      My problem has always been that when people are trying to say things "water cooker" i could MAYBE figure out what they were saying, but usually they say "Wajercooher?!?!?" and I'm sitting there going .....wat? Like, no remote attempt to explain what they're doing, and just keep saying the same bullshit over and over at me. Imagine the first item, Thongs, except no explanation, then when I find thongs for them, they act like im a moron. THEN, when they finally try to explain, its "Forkeeshendu" and grabbing motions. ...Motherfucker TRY. I'm trying SO HARD to understand you and you're not even APPROACHING an english word at any point.
      People like this who can at least pronounce english words even if they're the wrong words? A joy to work with, you can get there eventually. The amount of people whos 'second language' is mainly grunts in my life is insane and SO ANNOYING lmfao. Specifically when I need to get a check from them.

      Honestly, native English speakers don't understand English sometimes either (as a native speaker) I really doesn't make sense 😭 how did they come up with these words. It's also very very rare to understand old English or whatever it's called.
      Fun fact- there is a word for throwing a person out of a window, it's called defenestration. Only about 15% of English native speaker know this, and it surprises them to find out every time

      English is really difficult. Also, I believe anyone who is not learning a second language should keep their mouths shut if they want to judge people who are speaking a second language. And anyone who is learning a second language understands the struggle, so hopefully won’t judge. I’m learning Japanese. Still rough around the edges with it, and my hope is that native Japanese speakers don’t judge me for messing up. I’m doing my best. It’s a very hard language for English speakers to learn.

    • @lanmandragoran8337
      @lanmandragoran8337 5 місяців тому +3

      @@venmissa I'm just going to say this. Make sure the words you DO know, you say clearly. Its the only fucking thing that helps you make sense SOMEWHAT. Like the video. "Water. Cooker." Half the time people try to speak broken english to me, theres not a single english word in there that doesn't sound like a broken mess. You can do something logically with "water cooker". You cannot do anything with "Wahercoor" Which is about as far as many people get. Stick the basic words and people can at least try. Mumble everything and repeat it louder at them and you just get annoyance.
      Used to live with 2 guys from El Salvador, one who spoke very little english and the other whos grasp of English was basically nonexistant. So on one hand it was me trying to figure out what the older man was attempting to tell me, and on the other it was the younger man trying to figure out what I was trying to say. On both ends we at least made sure the words we DID know were said correctly and made clear that while maybe it wasn't the exact meaning of what we were trying to say, context could be used to get there. Very rarely did we have to resort to whipping out the phones and just doing a full google translate....and a few times, a few different google translates... same thing worded differently so that google would stop messing up. Hit the key notes and the context, don't mumble, you'll go far.

    I actually like these situations. I like meeting ppl who don't speak English very well and helping them. It's kind of fun and wholesome. Hearing how someone with another language understands and tries to communicate something they don't know. And it's fun to help them figure it out. I like seeing the satisfied face they have when I can understand what they are trying to say and help them.
