As a Conservation Officer in the US, I love seeing videos like this where there is the joy of the hunt and the conservation aspect as well. To many people think that hunters are just out there to kill. They don't understand the balance and the sanctity that most people put into the sport. 99% of hunters are more about the preservation to maintain the resource for the benefit of future generations.
@killwill83 why comment and be a troll? If it’s not for you then don’t watch and comment! I grew up in New York and this is something unfamiliar to me and I truly enjoy this series and this channel! Maybe try watching something in your IQ like SpongeBob.
The first conversation was fascinating! Seeing a tailor and a gunmaker, two very different professions, finding similarities between their crafts and talking with great interest and respect was a joy to watch.
This has been outstanding Kirby. Seeing two crafts come together and discuss how they work in unison for their client. Watching you learn how to shoot side by side. To the gamekeeper with so much knowledge, care and admiration to his country, flora and fauna. My God, what an experience... ❤️🇦🇺
Kirby's next career move, film maker for National Geographic. An outstanding series all around. A side note: loved the details of Simon's suit in the close up shots. Also Kirby with the jacket on and the collar up, George with his shirtsleeves rolled up. Probably a nice balmy day for him.
Mr. George is a wonderful person. In few words explain the importance of his iob, the and passion for environment and animals. And, not list, the importance of the community.
Good solid comments, sir! And glad to see Paris has calmed down from that spate of ugly violence from a few years back. It broke most everyone's hearts to see that in a city that everyone loves do very much!
Fantastic as expected. Hats off in particular to the sound design throughout, terrific work. Such a pleasure to see this world presented in a clean, raw way.
Your perseverance is admirable Kirby, not just the stress of being inexperienced in shooting, but the stress of being with other much more experienced people who will be judgemental, and of course the youtube audience that certainly pull no punches! I hope the other guys on the shoot made you feel welcome and at ease.
I wish he’d just admit he’s inexperienced at shooting. Instead of trying to front that it’s the gun difference. His mechanics are the issue. Not the gun. But yeah, he didnt shy from putting it all on film which is more than a lot of UA-camrs would do.
@@flyingirish31 Possibly the difference between clays and rifle range - I've friends in the US who spend many hours shooting static and panning left to right targets and know firearms inside out - but shooting clays was a totally new experience to them.

Such beautiful guns, and to use them on a stunning estate like that is the icing on the cake. It's brilliant to see my chosen sport being promoted in such a manner and the gentlemanly and indeed ladylike manner in which those of us who shoot conduct ourselves and appreciated by Mr Allison.
(a brit) I started watching kirby as banter to be honest and did laugh at some videos but this was beautiful as half scot we occasionally get to go up and visit family but they're aren't many places more beautiful than Scotland, and to be honest if kirby did an hour long on game keeping and land it would be up there with some of the best nature documentaries, amazing cinematography and the knowledge shared I've got to say apart from cigar vids this has to be my favourite and lets be honest as someone from my neck of the woods would say that is a 'dirty' view, the Loch the land simply stunning
Love it kirby, having spent the years between 18 and 25 living and working on a shooting estate in southwest Scotland I spent many hours shooting clays with clients to while the hours between stalks or drives away let me tell you missing them is par for the course for someone who's inexperienced for one and not used to a side by side for two! This series brings back some very happy memories and now being a collector of fine cigars your chanel as a whole is a pleasure. Hoyo de monterrey epicure especial being my cigar of choice.
Kirby, switching from over/under to side by side takes time; once you get the hang of it, however, you will love side by side guns, as you see the target in a different but better site picture. That brace of Purdy are gorgeous as they are pure examples of the art of barrel making, positioning, etc.
Dear Kirby, absolutely love your channel. Very nice videos and you are a true gentleman. One small remark. Its brakes my heart the way you closed the gun. With so much force! It has a thumb switch so you can guide the closing into a very smooth procedure. Please! You were carrying a beautiful piece of precision and craftsmanship. Threat it very gentle. Kind regards. Daniel
I’m so glad that editing didn’t make you a dead shot. I’ve not shot clays for 30 years and it’s not easy. How come nobody told you how to say Edinburgh? It’s close but no cigar
Kirby - catching up on these series and I gotta say, the stuff you've been putting out this past year with these travel series has been top-notch. Really well shot and composed. I like how you let the video breathe. You're taking your time to savor the moment. No rapid-fire cutting. Very well done. Your crew is excellent. I hope you're putting them up in nice accommodations while traveling!
This series has really been something special, I am inspired to start up a historical based channel and see where it can go. Thanks again Kirby, for letting us come along as you share things that you are passionate about.
@@flyingirish31 Yes,probably, and I am not surprised. As I'm sure you know, the cost of that pair would be astronomical! I was also impressed with George Elliot, the gamekeeper. A solid chap I'd say. Looking forward to watching the shoot. Very best wishes. Philip.
This has to be one of the best UA-cam series ever made. Well done for putting the missed clay pigeon shots in too, would have been easy to edit that out, but made the episode so much more authentic.
Very well done all around, Kirby. Your hunting attire was amazing and of course those shotguns are masterpieces. Those tweeds are something special. Production value was off the charts. I hope you conclude the hunt with cognac and stogies fireside. Be safe and good hunting!!
Sipping cognac is Scotland? Not likely! Is it? Not any more than folks there drinking an Amercan bourbon or a Tennessee whiskey! It would be a Scotch whisky or nothing! Maybe Aberfeldy or a Glenfarclas! There are very good whiskies there that are just never exported due to small bottlings but that are quite excellent nonetheless! (The same is true with Champagne! Many champagnes are never exported because they don't produce 500,000 bottles a year, minimum. Many times a small estate vintner has a real advantage, over the behemoths, with their products. Absolutely! Do not over look or dismiss smaller operations! Or do but at your own disadvantage!)
I stay not far from Craigsanquhar estate in north Fife and have been there a few times over the years. Wonderful place to visit. Fantastic production, well done.
I like how much they went into the fit of the shotguns and how much it matters. I have measured several dimensions in the stock of shotguns I own and have started to build a good data point of what is best for me.
Absolutely beautiful episode Kirby! As a born highlander scotsman, I'm so proud to see someone like yourself from our friends across the pond coming to see our traditional ways! Congratulations and thank you!
Just a couple of points: Never wear new boots to a shoot, especially deer-stalking. Game keepers love to take clients in new boots for a good, long walk to break in their new boots😂 When closing a shotgun: grip the barrels with your left hand and run your right hand along the underside of the stock to close it. Practice mounting the gun i.e. bringing the stock from your waist to your shoulder in one movement.
On the next series, Kirby Should make a collaboration with Hugo Jacomet from Sartorial Talk. Now that guy got some crazy more modern taste on suits. It should be fun to watch.
Mr. Allison, I would like to say I admire your videos and the outright professionalism they convey. Though I must say what I truly enjoy and respect about you and your content is how it displays, in this day and age, an old fashioned and rare caliber of respectful and distinguished person. I am not a part or involved in this space of bespoke items and the like that you inhabit but it inspires me to be a more respectful, respectable and refined man. I thank you for setting an example that I feel helps me along my journey through life.
I would suspect the problem you were having, Kirby, is that the Purdy SXS has a prince of wales straight stock. That is very common for that type of shotgun, especially with double triggers. If you are used to an over under, your cheek rest will be different. The height over bore needs to be very low for the SXS. So, it’s just basic geometry; if your head is up too high over the bore, your eyesight angle will intersect the shotgun bore at the front sight, causing you miss pretty much every time.
Yet again Kirby an outstanding production. So pleased that you are now taking part in the outdoor persuits for which your clothing has been made. Now for the elocution lessons to get you the voice for when you are here. Joking with you of course! I have thouroughly enjoyed this series so far, well done and thankyou.
Such a pleasure to see excellent craftsmanship still being appreciated. I've wanted a classic English side by side for a good while now. This is a wonderfully aesthetic video.
