My advice regarding turbo, that I tell EVERY wrx owner. Either use a VF series turbo from a newage STI, preferably a VF35, VF34 or a VF30/43/48 (all the same turbo) OR a TD04-19T hybrid from Craig Bellworthy. With basic bolt on mods, decat up pipe (from a 2.5 or STI, not an Ebay job), injectors, fuel pump, 3 port boost solenoid and exhaust system will see around 330ish bhp with Andy mapping it. Thing is, thats a 50% hike in power vs standard BUT you're putting it through 20+ year old engine/gearbox/bushes/brakes etc. 4 pot front calipers will SUCK at that power level, so be prepared to hunt for a set of Brembos. You REALLY need to plan ahead, or you'll end up doing a lot of jobs twice, especially on that rear end refurb.
I have been on the lookout for a VF, but not seen much about that dont have the hairline crack in them, whats your thoughts on the crack and how it affects the life / performance of the turbo? Brembos are also on the list although again, they dont come up very often and aint cheap, been looking into alternative set ups but yet to decide on the best route.
I’d definitely go with body coloured roof, I hate cars with a different coloured roof, with gold rims I’d say the callipers will look better red but, it’s not the end of the world leaving them as they are being as it’s a damn good paint job on them. Looks like you are jumping down the rabbit hole chasing the rust repairs, but it’s definitely going to be worth it in the end buddy. Can’t wait to see this beauty finished and hear its burble 👍👍👍
Everyone is saying the same and i have to say i do agree. Yeah the rust needs to be dealt with unfortunatley, but in the long run itll be well worth it. Thankfully the other side is in much better condition than the side ive shown.
I agree David with the gold wheels. Initially I said thecalipers should be Cadbury Blue, but having seen it, and with the gold whells, I have changed my mind and suggest the calipers be painted red.
i have just bought a blobbeye wrx and thankfully all the welding has been dne, unfortuantly it is hard to find a subaru of that age now that is rust free. but its totally worth repairing them.
they are hard to find with all the work done and dont come cheap. With the enjoyment itll bring i agree, its well worth doing the repairs, the way the value is going on them, in the long run itll be worth it.

@@DavidMcBay the crack makes zero difference, all vf's do it. ICP sell brembo alternatives for £450 pair

Im with you on that. i thought the cadbury would look really nice but i just dont think the colour suits this type of car.
