I think Robert could get a loan to hire a couple of faceless men to start knocking off Tywin's main entourage.

Robert is already in debt to both House Lannister and The Iron Bank. In a Feast for Crows (or Dance with Dragons) when the Iron Bank turned down the Iron Throne, all the other banks in Essos also turned down Cersei's agents. King Robert is going to have no luck on that one.
In truth, the Iron Throne's indebtedness may well be Tywin's key to winning this conflict.

@@AceAcabras or tywin could just make peace, as opposed to going to war because someone found out his kids were fucking each other. I mean, that's just a bad look all around.

Tywin getting his panties in a bunch as though he wouldn't have killed cersei and her kids in one sitting, then have his entire army at King's landing already if this had happened to him😂

Very interesting! My thoughts- If I were advising Tywin, I would point out that as good as the Golden Company is and of course try to get them, but to get some other companies in and introduce them into realms as soon as we know their main hosts have marched. For example, make sure you have a cavalry based company to set the North on fire as soon as the Northmen are known to have left; that sort of thing. I would also mention making an overture to the Iron Islands see what the Greyjoys might do.
I would also mention that for the price of the Golden Company, you could also hire the Faceless Men to end King Robert almost immediately and perhaps Renly and Stannis turn on each other trying to seize the Iron Throne for themselves and thus break the hosts of what is coming for us.
From Renly/the Barratheon's part, one tactic I would do is make is clear that the time of House Lannister is over and ask their lords to remain in the keeps and ignore Tywin's call for his banners, because Tywin and House Lannister will be uprooted and King Robert will be giving Casterly Rock to whatever House in the Westerlands stands up to Tywin and bends the knee to King Robert.

Some good ideas! Definitely try to get the Iron Islands on their side, if possible. The Golden Company is of zero value if their transports are prevented from landing on the continent. Indeed, with a decent fleet, they could blockade Lannisport or even annihilate the Lannister fleet.
Assassinating Robert would be extraordinarily expensive. He's the king, surrounded by loyal bannerman, is protected in the Red Keep and is a fierce warrior even now. Even so, if it were done I doubt Renly and Stannis would fight for the throne. Stannis is the successor by right, is entrenched in Kings Landing and has proved himself in battle; his bannerman are almost certainly behind him. Renly is a fine speaker but this is war, his followers would be few. Renly would have zero hope unless he abandoned Kings Landing entirely and gained a new army to support him, which seems unlikely. I can't imagine the fickle Tyrell's joining him in this instance.
I strongly suspect the Lannister's bannermen won't betray Tywin (the guy's freaking scary), but I'll bet their loyalty would not be as strong as it could have been. Almost the entire kingdom is rallied against them and the news of incest would shake their faith. That translates to low morale on the battlefield. Tywin needs some early wins IMO or he's going have to deal with desertions and other problems.

@@pyrrhicvictory6707 1- Obviously the Greyjoys have little reason to be in with the Lannisters unless both are inclined to separate from the Iron Throne, but the Greyjoys already tried that and failed. It would take some major league enticing to get the Greyjoy's to Tywin's side.
2- If the Golden Company were hired in private, well, even if they started to make their move, it seems Varys should be able to discover they are coming. Ideally the Golden Company would make their landing AFTER Robert's host has marched to meet Tywin. We saw in ADWD that even with a massed landing they still scattered all over the lands. And remember that Jon Connington is there as in the guise of Griff, and if Kevan is going to directly entreat them, he will recognize Jon Connington and realize something else is going on.
3- yes, the Faceless Men is the most expensive option; Baelish said that one could hire 30,000+ sellswords and save money then to hire a Faceless Man to kill a merchant prince and he shuddered to think how much it would cost to kill Danerys. But it is also clear that if hired, Roberts' death as assured, and I think that is clear based on their ability to infiltrate and ultimate poison or kill Robert.
4- the last time Robert died without a heir apparent, Renly and Stannis DID openly fight each other, and Stannis went so far as to entreat Mellisandre to use that shadow freak thing she did to murder Renly. So if Robert were to be struck down by a Faceless Man, yes there would be an issue. Robert could still legitimize Edric Storm whom is of House Florent, a very powerful house of the Reach.
5- The Lords of the Wastelands have every reason to fear Tywin, but it only takes one to inform Robert via raven when Tywin is planning. If Robert's host enters the Wastelands, that might by the moment that the rest of the Wastelands abandon Tywin or even turn on him in hopes of becoming the next Lord of Casterly Rock.

@@AceAcabras I was thinking Robert would have a good chance at allying with Greyjoys though.
I disagree that Stannis and Renly would contend. Yes, Renly and Stannis did fight each other in the original, but that was before they were in Kings Landing and back when Renly had an army at his back (most of the Stormland bannermen fought along with Stannis in this version, I doubt they'll backstab Stannis just because Renly is prettier) and he was already in an alliance with the Tyrells. That means he'd either have to abandon the city (and who in their right mind would abandon the strongest city in Westeros to follow him?) or rebel INSIDE the city (which is insane).
Any chance he MAY have had was destroyed when he spoke to the Tyrells to convinced them to join Robert's cause. This raises the question: If he wants the throne so badly, why would he be willing to betray Stannis and not Robert?
For this reason, there's simply no point in hiring Faceless assassins to kill Robert. It would be an obscenely expensive endeavour, might not succeed and even if it does ultimately achieves little.
I'm not sure about Tywin though. A clever lord could use this to his advantage and feed false information to Robert to curry favour with Tywin, which could be disastrous. Trying to get his bannermen to rebel is a risky strategy,
