  • Test flying the SH37 with an aluminum 'tru venturi' utilizing the main jet NVA assembly from the supplied throttle carburetor. This venturi option minimizes the control line conversion cost as only the venturi needs to be purchased.
    Summarizing:
The venturi was cut from aluminum rod and bored with a #20 drill (.161" dia.). A single hole was drilled at the narrowest part of the venturi throat and tapped 4mm x 0.5mm to accommodate the main jet NVA from the supplied carburetor.
The engine is stock except for a 0.2mm head shim added due to the use of high oil fuel. Also a 'hot' plug (Thunderbolt R/C works) was used to improve ignition when run rich as we do in CL stunt. Fuel was 10% nitro, 22% oil (castor/synthetic blend). Flying prop was a 10.5x4.5 APC. I find this to be a good starting point prop for modern engines of this displacement. RPM was initially set at 11K with small adjustments following to attain the desired run. The fuel tank center line was raised to align with the NVA intake. This provided equal upright and inverted runs.
SH engines can be obtained from 'mikegoesflying.com'.
