I met Iggy pop in person in 2007, after the show in Zagreb Croatia, he was the nicest guy to us, he hugged us all , like we were his friends. He even asked about my band, when he saw it on my shirt, He ¸, Ron and Scott Asheton from Stooges signed our records, and talked with us for 30 min, one of the best days in my life.
Wow, lucky bastard!
Hej yes, this tour 2007, we were in Wrocław Poland, i remember that the tickets was so cheap, around 15euro, great show and yes Iggy is the nicest guy, pozdro!
You interviewed Iggy Pop. Goddamn. This was awesome. Wish it was hours long.
He's one of a kind.
One of the best front men ever!
Red Devil Supremacy THE best arguably.
The best dude EVER
I found it really refreshing that he acknowledges and take to heart that Napster and the internet has killed the chokehold those frat-boys had on pure music
Mtv played just as big a role as Napster in destroying music. Turning it into the cheapest plastic piece of consumerism trend fad follower shit. They eventually threw all the real artist that got them started under the bus for the cheap plastic imitstions that made money. People don't have the time to make good music now anyway. In 1969 you could pay rent for the month on 5 days wages. Its all rich posers nowadays pretending to be artist. We dont have artist in the 21st century. We have celebrities.
Iggy even at this stage of his life Iggy seems like such a genuine, kind, pure soul. Nobody out there is like him.❤
The best set of questions I’ve heard presented to Mr. Pop. Man is a gem. In classic American fashion, terribly unheralded in the annals of influential, studied and original musical icons. Stooges took no prisoners and remain relevant and wickedly hip and fun to crank up.
He is such a great, humble guy, down to earth at at 76 still a great performer. He was just in London, just wow 💚❤️🩷
Iggy tells it like it is. A very intelligent guy that doesn't bow down to the stereotypes in the music industry.
You can also include John Lydon 🤘🤘👍👍
This...made me cry. Amazing. Truly beautiful.
Great interview.
Speaking of misinterpreting lyrics, I thought for a long time he sang 'Radio Birdman' in the Stooges' song, '1970', rather than 'radio burnin'' then found out a band had named themselves after the same misinterpretation.
Which is an incredible band btw.
Oh I didn't know that I always saw birdman and the saints as Australian Stooges
Unbelievably interesting…Iggy Pop a real foot soldier in the evolution and modern ruling empire of music. We have the conquerers and explorers and kings of the 50’s and 60’s…..Iggy was there for the late 60’s and 70’s music revolution. He was real and raw and still walks it…you can see so much experience in his face…in my opinion one of the greatest exciting frontmen and solo performers of our time…..what a dude and what a unique and decent human being with a lust for life🎤🎼🥁
This is a really good interview. It's great to hear Iggy digging in to the history of music and American life. For years, too many interviewers would waste their interviews with Iggy by asking the same stupid questions. Thanks for this!
The first time I saw him was a late teen, in 1983 in Cascais, Portugal. Passenger always on the radio. Well...He came late to stage.. That's OK.. I forgive.. He came extremely happy and jumping with a great black eye.. Climbed the PA and up there with open arms with a great smile.. The crew got to pickup some stair.. After, in a song, he jumped back like a gym and smashed the drums... The drummer punch him and go away.. Iggy goes after him while the musicians still playing.. He and the drummer come on stage.. Iggy was happy.. Always happy... Start other song or two and goodbye goodnight... They don't play passenger... The concert last 50 minutes, or less.. Thanks.
Ten years after (not the USA old band) , 1993, in Coliseu de Lisboa... Iggy Pop give a great and wonderful concert..
I forgive him.. 👍
anyone else picturing Iggy "in his man cave, in the swamps outside of Miami" being just that lol?
As 2019 he is in his 70’s he deserved it
70's are the new 50's thank God
Iggy is the man
Great that you interviewed him
I would love to see him talk about his album, American Caesar.
I was walking out of the subway on canal Street with a friend of mine in the summer of '95 and Iggy was standing in a black suit, black cowboy boots, black wraparounds, black shirt and lace tie leaning against a wall. Back then I had seen few if no interviews with him and didn't know how he would take a stranger walking Ng up to him. If I had known how cordial he is I would have walked up to him. Anyway, a few years ago I got to see him live in Rome with the Stooges. It was a hot summer but fortunately it had rained that day and the air was cool.....he did not disappoint. He was a force of nature. Great entertainer. Since then I have noticed he has slowed down a little so it was even more amazing to see him in full flight.
Really enjoying interview, I could see everything through his words.
absolute legend, great interview
Such a great voice!
lol, Iggy Pop's first words are 'but you have Rush' . . wow
Iggy Pop was thankfully not an asshole about you being late. Great interview. Nice work. 😄
"The weapons were getting heavier" this is even more true today. At least people resisted nuclear proliferation back then and actually discussed it. He actually refers to this again with "megaton 2" This is someone with his eyes open.
For a man who's been down in the abyss and boogied in it, Iggy is remarkably articulate and clear thinking, speaks the truth, and wears his heart on his sleeve (whether he's shirtless or not).
I can't help but get the feeling that he's playing the character of Iggy Pop. I can't blame him though; that's where the money is.
Im stoked that Iggy Pop has the same target record player i have hahahah
great interview! curious about Iggy saying it was all over in 2000, does he mean music itself, or just the ruling class?
Wish he'd talked more about the frat guys taking over.
"Frighteningly sane"
Such a great line!
Iggy is a poet
Frighteningly intelligent
Super awsome dude
That’s a heck of a distance to cover for a roughly 6 minute interview. Nice while it lasted. Begs the question, is there any more?
Good one. Thoughtful questions help.
Could you do more reviews for albums? I really like your format but it would be even better if you can release more reviews. Cheers!
+Rakoon Berry Thanks. New Overkill review every Friday!
+BANGER check out Conan's new release. It is a monstrous heavy album.

1:24 left top
A Picture by Mick Rock
Iggy was a massive fan of the Syd Barrett era of Pink Floyd.
He played "Arnold Layne" on his radio show .
Syd Barrett and Iggy the Eskimo... now go and figure.
@ 2:35 did he eat a toenail?
i mean the man has self-mutilated in front of thousands of people dozens of time and invented the stage dive so... let him snack on a hangnail lmao.

Did he just say "the power of the flower was waning"? Wouldn't it more likely wilt, or droop?
Iggy is good but he was amazing with Dave Ron and Scott
Canada? Where the f*ck's that?
Damn that is a huge foot!
Did I really see Iggy smearing peanut butter all over his chest in a concert or was that ummmmm ... something else?
LOL. It's a well known concert clip from around 1970. xD
@Randall Layman proof? if i didn't know this im gonna eviscerate myself.
@Randall Layman well believe me darling, it'll be all smiles over here when im staring down at me down guts on the floor and I plummet into a endlessly fiery circle of hell.
Iggy wanted to be a dog and dogs love peanut butter 🐶
why is talking shit about greatest of blues?
I don't think he was, he was just saying the truth no judgement.
מייק טייסון That was the absolute opposite of talking shit
It’s true. You think music that dark and heavy came out of pleasant folk?
Is it just me or does Jared Leto look like Iggy
Its just you
Legend.
