I've watched the whole series on the Amish Community and I'm blown away by how happy, humble and generous everyone is. I didn't know much about the Amish before watching this, so thank you, Peter! I'm kindly jealous of their lifestyle and wish i could escape the craziness here in the UK and live a life in such a tight Community. In all seriousness I think these people live the best life in this day and age. I appreciate the way you presented the whole series without putting a spin on it but just rather inform people like me that didnt know more than what's usually mentioned about the Amish. Amazing stuff.
ya I like the series , nice content . So I was wondering what their views are on clothing items like shorts or short jeans , I grow up in a culture where you don't wear shorts and you don't wear anything tight , mostly loose fit and stuff , it was mostly jeans or regular long pants that people wore , I'm no longer religious or anything but I was wondering what their views are on different clothing styles . We also were banned from drinking alcohol , I wonder how the Amish view drinking and stuff . Honestly I don't have a problem with the whole horse riding thing , I'm fine with it , its also good for the environment because your not releasing garbage into the air , its not particle for me but good for them
@@sinabagherisarvestani8924 The Amish men will not wear shorts outside of the home and the women will always wear a dress. Beer is acceptable in certain communities but in moderation.
I've been seriously thinking about joining them over the last few years. I've always loved the lifestyle. The way the world is now they have much more to offer.
@@michelleturner6865 Keep in mind, like Peter said himself, don't just think that this is all Amish is. There are always side affects. If you are able to handle not being connected to the outside world and separating yourself from friends and stuff, maybe you could consider it. I see the appeal, but personally I feel that there are more things for me to do in this world than live somewhere and not think about the world outside.
@@michelleturner6865 I'm really considering joining them myself. I only don't know what Im going to do regarding the church since Im agnostic but other than that I love most things the modern Amish represent, using technology only for the benefits of it without abusing it. No violence in their community, no drugs, no crime, no fear. And also living in such a harmony with nature and your community, I didn't even think something like that was possible before watching this. I'm going to need a wife tho 😂
Peter, you make a fine looking Amish man. When you donated the items back at the auction, I had tears. You are such a good person. Thank you and may God bless you all of your life.🙏❤️
I'm in the military, currently stationed in North Carolina, and I have watched every single episode of this Amish series. I'm originally from Wayne County, Ohio and while I already knew a good amount about the Amish just from interactions in daily life, this series has really made me feel like I was back home at a time when I desperately needed it. Thank you Peter for bringing me a little piece of home.
Friend of mine put his car in a ditch one winter, the Amish hitched on and pulled him out with 2 horses, no joke 😂 very kind people and we do business with them regularly in Clare, MI.
I love cruising around Clare in all seasons. Have seen barn raising and home building and have stopped at as many sales tables as possible to by home and hand made goods. They are lovely polite and kind people who deserve our respect.
I love Peter's city boy strut in those Amish clothes. Too funny. Like John Travolta in Saturday night live going down the street in Amish clothes. You go peter!!
That was too funny, i was thinking the same thing, Peter is just too cool, he can pull off anything :) 🎼you can tell by the way i use my walk 🎶im a womans man 🎶no time to talk🎵🎵 ... Lol
You can really see how much has changed between some of your first interactions with them to now. They have really welcomed you into their lives and a big part of that comes from you being completely open to theirs. You’ve made life long friends in Brian and the Amish people, just as you did with Shloime and the Hasidic Jews. You’re living a cool life brother and you seem like a good bloke to have a couple beers with. Cheers from Australia.
@task force whiskyyeah you can really see these guys are stone cold evil ay mate ? Get a grip. Wed take them in aussie any day of the week, we need more hard working farmers.
I have yet to see someone who records and reports minorities the way Peter does. This goes to show that fair reporting sells. Peter, I hope you know the good that your videos does for the world by reducing hatred between groups. You are a true reporter because you are the opposite of creating drama. And because you say it as it is. I'm sure your family is very proud.
@@Ranstone I've heard nothing but positive feedback on every single post of his. I find his videos informative, interesting and he is always respectful. No matter where he is.
Peter, it needs to be said: I found your channel through the Chassidic series, specifically the Shabbat dinner video which popped up randomly on my feed. What you’re doing is here probably the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. What you’re providing here is what people typically have to travel for, and most of us don’t have the means or the time. And even if we can explore the world, meaningfully penetrating these communities we aspire to learn about is usually too difficult for the average traveler. I’ve learned so much about life itself learning about these different cultures. I take mental notes about every community you present; how to live more simply from the Amish, how to structure family raising from the Jewish, how to overcome environmental challenges from your Brooklyn videos, and so on. This is how we overcome cultural and religious hate. Of course these communities have their internal problems, but I’ve learned that these groups that are often punchlines in the Western world are beautiful, and there’s a reason they’ve survived. Thank you.
@@PeterSantenello Any chance of you going to the dutch Bible belt after Covid is over? The key word in that statement is ALL. everyone works and contributes. A large percentage of americans have purposely confused welfare with “looking out for one another”. That is NOT what is happening here.
You have destroyed all negative stereotypes of the Amish and what we are left with is positivity and happiness. These people are amazing, thanks for your insight. I’ve made positive changes in my own life because of these people. Thanks and please make these videos longer :)

Your talent is amazing & keep up the awesome content!
the trade off would be removing all electronics from the world. Regular people are scarred and minds destroyed from social media. You could go live that way at any time, it's your choice!
Anybody else tempted to quit the city life to go join this wonderful community of Amish? I’m 25 and I remember as a kid thinking how ‘boring’ their lives must be and how they’re probably jealous of our tech-filled lifestyle. When in reality, it was me who is jealous of them and their lifestyle! Such a community oriented and genuinely good group of people unlike many lukewarm Christians of today. Great video as always, keep them coming(but take sometime to enjoy the fruits of your success & light one up of that sticky icky). Much love bro 😜
While it looks amazing, there is a whole other side to it. If you're interested there is a documentary series hosted by former-Amish Joseph Graber called Breaking the Silence. It goes behind the scene to the darker sides of Amish culture. A hybrid would be nice.

Thank you for doing all these Amish videos! I'm a Yoder and my dad was raised Amish and grew up in Holmes County. He eventually moved down to Plain City, where I was born and raised (live in Texas now). A lot of my relatives are still Amish and live in Holmes County. The Mt Hope Auction is a huge part of my childhood. They have another similar one but for kidney-related health that was actually started by my grandmother. I remember going up every year to help with food and several other things. One of my fondest memories. We spent a lot of time in Holmes County with my Amish relatives when I was young. All these videos bring back such great memories! Also, my grandparents had a home right there in Pinecraft where you were in Florida. We would go down every spring break and stay with them. I just love the great job you did with portraying the Amish. For so long, there have been so many shows that portray the Amish the wrong way. This definitely helps debunk a lot of myths and false information those shows have started.

For as long as I can remember (I'm 44), all of our family get-togethers have always had a lot of Amish there. I’ve always had good interactions with the Amish. They’ve got the best selection in our farmers market. They quit offering plastic bags way before it was cool. A while ago I found out they don’t drive. I was at staples and an Amish woman came up to me and asked if I could drive her to the fabric store just down the road. Of course I did, I got a little fabric too. We had a good chat, it was an unexpected but fun experience.

Been wholeheartedly loving this series. What a beautiful community they have created over the years. You have documented it so eloquently (as you always do). This video in particular was so much fun, your smile and energy was infectious during the auction!! Best content, you're very talented.
The Amish are NOT the most empathetic people you will ever meet when it comes to animal welfare. They will take care of their horses and cattle only as much as it takes to keep them working and producing. A buggy horse might be tied up for hours in the hot sun with no shade or water, tormented by flies because the owners won’t put fly spray on them. I’ve never seen my neighbors call a veterinarian. If an animal is sick they usually only try some home remedy. Sometimes it works, usually it doesn’t. That applies mostly to horses, cattle, and other livestock. As for cats and dogs, they are not pets. You’ll never see one inside the home or even in a doghouse and they don’t buy dog/cat food for them. They just wander about the place and are expected to feed themselves on whatever they can scrounge up. They find shelter in whatever place they can, whether it is -20 or 95 outside. The Amish will not interact with them by talking to them (other than an order) or petting them. They are never spayed or neutered so you can expect to see litter after litter running around the barnyard. Very few will survive past a year or two. Some buy a dog from a breeder for varmint control. Those are the puppy mills that others have mentioned. I’ve seen one or two of those mills and I can’t imagine a worse place to live. Great Pyrenees and Australian Shepherds are common varmint dogs. And as for outright cruelty, that’s more common than you might think. I’ve seen Amish beat a recalcitrant horse or dog mercilessly. I once saw our neighbor kids tormenting a small kitten while it cried and cried (I never saw that kitten again).
You definitely suit being an Amish person, Peter! I couldn’t stop giggling at the lady fitting you for your outfit…. I think she was getting weak at the knees. Awesome video and I was absolutely mesmerised by the auctioneer!!! Bravo! 💫❤️

Watching these videos about the amish community gives me great comfort. Atleast somebody from somewhere in the world is living the life as they want during this so called PANDEMIC .
I came from Massachusetts for a sale in Mt Hope. I stopped at a hardware store to ask directions. A young Amish man said "follow us" and he had his driver go miles out of their way to take me where I was going. I always remember that kindness.
This series has been so good. I love the lives they all live its much more about family and community than everyone for themselves. It makes me realise how much TV and Devices have made us all so isolated. You can literally be in the same room with the kids and we are all doing our own thing on our devices and we are communicating or having quality time together.
nah Netflix is way too negativity orient for this. Unless it is about climate change, gender equality or any other strife in modern age, it is not for them.

We have worked for some old order Mennonites in Cynthiana Ohio for almost 3 years now hauling trusses and lumber, without a doubt THE BEST job we've ever had, my husband prefers working with/for the Amish and especially old order Mennonites, overall more honest than Englishers. Peter this series is amazing. It’s legitimately completely changed my views on these guys. It was never negative, just completely opened my eyes to a world I had never seen an really we should bring allot of these values back into society.
This is amazing. I've lived in Ohio my whole life. I've always been around the Amish. I've worked in their communities. I've learned so much more about them watching this series than I've learned my whole life. I used to collect blood. Their Bishop's required the whole community to donate. It always bothered me they supplied the bulk of of the Cleveland region blood supply. They donate far more than they receive. I could run a drive in the middle of a heavily populated area and not collect a lot but their small communities would keep us busy all day long. They were lined up down the street all day.

Beautiful comment! I agree 100%. Finding Peter's channel has been a blessing.
Thank you.
What a great comment Tom! Thanks for sharing this with us.

Hey Taco!
TACOOOOOOOOO

Peter I honestly don't think you're aware of how awesome your channel truly is. I've enjoyed this Amish series so much 💕
Are you Porta Rico?
By far my favorite episode following Peter and the behind the scenes with the Amish! ❤
Absolutely adorable series. I'm sharing this with my daughter.
Netflix should hire you to do a series on this. In my opinion the best series on UA-cam.
nah Netflix is way too negativity orient for this. Unless it is about climate change, gender equality or any other strife in modern age, it is not for them.
This is probably Peters favorite visit out of all the places he has been to.
Just love that you chose to do this series Peter! Many people are curious about the Amish and they always get the wrong impression. I drive for the Amish on occasion and have become very close to some of them! With your help, people will be able to see the True heart of many of these people. Once again thank you ❤️
These people are so nice I'm almost crying, such a rare sight.
That's because all of them are rich, just like the Mormons. Easy for everyone to be nice when nobody has a money problem.
@@Kevin_40 I don't agree with this sentiment, I know a lot of poor people who are kind hearted people.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God!
When I return to America, I'm gonna find one of these Amish auctions, buy a lot of high-ticket stuff and donate them back.I can't believe I grew up in Pennsylvania, saw a lot of Amish, Mennonites and Bruderhof's in my time...but never knew they were such generous, kind and caring people. Thank you, Peter, for making these videos. I've thoroughly enjoyed the entire Amish series. Your UA-cam channel deserves an Emmy and Peabody.
Just another amazing and introspective look at such a beautiful and kind world.
Also, loved that you participated in the auction in order support a good cause and especially when you donated your items back, you’re just a good guy Peter.
I love this so much, the fact that you respect people so much is so beautiful!!
We have worked for some old order Mennonites in Cynthiana Ohio for almost 3 years now hauling trusses and lumber, without a doubt THE BEST job we've ever had, my husband prefers working with/for the Amish and especially old order Mennonites, overall more honest than Englishers. They've let us into their lives and invited us to some family events, really amazing community and a huge thank you to Auker's Custom Truss for being the best guy we've ever worked for!
I love your interest, respect and genuine warmth for the Amish. It has given me a wonderful insight into their lives and how unique and special they are.
Peter, thank you for your great content. I'm watching all your video's with my wife and kids (they are learning English atm so that's a double win!) The unbiassed way you interact with the people from all these very different communities is a great example that I'm happy to present to my kids. In fact I believe your channel should be mandatory watching (if there would be such a thing) for all. You are a force for good in my book. Godspeed to you!
The more i watch this, the more i want to go live with them .
Congrats you have been brainwashed.
Same
Fetus it's possible. Not easy, as they shun outsiders. But you could definitely try -
You can always find like minded people and start your own community.
Do it, im here😂
Peter this series is amazing.
Blood transfusion go against the Bibles teachings
@@hankhardonblkface6941 Not for them it doesn't. I know for a fact spent 10 years running drives in this same community he's in. They even have their own bank called Altman
im from england how refreshing to see such wonderful people a fantastic caring community
Been watching you for a long time and I have never seen you more happy. the Amish lifestyle suits you! Keep up the great content.
Wouldn’t expect the Amish series was my favorite but I want more. These people are awesome love there communitu
Thanks for your videos, I just discovered them recently, and I really appreciate that you approach the Amish community with an attitude of respect and curiosity. I think they have a beautiful culture of humility, faith, and fellowship, and that the rest of us could learn a lot from them.
I live an hour away from there and all my furniture is made there and very high quality! The lack of Chinese made crap is Great!!
Amish furniture last a lifetime. I love this type content Peter.
Amish fireplace too . 🔥
Furniture at my late grandparents' home was pretty similar to what the amish have. Some of it was inherited from earlier generations, being well over 100 years old and still going. They last more than one lifetime.
last many lifetimes..!!
The Amish are so friendly and helpful. An hour from where I went to college was an Amish community. I loved going there whenever I was feeling home sick and needed a good home style meal and great conversation.
These communities are the greatest example of application of Christian teachings to everyday life and communal living
Not really
Theirs crazies in every community. Like that ass hat in one of the Amish communities that went around cutting beards. You know it's messed up when the Amish are forced to call the cops.
Your videos are a breath of fresh air in a pretty polluted world. Thank you Peter.
God bless you sir. We are greatful for your service and sacrifice. We know the military is hard right now and your continued service to protect is appreciated and we will pray for you every night in our prayers.
Wow you out did yourself Peter , this one was absolutely amazing . I learned so much about the different Amish and now I respect them even more, God Bless .
Watching these videos on the Amish have really made me think about the importance of community. It's really beautiful what they have there!
America was mostly like that just a few decades ago. Now days your lucky to even know who any of your neighbors names let alone help them out.
Some of the honest wholesome people you'll ever meet! I believe we all could learn a lot from their ways!
Wow Peter, transformation in the works! The auction actually brought a tear to my eye. The act of giving is so heartfelt and good for the soul. Beautiful way to care for the community. Do I see a buggy and some land in your future? IF not maybe just some good pie to go! :)
this so calming to watch these videos, I love them Peter
