    Why shoot game birds?
    Game is wild, natural and free range, and it is one of the healthiest meats available today. It is low in cholesterol and high in protein. Results from research commissioned by the Game-to-Eat campaign (Leatherhead Food International Research 2006) suggest that there are real health benefits to eating game. Both pheasant and partridge contain high levels of iron, protein, vitamin B(6) and selenium, which helps to protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.
    In addition to the nutritional benefits of game, game shooting is worth £2 billion annually to the rural economy and supports 74,000 jobs. There are 480,000 (UK government figures) active game shooters in the UK who enjoy bird shooting under the principles of the Code of Good Shooting Practice.
    More than 2 million hectares are actively managed for shooting in the UK creating proven (PACEC, 2014) conservation benefits and preserving important habitats for a diverse range of flora and fauna, in particular farmland birds. UK shooting providers spend £5.4 million on cover crop seeds every year and maintain over 25,000ha of wild-bird cover.
    We’re proud to promote enjoyment of fieldsports and the countryside. There are three guiding principles to everything we do on Fieldsports Channel:
    ▶ Shoot responsibly
    ▶ Respect the quarry
    ▶ Ensure a humane, clean and quick kill

    What a terrific ambassador for the sport not to mention such a lovely modest young lady. No wonder Dad is so proud.

    I think Amys' feeling of not wishing to complicate matters by getting too hung up about chokes is right. My mentor told me to put fairly open chokes in my 20 bore and I never have to worry whether I have the right thing in for this bird or that. It just works. My head wouldn't cope with technical choke stuff I'm afraid.

    Good shooting on the pheasants. Nice hunting on the deer. I have used a Browning Lightning for bird hunting since before you were born. I like the 300 win mag for deer hunting. :)

    18 years old a World Champion OMG amazing Amy. keep it up. When I was 18 my father did not want to give me a gun to shot because it was against the law till I was 21. It was till then when I got my first A5 Browning.

    What are U.K. regulations with regards to "shooting" / deer hunting with tags and Hunter Orange clothing... In Canada (Ontario) we have restrictions on when shotgun (slugs) in the south and rifle season (north) are scheduled, but always must wear hunter orange vest, and hat...

    • @fieldsportstv
      @fieldsportstv  4 роки тому +2

      No need for orange here: gameshooting is highly disciplined. It has an annual accidental death rate of

    Why not shoot clays instead of killing birds for the fun of it . I would think a lot of people will disrespect you for it .
