Shot at Wilson Library at the University of Minnesota and the late-lamented Overflow Cafe at University Ave and 29th Ave. SE, which building has since been torn down and replaced with a five-over-one. She's wearing earphones throughout in order to listen to and mouth the words without disturbing folks in the active library and cafe.
This basically sums up my entire high school career. Bravo to Reina for speaking out on behalf of all us Library Girls out there! (And bonus points for rhyming AC/DC with Puccini.)
"library" has several conotations..as it were...This is rapidly becomming one of my fav elle and toni tunes..along with The Cooling and The Fall..In my USAF days..1969-75, if you worked "in the library" ..you were working for the C**..Most of my military life was working in the library..big fun with great rewards !! and you wrote your song about your experience..all the better for it..thanks !!
holy crap, I liked this video years ago when I was in high school. I now -just- graduated from the college that you filmed this in. I actually worked at that library while I was there.
I'm a librarian and a musician. This is original, clever and savvy. It is SO much better than the horrid "Librarians do Gaga" video. Congratulations, well done.
Kid, you are fantastic! Coming from someone with two degrees in music composition and ten years' experience teaching songwriting/composition, keep this up, and don't ever let ANYONE tell you to quit! Great job - subbed! :)
This video and the related comments just confirm the idea that everyone feels the same way, and nobody every finds the significant other that actually understands them.
Another great song...recorded perfectly...love the tamborine...the finger snaps...the bass drum...I started to worry when I heard the phaser/wah? coming in on the guitar near the end, (actually listening to it again it might have been stereo pan) but the extra twang added to the intrinsic cuteness of the song...
Hoping to see Reina and friends when they perform in Sydney, April 2020, ten years after this sweet little song was made. Who gets to rhyme saucer with Chaucer? A class act, that who.
gorgeous and funny, reina getting more comfortable doing these vids, brilliant and playful, the music continues to develop reina's signature style, a total joy my favorite quote from My Antonia (Willa Cather): "The prayers of all good people are good."
Fun song and beautiful voice. My family went with us to the library once a week throughout the 50s and 60s. I've never gotten over the habit. Thank you!
@CharlieBray1987 My kids and I listen to this every morning as we gather their lunches and bags and such for school. They love it because it's catchy, I love that they finally found a song that encourages them to be smart!
This is awesome! I worked as a library page/clerk back in the day before I got my MLS... I can totally relate... I never found a guy who "drank margaritas and listened to AC/DC..." but my boyfriend at the time (who is now my husband) drank gin and listened to Steely Dan...
WOOO! Marry me? Our Reina is BACK! I love the song, and you're just so darned pretty to look at and soothing to listen to. I got a huge smile on my face while I was listening to this. You rock, kiddo!
I believe this is the first one of your videos I watched (because I am a librarian!) and I started following you soon after. I can't believe it's been as long as it has been! And you still put out excellent content!
@NevilleRhysBarnes It is American lit., It mostly takes place on the Nebraska prairie shortly after settlers started moving west. I never heard of it before I read it in school, myself.
i love your music that song really came to my heart thats why i have to say it dosent matter if your a computer geek or a glossy girl your a person and god loves you

I'm a librarian and a musician. This is original, clever and savvy. It is SO much better than the horrid "Librarians do Gaga" video. Congratulations, well done.
This is the song that converted me to Reina del Cid and it's still one of my favorites. I listen to all her songs - quietly, here in the corner.
Kid, you are fantastic! Coming from someone with two degrees in music composition and ten years' experience teaching songwriting/composition, keep this up, and don't ever let ANYONE tell you to quit! Great job - subbed! :)
