Thank you so much for making these videos. I rupturd my achilles tendon about 3 weeks ago and I ran into your videos. Your videos push me and motivate me that everything will be alright. Thank you so much for being my inspiration to push myself to recover from this terrible inury .🙏
How are you doing/feeling now? @king-xincbeats2016
Dude! This is huge 💪 thanks for sharing. I'm in week 3
Let’s get it! 💪🏾😤
I'm week 5 now
I'm week 1 after surgery. 3 weeks after it happened. Good luck bud
Thats such a big step in the journey. I’m currently in my second week and I got my boot replaced by the physio to something more snug.
Never knew the boot you had was made here in England! I guess its a bit pricey for the NHS.
Yes the UK is a great place. You will hear many saying it isn’t, but each to their own.
i am now in week 8 and was given the vacoped boot by the NHS, within the first week after a hard cast was removed.
1 week out from a full rupture, constant pain and Charlie horses in my calf. Got the vacoped and it’s way more comfortable than what they gave me at the doctors office
I’m in the middle of week 5, hoping to achieve what you have here. Getting close!
You’ve got this!
Hope all is going well. You are lucky to have been walking at 5 weeks. My Surgeon has a much more conservative approach. May be my age(63) or the fact it was an insertional rupture. Today was 9 weeks and I am walking finally in the boot. Have the Evenup but still off kilter due to the wedges in the boot. The 2d wedge comes out in a week and I should be even. Lifting upper body and riding the recumbent. Like you said, take the little victories.
Jay I want to help educate people who’ve suffered this injury that don’t want or need surgery to heal. Of course active athletes probably need surgery but most clinicians overseas have standardized on non surgical , early weight bearing and range of motion using the Vacoped.
What’s the name of the Facebook group. Thanks for the vid. This injury is hardcore🙏
Hi Jay, I reached out via FB. I would love to be able to talk to you about the Vacoped. Also, what’s the FB group name you mention? I’ve literally searched all over the country trying to find a doctor or therapist who knows anything about the boot and your info is uplifting to me since I’ve been so down since my rupture
This is amazing. I’m having trouble with the heavy boot I have.
Thank you! The Vacoped definitely helps!
Man those boots are all super heavy and uncomfortable unfortunately...going through the same.
We are cool here in the U.K.
You guys are cool in the US too!
What’s the name of the boot
I’m onto week 3 & wont get the boot until 2nd week of November! Your boot looks dope lol
That boot was a lifesaver 😂 it’s expensive though! How’s your recovery going?
@@AchillesRuptureRecoveryJourney it’s going fine so far. No issue as of yet & today marks Day 21 since the surgery. I am looking forward the hospital boot lol
@@Loochee615 let’s get it! 💪🏾😤
This is hard for me I’m scared to even do the exercises at home 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Did you ever get cramp calf pain? I am week 4 in vacoped boot. so painful. Checked for DVT, but its muscular apparently but really affecting my weigh bearing.
Any downside to the boot ? Were your PT familiar with using them with the proper protocol ? I’m 3 days post opp and think I need to try the Vacoped. I’m. Ot finding anything else close
I’m in week 5 now but I’ve been in a cast all 5 weeks I have another week until I’m in the boot and I’m nervous as hell. I feel like it’s gonna be worse than the cast 😭😭
I'm on day 6 week 1..quite a while to go..
I'm In week five any body got sural nerve sensitivity
Could you not weight bare on it at all until week 5 ?
Thanks for sharing, i will be doing my surgery soon and just doing my research. I also ordered this boot after watching this video. Just one question , after removing cast, do you need to wear anything to sleep? Or do you have your foot free?
Thanks for sharing your experience, very helpful.
I would ask your surgeon about sleeping with the boot. Mine told me that I didn’t have to but I have heard others say that their surgeon told them differently. I would speak with them to be safe and let them know that you have heard differing opinions. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Will do. Thanks for your feed back. Im On day 1 of my healing process. 💪🏽🙏🏽
What is thr name of the boot?
It’s been 3 weeks already and I haven’t been back to the hp , they haven’t called me at all
Damn I’m in a hard cast for 8 weeks
So you took those steps before pt?
I am currently mid week 5 non op and I am taking those steps in the Vacoped boot
I’m in my 3rd week now 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Hello
Does the side of ur foot hurts when walking in shoes?
No, just the heel. Still lots of swelling.
@@AchillesRuptureRecoveryJourney I'm week 13 and heel is healing no swelling but painful to walk because the side of my foot hurts when I do. Dr said nothing to do with the surgery. I'm hoping because the foot is trying to get used to walking with weight after being in a boot for 2 months. Well thanks for getting back and take care.
@@louf8335 definitely man! Have you started physical therapy?
@@AchillesRuptureRecoveryJourney yea been going for 2 almost 2 months now. I hope pain goes away and hope it's not something else.
@@louf8335 for sure! Prayers up! 🙏🏾
is the vacoped boot just more comfortable?
It’s more comfortable and it gives you more range of motion earlier on.
@@AchillesRuptureRecoveryJourney im non op and tomorrow will be exactly 5 weeks since rupture. im not sure if i should invest in a vacoped boot. im in dallas
@@hammond5315 from my understanding, the vacoped boot is pretty much standard overseas for non-op patients. You should join the Achilles rupture FB group. It’s the one with 6k + members.
It’s a lot more supportive and slowly increase the range of movement. I re-ruptured my Achilles cycling after being out of the cheaper boot, following non op route. I had a repair then and was put into a Vacoped. 5 months later I’m walking freely, cycling, rowing and the Achilles feels so much stronger. Recommend this boot either way.
@@duncandavies1346 man I couldn’t even imagine a re-rupture! 😳
