I just got in 3 of there sets and i have to say i am sold!
I was a bit worried when i tried there "base" line, it was so thin and flowey so different then other base coating paints.
they are usually very thick and a bit of a pain to work with.
but cuttlefish was a breeze! it just flowed into all the little crevices and gave amazing coverage with just one coat.
need to play around with the sketch and glaze paints they have but im excited!

I’m thrilled to see Cuttlefish gaining traction on some of my go-to UA-cam channels! Ninjon mentioned them in passing a couple months ago and to see you featuring them is awesome.

Never heard of cuttlefish, appreciate the video. One question though.
It wasn’t clear how cuttlefish compares to typical miniature paint (not speed paint) thinned to a layer or glaze consistency.
Is there advantages to cuttlefish to a brand like Kirmea which are also great for glazes?
Seeing if I can justify buying more paint 😛. Thank you again for the videos. Always a great watch.

Despite the marketing I've found speed paints work best on a less is more model. When applied with a light hand and spread over an area they work very well to give you that tinting effect. As for getting the contrast effect: you just need to adjust how you dry brush and what colors you use. If you go heavy on dry brushing a white on top of a black than you wont get much contrast since only the deepest parts will be dark. While if you go too light on the dry brushing you will have too much of the model remaining as black and thus the speed paint wont be able to color it.
Despite being a newbie friendly style there is a lot of technique that can go into it. Especially once you start underwashing and prehighlighting or even using non-white colors when dry brushing.

I think just the idea of combining a speed/contrast (I call them high flow) paints, with a more opaque glaze is really the way to go, and like how you walk through it. Cuttlefish aside, I also think you're doing a good job of keeping the point of finishing fast in mind. I've used regular paint glazes over contrast, liking the result, but yes, it takes me mixing the right consistencies and multiple application...and I've only done it on unique models. Someone working on a unit or army will want a standard formula. Good video!
