I'm with you! I'll take a great storyline and GREAT actors any day even in the midst of all the tragedy we've endured over the last few years. These kinds of stories about the human condition are what we need to wake us up to being human again!!! My mother taught me to appreciate classic movies, a great gift from her, God rest her soul.

I cried at the ending, what a beautiful movie! And the best part is that Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier were in love in real life and got married.

Exactly, the reason I watched this film. I was curious to know how they would act being in love in real life.

Nice little melodrama. Filmed in 1937 and only released in 1940 to in order to capitalize on Vivien Leigh's meteoric rise in GWTW in 1939.
    Thanks for the upload.

I was on the Carnival Mardi Gras, a cruise ship with the first ever rollercoaster at sea and this movie happened to be on in our stateroom. We watched the ENTIRE thing! It was sooo good and a highlight of our vacation. A testament to just how amazing this movie is.

I love how she fought physically to help her man. A lot of the women just stand in the corner screaming while the boogie man kills the husband. Plus, it was self-defense; therefore, I would’ve helped him also.❤🌹👍🏽

"People cry at weddings, not at funerals". I wonder if that was a line of Graham Greene, who has the writing credit with Basil Dean.
Enjoyed the film: thanks. Olivier is rather camp, though, batting his eyelids all the way through.

I don’t care if he was the be-all and end-all of British theater-Vivien was always a better film actor than he was.

Good movie, great actors. Am I the only one that wonders why the Lawyer, who is supposed to be the smart brother, went sneaking around to see his brother and then Wanda wearing a Top Hat & Tux? He stood out like a sore thumb in that part of London, and a cop spoke to him, but he got away with it anyway. Really, he had no reason to be sneaky.

YT premium 13.99/m. Zero commercials and way more than enough things to find interest in.
