This aged well
I would really like that deep dive into Nintendo's financial situation during the late Wii era. The decline in Wii sales would be interesting to examine
they made money, not as much as at the beginning.
please forecast dont make this video. i dont think i could think of anything more boring
if its boring to you that's a great
opportunity to watch something else for 20 minutes. I think that's a decent topic to prepare and keep around for times with fewer interesting things being available.
Can I just say, I really appreciate the fact that you have subtitles/captions added?
It's always appreciated when there're actual ones and not just auto-generated ones that have better utility in comedy than helping people understand what was said.
This video aged like fine wine.
They did it!
At the very least, I hope there’s a substantial nod towards the existence of a successor console, and a ‘stay tuned.’ Assuming that’s all we get- still really curious to see what they have in the 2024 pipeline in the meantime.
Theory: Nintendo World Championship game was just leaked by the ESRB.
I suggest that the game will have a score attack mode used to qualify for an IRL NWC 2024 event in June, following a similar format to 2015 and 2017. Nintendo will announce Switch 2 there, with contestants playing several new games in the final rounds.
That's an amazing call! Would be incredible if they do that.
If they did this it would be perfect and a bomb. I thought about that too.
I just want them to say SOMETHING haha. There doesn't need to be an unveiling, but something that says that the Switch 2 exists. All the rumors, Nvidia leaks, and reports from places like Gamescom last year all point to a pretty clear picture of Nintendo's next console, but they've yet to "officially" even suggest that the hardware exists! give us literally anything Nintendo haha!
Yup. This is where I am too. 😅
spoilers
We are always developeing new hardware and will be always looking forward and are always looking into ways to transfer over customers from the previous hardware to future hardware.
id bet money that this is the jist of the response with less info or the same.
I think the odds are definitely in the favour of something, regardless of how big it is, being at the investors meeting. I think it’s the perfect time to announce its existence at least, since investors are facing a dry year for Nintendo content and will demand reassurance, and giving the next system some kind of announcement or reference will do that, while keeping things lowkey enough that it won’t scare off a great deal of general audiences that still haven’t bought a Switch.
I'd be VERY interested in an anlysis in the Wii-U 3ds era deep dive that you mentioned! I really like all. your videos, and find them all very informative and well researched.
I think they're giving the OG Switch a victory lap this year. One more year on the spotlight to sell some more units of their best selling home console ever. I originally thought that last year would be this, but they took me by surprise with tins of games and the Switch being taken very seriously by them.
I guess this would be a good time for a price cut, but they won't do this, of course.
A couple of places coming out acting like it's unlikely they will say anything May 7th but idk.. it's like kinda pushing it imo. They do need to advertise more than just the console itself. The games too. So idk I'm feeling it coming soon. Continued secrecy at May 7th briefing would be unnecessary.
Right and investors also have nothing. This will be Nintendos first public move in a new direction.
I really want to know who’s running this channel. It feels like they have too much knowledge and experience to be just a causal Nintendo fan. Maybe a game journalist or a professional analyst?
I mean they're probably just a fan with a degree in business or economics or something similar. Nothing really suggests they know more than anyone else
I think we are so used to seeing youtubers who are just "big fans" or casual gamers that are reiterating what they see other people post, that when we see people with actual experience it's kind of jarring.
@rtnman i agree with this. There is no insider kwledge, its just that the nintento yt space is full of garbage that consists of just reading tweets or 4chan posts and stretching it 10 mins.
The main difference is this channel can read business jargon without his eyes glossing over. He’s not an insider. I don’t even think he’s that experienced. He sounds young and wants to be seen as professional
@@RiqMoranthis is right. Not only is he good, but compared to most Nintendo UA-camrs he is basically Warren Buffett
You are straight up the best rumour/speculation Nintendo account. It’s great that you have captions too.
Lying directly face to face to their investors is different than lying to the public. If the plan is what we think it is, they'll pretty much have to say something along the lines of:
"The next Nintendo dedicated gaming hardware, codenamed XXX, will be released in March of 2025. We will have more details to come later in the year. Please look forward to it."
That statement's roughly what I'm expecting next week. No visual, no real system name, but a confirmation that it exists and will be released in Q1 2025.
We'll see if I'm right. Feel free to roast this comment next week if it's wrong.
Your statement is the only one that actually made sense, even when compared to a slew of Nintendo YT channels that start with "New Switch "2" Leaks!" over a span of 6 years.
Missed the March reveal date but otherwise this is dead on.
@@WhatIsMatter101 I think I called this one. Thanks.
Honestly, if Nintendo plays their cards right, they can easily ride out the Switch for at least one more full year. And not only that, it can potentially outsell the DS. And if that happens, it’s basically smooth sailing to the top.
It's what I thought: give their beat selling home console one final victory lap (to maybe surpass the DS) while working on a killer line up of games for next year (similar to what happened in 2016, but with the Switch actually selling, instead of what happened to the Wii U)
Given the recent yen weakening to try and stabilize it around 150 i think we are closer to an announcement this week than before without it.
Nintendo probably wont release the Switch "successor" (not calling it Switch 2, sounds like something only Sony can come up with) until they dethrone the PS2. And theyre closing in.
Itll be hard to replicate sales reaching over 150 mill, even by Sony. They only reached those figures thanks to the mass produced DVD media it offered at the time and over a 12 year lifespan. In comparison, Nintendo Switch is only at its 7th year, so theres no need to rush.
Yep, they did!
I feel a “New console within (Release Window), (projection units)” is very possible but not much more. A first acknowledgement that this thing even exists
To talk about past eras of Nintendo, such as Wii and DS would definitely be super interesting! It wouldn't be much of a forecast, but understanding past history is for sure important for future forecasts. (Maybe this can be a series in the channel)
Surprised to find a video with actual substance on this topic
Congrats, you nailed it.
There is a VERY good chance they announce the Switch has outsold the PS2, if thats the case then its a very good time to confirm the next console with the media coverage they'll already have
Just a note, when moving from Wii U to switch, Nintendo allowed you to transfer your miis via amiibo. Pretty interesting transfer method
This is actually a really interesting video! I really find the financial analysis fascinating.
I'm really curious to see what that new IP mentioned will be.
that NES championships game could def utilize amiibo across multiple series
Yes. Next question
I doubt the switch 2 trailer will come by June if there’s a June direct coming up.
If it doesn't get announced, maybe they could announce the date for the announce trailer.
great channel but i turn annotations off. you need to mention "the card" link will also be in the description.
It's honestly not such an out-there idea that a new IP could be unveiled during an investors meeting. That's fairly similar to how Codename STEAM was initially announced.
What is an IP?
@@creativeapparatus1111 Intellectual Property. As in "Mario" "Zelda" "Fire Emblem" etc
Ah, I'm glad you said that. I felt like there was an example of this but I couldn't place it.
Wasn't that not announced at E3 just not in their presentation but later in a roundtable or treehouse or something like this.
edit: I googled it and it was announced at E3 and NOT in an investors meeting.
5:26 maybe, but Nintendo will mention it next console, in a way that dont negatively impact Switch sales
Will they announce Switch 2 RIGHT NOW?
Nintendo didn't reveal console in investment meeting at all in their history
You're the only gaming news channel I can stand. You actually know business, so instead of spouting assumptions and misinformation that fans will parrot, you actually give the facts with data behind them.
14:47 I would like to hear from you on this topic in the future
My prediction:
January 2025: Switch Successor is announced
1~2 weeks later: Nintendo Direct focusing on games coming to new platform
April 1st: Switch Successor launches
In this way the next platform doesn't interfere with the Switch's last holiday season. Additionally, they launch the next platform alongside the start of Japan's fiscal year beginning April 1st, giving the new device the maximum opportunity to show off its sales numbers.
Although this would be ideal for them, I suspect they'd have to announce sooner to avoid the it leaking once it's being manufactured.
I really love your channel! I've always wished for a channel to look into Nintendo's buisness decisions, and ye fulfill that! Thank you!
I really ccan't wait to see your comment on the manufacturing rumor.
I'm pretty confident it'll be September
I hope so or at least a codename would help.
idk maybe
Yes, Just read the news
the best nintendo channel on youtube
I really hope so. Seems like theyre no doing anything exciting right now.
Nintendo had a Mario vs DK amiibo game on 3ds and Wii U. The less said the better.
It's finally happened
The next switch gimmick will be vr
god the 3ds and wii u launches were disasters after the wii and ds dominance
Nintendo is a confident and creative company, but I hope they are wary of the ESG stuff. Square Enix embraced it by making an Ethics Department office, yet all that has done was translating their own games horribly, more censorship, and them outright making horrible titles. All these so that they can fill the ESG requirements.
The end result? A monumental 22.1 Billion Yen loss.
Is there any correlation other than you making one up?
@@NuiYabuko Funny you say making stuff up. I got this from Square Enix's official statement, which Nichegamer covered.
@@TheDeisasori No, I mean between the Ethics Department and their loss in revenue.
@@NuiYabuko People want the true essence of a game, and this requirements get in the way. People have been fed up with this problem, to the point they are happy a group of men making a list of ESG backed games.
My personal experience would be with Triangle Strategy and Eiyuden Chronicles. I got fed up with the former for making a noble lady needlessly pompous, when in the JP script she is a reasonable woman (among other things). I got fed up with TS because quite a lot of bad translations completely change the situation of many scenes.
I must also say I despise the Western release of Fire Emblem Revelations because quite a lot of support conversations have been bastardised. I "fondly" remember two bodyguards understanding each others' position in the original script, but in the English version they just stare at each other.
@@TheDeisasori And you think that's the Ethics Department's fault?
LOL
Way to have your brain washed by far right grifters. You didn't even answer my question and just resorted to spouting drivel you've picked up online.
there's a report that the switch 2 hardware may have been finished for years now and that they are just sitting on it - is that realistic? thx
Not that simple. Maybe some fundamental concepts and certain elements of it have been sitting around a long time but there’s no way there isn’t constant tinkering with every aspect of it until it begins to be manufactured.
At this point, these switch 2 rumors are real.
as long as the switch 1 doesn't outsell the ps2, keep the switch 2 a secret!!!
One of the main topics is ESG?
I hope it's a reassurance that they will stay away from that stuff.
Life isn't fair. Blackrock owns shares :(
They've likely been implementing that for years. Like, where have you been? lol
But at least there's a new buzzword to scare the -Gamers- masses.
@@NuiYabuko For years? Not very likely. It’s a publicly traded company and we usually know. It’s also not just a buzzword. Maybe educate yourself.
Hasn't ESG been failing financially? Or is that just culture war propaganda?
@@raskolnikov6443 Maybe educate yourself first.
I guess adding a link didn't work, so just google 任天堂 エシカル then choose the English version of that site and boom.
"Will they announce Switch 2 soon"?
Not too soon enough. 🤣🤣
I don't think they'll announce anything this May 7th. As much as I wish there were new games that interested me (like a fire emblem 4 remake or metroid prime 4), objectively nintendo could easily get away with another year or two of nothing but remakes and much smaller games. The switch has too much momentum and goodwill generated over the years to kill it easily.
Not to mention their evergreen titles like mario kart and animal crossing.
There's also the fact that competitor consoles have been underwhelming. Almost no exclusives, very little variety of AAA games generally as most of them are open world, remakes or live services. so if you wanted a new banjo kazooie, or a brand new 3d platformer for example, you're SOL. A lot of AAA games on consoles are ending up at 30fps anyways, making the gap between switch and next gen far less impressive.
I can see nintendo repeating this year's lineup so far for another year or two before they budge and give us a successor console.
ESG is the equivalent of dripping a single drop of water into a volcano spewing with lava and then going around and preaching about how virtuous you are for your environmental actions.
Great. And?
Don’t choose that shade of green for your thumbnail, it’s uh, taken.
ESG 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
There're likely plenty of other places you can have your little crusade on.
@@NuiYabuko You bootlickers are the worst.
@@NuiYabuko bootlickers like yourself are the worst.
@@NuiYabuko have fun shilling for huge financial institutions who make gaming and art worse.
@@raskolnikov6443 I've read that the owner of a well-known US news channel has a higher ESG rating than most game publishers, but keep vomiting your buzzwords.
12:10 cant Nintendo ask manyfactures to sign a NDA, in order to nothing of it next console be leaked
they can do that with the managers, but at least some of the many hundreds of workers actually producing that stuff will eventually spread some information. making all of them sign ndas and making sure they wont be broken is practically impossible

Nintendo should go back to making normal home consoles and normal handhelds without any gimmicks.
Gimmicks were their MO since the NES.
Will they announce Switch 2 RIGHT NOW?
