I think Barry is absolutely right. I voted 'leave', because of the intolerable pressure that will be brought to bear on housing, public services, and the built environment, by having an extra 8m people in the UK by 2035 - as will be the case according to this ONS population projection:-

In short, I voted 'leave', because I see Brexit as the only way to prevent immigration on this scale. This does not have anything to do with any discrimination on my part against other ethnicities. For one thing, a significant minority of the UK resident population protected by Brexit is of Afro-Caribbean, African, Asian, Oriental, or etc origin. Moreover, Brexit seems pretty much designed to impact on immigration from overwhelmingly white countries.
While I'm on the case, I would quite like to slay one or two canards:-
(1) A vote for Brexit isn't a vote against immigration.
I voted Brexit, and I'm not against immigration. Immigration has contributed to the UK's culture, and likewise to its exchequer. We need immigrants, and I want immigration to continue. It would be great if 50,000 people migrated to the UK every year. What will not be great is if current levels of immigration - almost enough per year to populate Bristol - continue for the next 20 years.
(2) If nasty people vote for x, that doesn't mean that x is wrong. Alternatively, the existence of a bad argument for x does not imply the non-existence of a good argument for x.
I've heard a lot of remainers complaining that racists voted for Brexit. They may have two reasons for repeating this obvious truth.
(a) They are moving implicitly from 'all racists are Brexiters' to 'all Brexiters are racists'. This is pathetic, and I don't have much time for people who abuse logic this way.
(b) They're arguing that 'if racists advocate x, then x is wrong', which boils down to 'the existence of a bad argument for Brexit implies the non-existence of a good argument for Brexit'. This is somewhat less disgraceful than (a), because it doesn't impugn the character of 'leave'-voters. Nevertheless, it's still obviously fallacious.

I've been following England abroad for the last six years and everywhere we go, we are welcomed and our fans are behaving. These tournaments attract a huge number of morons that I'd never have as my next door neighbor.
