way of life.
Hey girl 💕 I am also Utah native and I've been living in Oaxaca since June 2021 ☀️ abrazos amiguita
do you know much about the ado bus app? we are going to mexico in may and want to know the prices but can’t get the app in the UK! Was wondering if someone could help and download the app and let me know some of the prices on there😭
@@claudias7628 ultra cheap prices, depends on where you want to go and the type of bus
@@claudias7628 hey girl just saw this. I never use the app, I just go on their website, but it is still a pain, even here in Mexico!! I would recommend using a vpn if you are having difficulties. But overall, I wouldn't stress too much. Busses are very affordable and usually within a reasonable price range. Enjoy your trip! You'll have a great time! Abrazos 💖
That's awesome! You look like Miesha Tate BTW 😂
Really nice to hear your story. I also moved to Mexico, but I am fortunate enough to know the language. I consider you to be very brave, for making the leap. I wish you the best on your amazing journey.
Wow you are so beuatiful.
I love hearing about your time in Mexico. I lived in CDMX for 9 months and I miss it so badly. It’s cool to see how your life unfolds there!!
Your video is really well done and professional!
Plus you are gorgeous!
I always wanted to learn Spanish and I went to Mexico for 6 months and wound up staying for three years!
I'm back in Canada now but you are inspiring me to maybe move back 💕
Se que ya tienes un año acá en México pero cómo se dice más vale tarde que nunca, así que bien venida y espero que el tiempo que estés te la pases increíble.
Saludos desde Puebla México
Congratulations on your move to Mexico. I’ve always wanted to do that myself. Just didn’t have the guts to do it , and I’m Latino from Puerto Rico , but live in expensive New Jersey and I hope one day I can move to Mexico too , it’s a very beautiful country , keep learning Spanish and it will make your stay much better,
Hello Boricua wish you the best in you future leap to Mexico.

Why not go back to PR ?
@@frankmontez6853 I think he like to experience Mexico and I think that would be great.

Welcome aboard guera. I am from Chicago, been living in Mx City going on 10 years. Met my wife here. The state of Veracruz…a less tourist travelled gem in Mexico. Especially the coffee region around Orizaba. Enjoy!
Hey just want to say that it’s my first time watching you and I love th way you think and embrace things but still keep it real. You are living life like it should and your horizons have no limits! Ánimo y éxito!
I can really appreciate your video. I am going thru the same experiences moving here .
Learning Spanish has been extremely difficult. I love living in Mexico City
En serio no hablas español , veo que tienes nombre hispano ,

Hi, nice to know you and your channel. Thanks for sharing your experiences living in Mexico. Im a fan😊👍🏼
Great video thank you for sharing your experience. One day I hope to be completely mobile but for right now I am happy to make frequent exploratory trips to Mexico. I think it is great when people share their experiences so that other people can see different ways of making it happen.
Great video...I jus subscribed.Im going to be 61 in a couple months and don't want to wait much longer to make the move to Mexico.
I lived in the US and Mexico. US is more stressful, everything is getting more expensive everywhere. Mexico is a lot less stressful, a lot less expensive and a lot more fun to live there. I'd love to move to Mexico but my kids are here in the US and we are a close family. I'd miss them if I move to Mexico. Otherwise I wouldn't think it twice. Mexico is a better place to live.
My mom is from Mexico. I never lived in Mexico but she is going to be moving in about two years ans im going with her. I visited Mexico several times and yes Mexico is a lot less stressful and more social life❤
My biggest fear would be earning money there, since the wages there are so low 😅
I admire the fact that you are touched by the people risking their lives looking for a new life
Blessings and best wishes
Just subscribed to your channel, I love seeing this kind of videos, you sound really good in spanish.. good luck with your channel would like to see more videos, looking forward to that😊
I've just moved to Mexico as well, was great to get some information from your video! You have a new subscriber :-)
Welcome to Mexico. Looking forward for your videos.
I am from Monterrey Mx, happy to hear you've been well welcome and that you are happy with your decision.
You are doing great for your first. Keep it going
Nice to hear that you are enjoying your life there
Congrats on your journey and much peace n joy.
Love this. Glad you did the move. I think I want to do the same. Change is good. 👏
You are truly living the best life.....💓
Thank you for sharing your experience with us
Congrats on 1 year! Please give information on how to contact your Spanish Teacher!!! Thank you.
¡Bien venida a mi país Güerika, you welcome and wish you all te best y disfruta muchos lugares de México!💯🇲🇽👍
OMG! I can't believe you just packed up and moved! How awesome is that! This is a dream of mine! I am mostly concerned about safety and I have not decided where I'd like to settle. I've been to many different Central American cities in Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, and Belize. It is my favorite place to travel and did I mention it has ALWAYS been a dream of mine? I already work remote as a software developer in the U.S. and am sure I could travel without missing a beat with my employment. The only reason I have not done it already is I have three children, one on collage and two still in high school but I am kinda looking to the day when I have that empty nest and could make a dramatic change like this.
We are looking at similar places, we have been to mexico, el salvador and honduras but as vacations. As a serious scouting trip we explored belize and loved the country but not sure of the safety and economy there long term.
Te felicito por tu primer video. I'm so glad you like like my country, I live in the US for many years and I'm planning to move back.
Fun video, thanks so much for posting!
You are an open-minded beautiful young woman whose honesty and simplicity comes over powerfully! The future of America lies in the hands of people like yourself. Traveling, meeting people from other cultures etc etc. makes us come to the realization that we are all One Human Family and should try to live in Peace and Harmony with one another! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos with your handsome boyfriend! Blessings always. I
Your comment was my favorite. You write about very important things. I'm from Russia. And, yes, the author of the video is great, and I even fell in love with her. ))
Erika, if you understand everything in small gatherings and hold entire conversations, then you’re doing great! To be able to understand fast language plus loud background noise and the local slang requires years of exposing yourself to that ambient constantly. Give yourself some time and be kind to yourself. Time will come when you’ll feel like a native. Train yourself to THINK in Spanish. I can relate cause when I moved
from Cuba to the States I already spoke English but faced the same challenges. Now it’s all good. If I did it you can do it. Go girl!
Looking forward to hearing more!
Hi Güerita, I hope you feel good living here in MX, I´m learning English and I want to improve it and understand all you said in this video. I have just seen it once but I´m sure the next time will be better. If you want to learn Spanish there are here a lot of people who can help you.
Que estés muy bien, saludos!
Ha sido lindo escuchar tu sencillez y respeto hacia este pedacito de tierra. México es de todos, sin fronteras ni razas ni clases sociales. Recibe un saludo también respetuoso desde CdMx.
Hello, has been a pleasure to hearing your lovely opinion about this little piece of land. México have it's doors open for everybody. México it's for all human people. Don't matters race neither social class. Welcome and enjoy México.
Welcome to Mexico, congrat for you channel and video :)
Good luck and looks amazing down there I’m considering moving to Mexico in the future life here in the US sucks things are too expensive, wages aren’t keeping up with inflation and the living costs, cold winters in my region and too many laws and regulations here a few others I talk to are open to the idea of moving to Mexico as well! I also kind of want to be able to speak Spanish fluently one day become bilingual
Good luck with your channel!
Esperando el siguiente video. Saludos desde Mérida Yucatán México
Hello, I am very happy to know that you reside in my country. I live in California United States; but I am from the state of Nayarit, Mexico. I congratulate you for adopting my Mexico to live.

You are a great storyteller. I hope you can make more videos soon.
I have been in US for 7 months , US is a country full of opportunities but very lonely place to live. Now you realize that living in Mexico. I am latin but not Mexican
Nice. There are a lot of thing we can learn about each other. I like that part of american culture, that is industrious. The way factories and companies are established. Mexican values, culture, family. We enjoy life differently in a less material way.

México is not safety !
@@polotoabuelo Do not lie. In general, Mexico is quite safe. There are danger zones in every country in the world, but it is relatively easy to avoid them.
security is a good topic i guess, Greetings from Ensenada Baja California: )
@@polotoabuelo it is not as it was some years ago. Saying is not safetly is like to say US it is not safetly neither. Is it?
It is all relative.
You're right in saying "it's not as it was some years ago." In fact, since Covid, the cartels have become FAR worse. Americans are fed such BS about Mexico being so much nicer, safe and better , etc that it's a shame this is being perpetuated on social media when its' the exact opposite. I have lived in Zacatecas and to make a long story short, it's now the worst area of Mexico (the entire country is at an all time dangerous spike because of cartel activity) to live in or move in. It was safer before Covid and that's saying a lot. Mexico has NEVER been considered a "safe" place to live in. Our media just loves to glorify it because it's cheaper to live there and the culture and people are warm. Don't fool yourselves please. I have seen it for my own eyes and lived it. Mexico is not safe whatsoever.@@miguel-dh4jc
Wow!! Fellow Utahn here! crazy I was just in Guadalajara and found you as I was looking for places in Mexico to live! ha just tired of Boring Salt Lake City and the endless Snow! lol yes Mexico is the perfect country for any extrovert! what a lovely couple and cant wait to watch your upcoming videos! cheers from the Jello capital of the world Salt Lake City!
Enjoyable and informative video, thanks for sharing :). Love your earrings by the way 🎉
You are very welcome here! ☺ I´m from Queretaro and yes, even here has becoming very usual to see ex pats everywhere! Keep enjoying México! 😎
Would love a link for your teacher! My plan is to have a very similar journey to you, but probably start in Querétaro.
I would like to hear more thoughts on Guadalajara and why you think it's unsafe for a solo traveler. Thanks!!
Probably because she is a woman, Guadalajara is a big city so for women can be difficult, for men there is no problem. If you are a decent person and do nothing illegal then you are going to be very safe, but always ask locals which areas are ok to go, just in case.
Would love to see more about the area where you live in Veracruz.
Erika, You are an amaising, beautiful and humble woman!!! Dios te bendiga y proteja!!! Gracias por el blog!!!
Hola Erika saludos ojalá y te guste Mexico y vivas muchos años aqui😊

Gracias por tu genial video! You chose some beautiful shots of food and scenery (especially places with freshwater features). Where is the place at 6:03 with that blue water and bridge? Also, what the diablos is a "spicy link"?
That’s exactly what I wanted to know! I think I can guess 😂
13:52 "Erika hay que hablar Español en esta casa" wow, your spanish y very clear and really good pronunciación
Your boyfriend is lucky. You're so pretty. Enjoy your new life!
I'm from Utah and grew up Mormon as well. I've been planning a move to Mexico for the last few months. As of now, Guadalajara and Merida are my two top choices. I've heard that Guadalajara can be a little overwhelming as a first Mexican city to live in. Did you feel that way at first?
Guadalajara is the top 3 city in Mexico, it has 5 million people, so it would be more stressful to live in, I'm aware of this because I got friends out there and I'm planning to move there soon if you earn less than 10-12k pesos (600-650 USD) you'll not survive.
Come visit Queretaro, safe and perfect weather dude. It's a gorgeous city too. With 150,000 USD you live in a very nice neighborhood.
SLC has really grown in the last 10 years. It's a much busier city now. I can't believe how different it felt in 2021...even during the pandemic...compared to 2013, when I was there for 3 months. I moved there from San Francisco (lived in Los Angeles before SF, and Manhattan before LA...so each city was smaller than the last). After 3 months, I was back in LA for summer school. It will definitely be much busier, and larger, than SLC. The population of GDL is 5.5M, so about 4M more people than SLC. It's far less overwhelming than Mexico City, which is more like Athens, if you've been there, or Manhattan.
If you can handle one of the big cities of the US, you should be ok in Guadalajara. You have to keep in mind, she's a young, attractive female. It's different for a male than for a gorgeous, blonde-haired, light-eyed young female. Everywhere a beautiful young woman with a slim body and long blond hair goes, some males will just pursue them like crazy. This is as true in London and Paris, as it is in Mexico (and blonds are rare in Mexico, especially with light eyes)...but it's a very patriarchal culture in Mexico, so females have very little power, and even the young Mexican women who are attractive have to worry about getting raped or kidnapped by the cartel and held for ransom. It just happened in Queretaro last week. She was found alive, thankfully, but probably severely psychologically traumatized (PTSD)...if not worse. Females have to watch out for sexual predators everywhere we go because they hunt us like prey, especially females in their teens and twenties. That's just a sad reality of being female, especially a young female (just like child predators hunt children all over the globe). Adult men rarely have this problem, although males do get raped and if they have money in Mexico males also get kidnapped and held hostage until a ransom is paid.
Merida is extremely hot and very humid, especially in the summer. Just be prepared for sweltering weather.
Most of the murder and violent crime in SLC is committed by someone the victim knows (and I know this because I've read the stories from 2014 to recently). Very few remain unsolved because most victims are related to the perpetrator either by family, romantic attachment, divorce, work, or "friendship", althoughs someone who murders you was never your friend.
You have to pay attention in ANY big city, especially when you do NOT speak the language. If you speak Spanish, you'll do better than if you don't.
Good luck! Safe travels~
How do people access medical insurance there?
@@kittybooboo6060 Private? I have AXA, you call an agent and choose a plan and buy it. I pay about 27,000 pesos a year with great coverage. If you are a legal resident at least, you get social security and public hospital, just as an emergency, the service is not the best but you can use it.
you sound pretty good when you speak Spanish.....so trust that you are naturally picking it up. Glad you are following your dream! Good luck with your channel!
Your partner is adorable....love the weight lifting scene in the gym. Please take the video a little slower for those special segments. Would love to see more of Mexico!
I remembered Justin perm he and his family moved from Hawaii to puebla , he said it became unaffordable to live in honolulu , he lost his mom so when he was sent as LDS church missionary he was " adopted by a mexican family in veracruz , there he learnt spanish so good that everywhere they go they speak spanish to his family , so his children became bilingual since toddlers
Can you do a video comparing Utah to where you live now and another one comparing Guadalajara and Veracruz?
