    Hi friends. Roland and I have really heavy taste buds ie we love slightly saltier food. So if you are not like us, please add only 1.5 teaspoon(s) of salt to the marinade. You can also give the skin a light wipe after you have air-dried it in the fridge before airfrying it. Happy cooking!

    OMG! You are brilliant 💓 air fryer saved me a mess to clean up oven! It's much easier to clean air fryer:) i was bit sceptical, I used my bacon which we smoked few days ago, therefore it was already marinated in my spice and much more dry, I followed punching skin , aluminium foil, salt and baking soda on the skin. Left in fridge overnight, cleaned skin next day and did the rest like you showed in video. Came like Haven! Skin so crunchy and GOOD!!! Next time will buy bacon I will follow you from beginning to end, with less salt ;). Thanks so much you guys are fantastic! Xxx

    • @spicenpans

      Hi Cluefs. I wouldn’t recommend so because hua diao wine changes its taste after prolong cooking. If you can’t get hold of Chinese cooking wine, you can use some ginger juice instead. The purpose of these ingredients is to remove any nasty pork taste. Hope this helps.

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  5 років тому

      Hi Lisa. After trying both with and without, we felt that even without the fermented beancurd doesn’t really affect the overall taste of the roasted pork. Kindly note that if you’re not so much into salty food, you can reduce the amount of salt applied on the skin - maybe reduce one third teaspoon of salt. Happy cooking!

      @@spicenpans oh wow...thanks for the speedy reply. When u said salt.. do u mean the one u rubbed on the skin n leave overnight, or the crusted salt that is removed midway? Last question.. how long shld i bake for a 1.4kg? Thanks

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  5 років тому

      If you’re using oven, you can use the same amount of time that we’re using in the other video. No worries that the pork won’t be cooked because the overall time of cooking is pretty Long. If you’re using the oven recipe, you don’t have to do any changes to the amount of salt used. Hope this helps.

      @@spicenpans i did the roast pork last night and it was almost a roaring success. 95% of the skin was crackling...only some bits was still soft. I roasted 1 hr top n bottom heat, then moved the rack near the top for 20mins top n bottom heat. After that 20mins.. i realised the middle part of the skin is still soft n the edges crispy. So i turn the settings to top and bottom fan forced n chuck into the oven for the last 20. Cld it be it wasn't fan forced the 1st 20mins that why some bits r still soft?

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  6 років тому

      Hello Massimo. Greetings from Singapore! Hope all is well in Switzerland. We hope to visit your country one day. Regarding the oven setting, you can set your temperature at 180C - preheat for at least 30 mins first. Then put the pork belly in and roast at the same temperature for 40 mins. Then you can set your temp at 240C and roast for another 20 mins. Please take a close look out of your pork belly when roasting at 240C. If it starts browning too much, you can remove the pork from the oven. Hope this helps and happy cooking!
      Hi Massimo- kindly note the changes in timing. By the way, if you don’t want your meat to be too salty, please reduce the amount use. The amount of salt used on skin can remain. Happy cooking!

    Hi, just did a test run by making a cooking a smaller portion of the pork belly. Everything turned out well but there was a bitter taste from the skin due to the baking soda. Any recommendations on how to remove the baking soda taste?

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  5 років тому +1

      Maybe you can try wiping the skin first so that you rid it of the baking soda. See if this works. Happy cooking!

    So glad I found this channel! I just made a large piece of pork belly, but I have a smaller one that I will make in the air fryer. My air conditioning is not working right now so it will be much better to use the air fryer. Thanks for the video!

      Hi Shea. Yes you can use alcohol like cognac - use cheap ones because good ones are to be drank. Haha. The purpose of the alcohol is to remove any funky taste of the pork. Hope this helps. Happy cooking
