    Thank you for your update I’ve been following you my wife had her surgery right around the same time you had yours. The only difference is she had a massive bone spur that was the root cause of her problem so the surgeon had to remove the Achilles tendon in order to get rid of the bone spur so anyways, no weight-bearing for four weeks. Then she went to the cast like you Aircast for a couple weeks and now she’s yesterday she’s walking. See your video is very instrumental. We really appreciate it. You look great and hopefully you feel better soon. Thank you for educating all of us.

    Thank you for sharing, good to see you have been fairly active and could walk (carefully) by week 5! I think im having a similar experience, I went NO-OP. I was full weight bearing from the cast day 1 and I even removed the half cast 1st night (carefully) to massage around the leg and just put the half cast back on. I kept that routine for the first two weeks. I micro wiggled my toes and calf clenched.. no crazy pain because I kept my pointed position consistent. ++During the two weeks I purchased an extra sized boot with the raised heel to put my leg in. It made the process heaps comfortable because I can at least place my foot down with support. I could full-weight load with the cast and boot much easier but kept using the knee scooter mostly to give a solid two weeks heal. ++ Week 3 I removed the cast and just straight sock and boot. I felt so good with no pain but can obviously feel the limit of the tendon. Can walk with boot but maybe still using assistance with scooter 50%. (Scooter is fun!) the heel does get tired and feet swell so during the day I make sure to rest it up and elavate my leg when I can it helps!. Mid week 3 I carefully switch between boot and with my shinpad-half-cast. And SLOWLY trying tiny muscle calf twitches and heel raise motions. Jumped on the excercise bike while I watched a movie. (Very gentle) because toes are already pointed made the bike possible. on that note: I reckon each rupture is different incase you are researching as well. Mine was 6cm above the heel and the rupture gap was 1.5cm. it was deemed higher than the usual and iwas given the option of NO-OP which is why I suspect why my experience is what it is. I suspect if your rupture is closer to your heel, it could be heaps harder to walk or the gap could be bigger. Get well sooooon!

      Hi, Brian, I am week 3 post-op, my situation is completely the same as yours -- 6cm above the heel and the rupture gap was 1.5cm. I went OP but the recovery timeline is the same as yours, I would like to know more about your recovery progress, I think that I really can follow it.

    I'm hoping to be making quick progress too. I'm currently at 2.5 weeks from surgery to reattach my Achilles tendon. I've got the boot. Not yet allowed to put much weight on it, but I can tap down gently in the boot. I'm doing the dorsiflexion stuff, but no stretching, and making sure to keep my circulation up. I've only missed one session at the gym, that's when I was in surgery, but otherwise, I've been told that other than the actual Achilles, or any weight on that heel, I'm allowed to continue working out, so I have been doing that, 3x a week at least, with single-leg stationary bike to do cardio, or a seated or kneeling AMRAP variation.

  • @vikingnorsefitness5727
    @vikingnorsefitness5727 Рік тому

    Yo I got a question ....
    I'm not sure if this is an achilles tendon injury, but when I bend my toes upwards towards my shin, I get excruciating sharp pain (knives and needles) in the outer edge and slightly under the heel (left foot). When I use two fingers to pinch my achilles tendon an inch or so above the heel, there's a spot on the outer edge of the achilles that gives me a ZING of pain that goes right down to that same spot on the heel, so clearly, the pain is connected from the outer edge of the Achilles Tendon to the outer edge of the heel on that left foot. Did you experience this type of pain?

    • @newtinslaw7623
      @newtinslaw7623  Рік тому

      I was not able to apply any pressure on my ruptured leg. You should have a couple of test done to you Thompson test and an MRI scan. Hopefully your case is just Achilles tendinitis. But I would advice getting it checked as soon as possible. Good luck.
