Warren hi! David hi! I do watch your videos, especially those where touring to studios and even more talking to world's top engineers/mixers/masterers. I had a pleasure watching one of David's videos, a go-thru of one of PA plugins when it came out. Oh well, what I saw then was something that is still stuck with me whenever David "reviews" something. Not a level of expertise really! I'm guessing a learnt by hard material more than anything. David is probably super nice guy and all but just not the level I thought he would be or or should have been! But, if I look at it from the other angle, he's way better than 99,99% of soooo many reviewers online so - more power to both of you guys!

Yeah, actually they're the very best 2 channels on YT for those still learning to mix. You hear a lot of stuff on YT and the basics you'll eventually learn from whatever source, but those two combined have given solutions to problems I had for years and got me out of many impasses down the road in my mixes. Still use their tricks every day.

Hi Warren, I have to agree; based on your glowing recommendation, I bought MJUC (still very cheap) and I'm using them everywhere; the Auto-Gain-Control and the tool tips are just inspired. Also, love this interview. Don't know Mixbus TV, but on last night's PLAP live stream I won one of your giveaway courses, with David in this instance. After watching this, I'm so looking forward to it. I have been guilty of shutting off, to Rap / Hip Hop as genres, but I shall open my mind now after hearing what you said.
My first exposure was the sugar hill gang's "Rappers Delight" which I thought was great at the time 79/80 ?
But since then, it's like an auto shut off to to the whole genre.
I find it weird personally, because I have always had a wide and open ear for music in general, everything from Classical to Punk.
I guess I just got stuck in a rut, and you've just given me a Kick up the behind, thanks ;0)

Just setting levels and organizing 100+ tracks takes the better part of a day when there’s not much direction from the producer (who is often a band member). But it is what it is. I agree that in many cases I end up not using 20-25% of the tracks, sometimes more.

Not only the world is a small place, UA-cam obviously also :). I like David's channel (not the mental coaching :D, but there's nothing wrong with that). That was a real and most welcome surprise, to see him on PLAP.
Thanks to both of you, and of course the PLAP-team.

@@mixbustv Hi David, I like to add, that I really liked many things, you said in that interview, especially "too much saturation, means no saturation", "too much brightness, means no brightness" and that you mentioned this 100+ channel insanity. For a Hollywood Blockbuster, a full orchestra, ok, but for a regular song? If that would be really nessecary, we and all the 60s, 70s, 80s and most 90s bands would have never released anything decent.
Speaking of saturation as a side-function. The Waves Pultec plugins do that on purpose. You can turn the eq off and still have the saturation going on.

@@christiangillmann9466 Hey Christian, thanks. I also use it quite alot. Although, I never boosted 30Hz. Do you boost such low frequencies to feel the low end? My monitors are too weak, when it comes to 40hz and below and for the kind of music I make, it's not really important. :)

@@peterbrandt7911 Hi Peter i juse it subtle on the bass, kick and masterbus (after a lowcut). The boost provides an "overall" warm thumb, not only on the low-low end.
