Rewatched the show 3 times, I always try to keep an eye out for details like this - and somehow I have never noticed it until this comment. Brilliant.
This is the first time I'm hearing Simon Pegg doing an American accent. Like a lot of British actors, he's pretty good.
We grow up watching a lot of American TV so it comes pretty easy to a lot of us and obviously still as adults we watch a lot of American media

Homelander is getting more and more unstable. Killing a member of the 7 again like that would most certainly end very very badly. The only thing keeping Homelander from killing all of them is that he simply doesn't really want to at this point. He's had countless opportunities to kill Butcher and if he truly hunted for them and tried to kill them, like he would if they killed A-Train, they'd be fucked

Yeah, because game overing a celebrity in your father's house wouldn't give the billion dollar company full of unhinged superheroes any cards to play against you, would it?
It saddens me that Hughie didn't take his revenge here. It's crazy to me that you'd let the world's fastest man, a guy you know who can pulp you in between blinking, live *knowing* that he knows who you and your family is.
'But Vought would come after them if he did that'....bro, Vought was already gunning for The Boys anyways, and A-Train had info on them that wouldn't make it to Vought if A-Train bit it right here.

It's because Hughie is too moral for that. His entire character is based around being one of the few decent people in the boys universe. If he took his revenge he'd be no better than all of the rest of them, so he takes the high road and proves that he's the better man
@@elmacho1336 So Hughie was "taking the high road" when he blew Translucent up? A man who he had significantly less reasons to harm than A-Train? Forget the moral quandary for a second and just think about how that looks. From a purely practical standpoint all the reasons for Hughie to kill Translucent apply even more so to A-Train, a man who actively threatened to kill Hughie's father, knew who he was, and was capable of annihilating The Boys at later date with ease, and had shown the intent to do so. That's not a very good reason to let A-Train live.
As for the moral quandary, that's trite, childish, and reductive. Hughie isn't a 'better person' for letting a murderous monster like A-Train live, he's a coward and he spat all over his girlfriend's grave by not finishing the job in this scene. Reducing it to 'If this character takes justifiable revenge against someone who is actively trying to kill him he's no better than the literal mass murderers he's fighting against' is totally ridiculous bro. If letting A-Train live resulted in Hughie's dad getting killed by him in season 2 would people be defending Hughie's actions here? When Hughie (rightfully) plans for the assassination of Neuman or Homelander in later seasons is he now "no better than the rest of them"?
No, I reject this idea in its entirety and refuse to countenance it as a valid argument at all.
On a related note, even if Hughie was too much of a coward why is KIMIKO not finishing the job? This whole scene reeks of giving plot armor to a character so they could keep an actor around, which is the problem people have with modern television in the first place.
@@kendallhunte2055 But it only paid off because the writer's wrote it that way. If A-train had rightfully been taken care of here a completely different set of circumstances would have occurred going forward. Nothing A-Train has done in later seasons is A-Train specific.

It's not a save when you helped plan the ambush and it goes according to plan. 'Save' implies that Hughie was in danger and needed a rescue. He was in control the whole time. A-train just didn't realize it.

Tbh if a-train super speed was anything like the flash speed he would stopped Hughie and took the needle from his hand but unfortunately plot has to be a factor lol
Considering that quick napkin math on their speeds puts the flash at casually 874,337 times faster than A-Train, then yeah, guy coming down off drugs who isn't acting 100% optimally is definitely slower than peak flash
The flash perceives everything at super speed. if he wanted to, he could read an entire library in like five minutes. I believe A-Train just runs fast. Also he's drugged out in this scene.
@@AccursedCloud Flash doesn't perceive everything at superspeed when he doesn't want to, It's a misconception because people just assume without reading any of the source material, Seeing everything in slow motion would make him insane because of boredom, and his speed perception kicks is automatically when something major or life-threatening is going on and sometimes it happens randomly like the time when he was talking to Iris's dad in the comics The Flash (1987) #174 and The Flash (1987) #213, He particularly says it in the comics that he needs to zone out and use his cruising speed so that it would feel instant instead of running for days. Speedster powers are way more complicated than people may think, every speedster purposefully uses their crusing speed and let loose of their full potential so that they wouldn't feel that sheer boredom and lonliness

A-train makes a mistake and does the wrong thing out of it because of his status and Hughie proceeds to do everything possible to make his life a living hell. not sure how that's "The right thing to do" but aight.
A-Train has murdered multiple people at this point in time, and even before killing Popclaw (which objectively is all on him, not Hughie) he's canonically run through multiple people before. A-Train deserves to have a living hell life, he's a monster of a person and people just blow that off because A-Train just so happens to work with even more monstrous people.
If you think A-Train is the one who deserves sympathy in this situation you've been successfully manipulated. He is no stranger to "accidental" murders, his addiction to V has made him very unstable, and *he* is the one who killed Popclaw. Not Hughie or the Boys. He valued his secret stash of V more than her.
@@ApexGale I don't disagree but we've seen that under said addiction, he's not a terrible person. definetely has his flaws, but as we can clearly see in the newest season. he's making an effort. not saying he deserves sympathy, maybe just some hope for him.
