A domineering but charismatic rancher wages a war of intimidation on his brother's new wife and her teen son - until long-hidden secrets come to light.
This film is filled to the brim with nuances, symbolism, attention to detail, great acting, etc. etc. I'm new to Campion's work but I'm already a big fan and can't wait to see more of her achievements. What a film!
Must watch "The Piano".
@@fiuttello bro, that movie was a masterpiece. One of the best movies of all time in my opinion. It's crazy that Anna Paquin won an Oscar at her age 11 years old thanks to that movie, but she rightfully deserved it imo. She's phenomenal in that movie
In the Cut is also fabulous by Jane Campion. It’s on Netflix now. There were bad reviews but I LOVED it. I love her work.
This movie is simply stunning in every way. There's a sensitivity and a roughness to it that's rare to find.
This movie was so twisted and creepy. I LOVED it. Then I watched Benedict in the Electrified Life of Louis Wain (sorry if I spelled wrong) and convinced he is hands down one of the best actors in Hollywood.
If Kirsten doesn't get an oscar for this I'm suing
She and her partner Jesse Plemons got nominations.
I can almost feel each character’s emotion while watching this plus the dark and lonely scenery they used as the backdrop.
When i watched it i felt so lonely, empty and angry at the end. 💔
Turning this story into a movie is just brilliant
My favourite film of 2021 a masterpiece
THIS FILM BETTER BE NOMINATED FOR AN OSCAR....
I LOVE HOW KARMA HAS EVERYONE'S ADDRESS IN THIS FILM.
WHETHER IT BE GOOD KARMA OR BAD KARMA.
REMEMBER, GOOD KARMA EXISTS AND THIS IS HOW THIS FILM SHOWS US THAT IT DOES EXIST.
JAN 8 2022
Loved this movie, it is ...just art, touched my soul, my heart and my mind.
A masterpiece
The best films in 10 years now.
I was completely engaged in this fabulous film
That’s 2 hours of my life I’ll never get back.
Wow an honest opinion
campaign is in full force after the globes. Trying to harness this momentum. Awesome
A masterpiece …
2022 Best Director and Actor are here
I love this film.
Jane ,Benny C , Kirsten , Kody and Ari need to be nominated and i think Jane needs to win. Absolutley incredible work
This is so lovely 💕
I love it and I love Benedict
What a masterpiece
Потрясающий фильм.
Great movie!!!!
rooting for best picture for academy
Subtly astonishing film…
0:31 Better than I'm Thinking Of Ending Things Jesse?
wowza this was 2 hours too short
🙏❤️🙌
Jonny fn Greenwood baby!!
this movie is really "hard" for my cheap brain.. trully amaze
0:33 what device was he using for reading the script and writing notes on it..?
Looks like a white iPad in a black case with an Apple Pencil to me. I'm sure someone more knowledgable that me would know about the generation of the iPad if you were interested in that?
What was it about?
I’m curious to know why it was filmed in Australia and not Montana 😒Montana is so no beautiful, was it because of the weather 🤔
What happened in the end? Was bencu's character murdered somehow? I am confused.
Yes, Peter killed him by giving him rawhide that he cut from a cow that had died from anthrax
@@professor_mystery if only he took care of that cut on his hand..
i think the villain here is rose
May haunt you for the rest of your days.
I watched. Didn't get... Confusion at it's finest.. 😯😮
I would never make this comment. I would try and educate myself. Why are people proud of their ignorance You think we should give you some kind of award. Read extensively on comments people make about the film and go back and watch it agian. Don't embarrass yourself anymore.
It’s fine, I didn’t get it as well in the outset. So I thought about it for a bit then boom 🤯 Once I got it after a couple of hours (lol) I was amazed. Can’t blame people for calling it a masterpiece.
How is Jane legendary? She only does short films
Jane Campion loves her white stories. Just look at her filmography. She just can't stop thinking about white stories.
Unfortuantely, I was not impressed by this film. There was just a bit of a story. It moved too slow. Not enough substance. When I finished watching I said to myself, "Why did they make this movie?" I still cannot answer that question. Simply not a good movie at all.
Predictable Hollywood current 'culture' - why NO ONE watches the Oscars anymore -

I would not call it a masterpeice. The approche is not that inovative, using the camera and non-verbal cue to tell the story. Talking about the script, well there is not that much in it since most of it is non-verbal. Acting was good. Seen movies in 2021 that were much better at telling stories. Found the intention of the boy to use the latent homosexuality as a weapon was a bit disturbing to me, only realizing at the end that he was actually a killer. No I did not read the book or any materials before, went into it without any expectations. Glad I did, but not that happy I seen it.
The minimal use of speaking is what makes it amazing. Also, spilling the beans about the ending in a comment is lame.
Thanks. I didn't get. But 😊 thanks
Benedict Cumberbatch gave the performance of a lifetime in his portrayal of a cynical Montana Rancher back in 1925
Ben needs to get an Oscar for this so does Campion
I find Jane Campion's artistic work mesmerizing. She brought together some seriously talented people on this project, on-camera and off. It's a very special collaboration, for sure. Rarely do I want to see a movie twice, mostly to probe deeper, and this is one of those movies. I hope it wins a ton of awards.
This movie grabbed me and has haunted my thoughts since I saw it. It takes you on a journey that feels sinister but you have no idea where exactly it’s going. The pacing, nuance and acting is masterful. Visually stunning as well. I’m just in awe of the artistic visions of filmmakers.
Great cinematography and great performance from Kodi Smit-McPhee.
The Piano is much better, but this one still deserves to be seen.
Omg. This sort of movie is so boring I will sleep throughout the screening. Action the director says again and again but not real actions…
This movie is my favourite, ive seen it four times now and its just the best in every way.
Great movies are when you don't care which actors are playing the parts, or where you are watching it, because you are totally immersed in the film to the extent that it isn't a film, but it just IS! This is one of those incredibly rare movies.
Love Jane's films from the beginning.
Why didn't you just call this Miss artsy-fartsy makes a boring bit of nonsense for her friends in Hollywood that will guarantee an Oscar for making viewers feel confused and uncomfortable.
All was good until he abused the horse. I'm done watching the rest. Seriously 🤦😖

I love seeing all the laughter clips here 🧡🧡
Congratulations to all who can suspend disbelief sufficiently to imagine Benedict Cumberband is a cowboy and not in fact the famed cartoon mentalist Dr Stange in Western cosplay. I couldn't. Not a big enough screen, maybe. But I just couldn't.
He was phenomenal in role. Also, he’s an amazing actor with so many great roles under his belt. He’s a chameleon and can become anyone.
The details of this film is beautiful 💓
movie is a masterpiece..
A brilliant lady.
Benedick Crinklebottom's character really stresses me out. I'm finding it difficult to finish the movie. Tried watching twice. Failed both times. Will go for a third attempt soon.
that speaks to the brilliance of the director and the actor. it is supposed to stress you out. it's not a comfortable movie
His acting was phenomenal. He’s such a sweetheart in real life. Phil is practically nothing like Benedict. He changed even his mannerisms and walk. Phenomenal acting.
Am UA-camr
I can’t stop thinking about it. I absolutely love this film and the catch is… I have no idea why. It’s as if the emotion was decided for me and placed within me. I love it!!!
Benedict is the best love u ❤️❤️❤️
