I met Iggy pop in person in 2007, after the show in Zagreb Croatia, he was the nicest guy to us, he hugged us all , like we were his friends. He even asked about my band, when he saw it on my shirt, He ¸, Ron and Scott Asheton from Stooges signed our records, and talked with us for 30 min, one of the best days in my life.

The song Dirt by the Stooges has definitely put me in the type of trance he talks about when explaining the blues

Or the long meditative track on the 1st Stooges album. I used to skip that one, but now I don't. Luv it.

I found it really refreshing that he acknowledges and take to heart that Napster and the internet has killed the chokehold those frat-boys had on pure music

Mtv played just as big a role as Napster in destroying music. Turning it into the cheapest plastic piece of consumerism trend fad follower shit. They eventually threw all the real artist that got them started under the bus for the cheap plastic imitstions that made money. People don't have the time to make good music now anyway. In 1969 you could pay rent for the month on 5 days wages. Its all rich posers nowadays pretending to be artist. We dont have artist in the 21st century. We have celebrities.

    Great interview.
Speaking of misinterpreting lyrics, I thought for a long time he sang 'Radio Birdman' in the Stooges' song, '1970', rather than 'radio burnin'' then found out a band had named themselves after the same misinterpretation.

The best set of questions I’ve heard presented to Mr. Pop. Man is a gem. In classic American fashion, terribly unheralded in the annals of influential, studied and original musical icons. Stooges took no prisoners and remain relevant and wickedly hip and fun to crank up.

Unbelievably interesting…Iggy Pop a real foot soldier in the evolution and modern ruling empire of music. We have the conquerers and explorers and kings of the 50’s and 60’s…..Iggy was there for the late 60’s and 70’s music revolution. He was real and raw and still walks it…you can see so much experience in his face…in my opinion one of the greatest exciting frontmen and solo performers of our time…..what a dude and what a unique and decent human being with a lust for life🎤🎼🥁

I was walking out of the subway on canal Street with a friend of mine in the summer of '95 and Iggy was standing in a black suit, black cowboy boots, black wraparounds, black shirt and lace tie leaning against a wall. Back then I had seen few if no interviews with him and didn't know how he would take a stranger walking Ng up to him. If I had known how cordial he is I would have walked up to him. Anyway, a few years ago I got to see him live in Rome with the Stooges. It was a hot summer but fortunately it had rained that day and the air was cool.....he did not disappoint. He was a force of nature. Great entertainer. Since then I have noticed he has slowed down a little so it was even more amazing to see him in full flight.

For a man who's been down in the abyss and boogied in it, Iggy is remarkably articulate and clear thinking, speaks the truth, and wears his heart on his sleeve (whether he's shirtless or not).
