Picking a derby to do a report about football violence is like going to Las Vegas to do a report about gambling addiction

I’ve never really had a problem with two groups meeting up and having a ruck. It’s almost just human nature for some to do it. When they start attacking innocent people and public areas though it’s just cowardly bullying. No coincidence loads of them are bowling about in Stone Island jackets thinking they’re top boys, when they’ve probably never thrown a punch in their life. Embarrassing.

Gang related crime in London goes on everyday , killings stabbing robberies , how about making a documentary about that .

Let's not pretend that coppers didn't used to love a good dust up with football supporters. I know for a FACT that they used to book overtime on Saturdays just for fighting with football 'hooligans'. I'm guessing there's some that secretly hope it gets worse so they can pick up where we left off 20 years ago.

Why? 2 years away from stadiums/pubs has reignited passion and increased alcohol fueled scraps. Excitement is back in football

4 years ago, Mark Blyth forecast that football hooliganism would rise due to economic and political turmoil. Looks like he was right.

Unemployment is on the rise, low wages, low prospects. Football violence usually seems to follow ...

Get an empty warehouse, open the shutters up at both ends and let the mongs at it. Shut the doors and forget about them.

First of all wouldn’t it be beneficial to define what police and media class violence as now compared to the past before saying the figures show increases.

It's nothing compared to the 80s. Some games I honestly didn't know if I would make it home. Saw people beaten to a pulp, stabbed, hit in the face with bottles. Used to go home with pounds worth of coins, there were so many thrown. :-) Today is nothing.

Go football, have a drink, have a line, sounds like a great day. Police seem to be moaning that they have to do their job. If this happens once a year ffs not that bad is it.

This is what happens when you lock people in a house for 18 months. Considering that the people that made them rules aren’t following their own rules

The country is on its knees, it’s a form of social deprivation, we have been told what we can and can’t do for several years. these are people want to express their frustration with the system and the flawed society we currently live in, one rule for one… it’s no coincidence football violence has been rising over the last 2 years.

A big reason for the rise in hooliganism is because of the pent up feelings after lockdown and when hooligans get a foothold it feeds into itself. Also video blogs fuel violence too.

It's a strawman question. What makes anyone think it's increasing? The media have been telling us for years that hooliganism is back. I've been going to football for 45 years and in fact more this season than for a long time and I've seen no evidence of it. The world has changed so much since the hey-day of the firms 40 years ago that history will not be repeated.

I’ve not seen a punch thrown in this documentary. I understand the mainstream media these days would prefer to see rainbow 🌈 marches where blokes go to watch football hand in hand etc. correct me if I’m wrong.
