I think it depends on the specific plugins in each chain, but from my experience most presets were close to zero latency and worked well for tracking. I used a basic interface and monitored through Pro Tools, works the same in every DAW.
Slapping someone's name on a preset...most of the time means nothing except for name recognition=profit. Not really useful. Need to try this out, but hopefully, there is better descriptive tagging. At least for a food starting point
