G'day Jim
Brilliant presentation!
You definitely through in the kitchen sink, but you forgot the plug!
A gentle touch golden hour on the lights of the building would make the yellow pop.
Havagooday mate
Greg
thanks much Greg and for sure a little golden hour is always welcome 😀😀😀
Wow Jim you always have something new to show on your blog. Thank you for sharing this and I will definitely give this a go. Cheers :)
thanks mate and hope you are well!
An ingenious image edit Jim and definately fun. A great demo of how powerful and flexible modern image edit software has become.
thanks so much Ken and yep there's a lot we can do nowadays!
Excellent video Jim and I am definitely going to try this method. Thanks for sharing.
thanks so much Steve and have fun!
Love watching how you use the tools. Great job as always!
thank you for watching Paul!
Now that’s cool! I was wondering about the process of both exposure and focus stacking. This explains it beautifully. Thanks!
thank you Marc!
Great result. Excellent video. So many helpful tips.
thank you Colin!
Jim, I'd like to see an in depth video on how you use super contrast. Thanks.
Hi Jim and this video may help: ua-cam.com/video/kz4bFa6BOL0/v-deo.html and thanks!
Fantastic technique, Jim👌
thank you Jose!
Cool concept, Jim!
thank you for watching!
Great result. I sometimes use the focus stack in camera with my G9 + bracket too, thank's for interesting demo Jim.
thanks for watching Colin!
Thanks Jim great as always
thank you Jon!
Wow. Just wow! This may be the motivation I need to carry my tripod more!! Great demonstration - thanks!!
oh thanks Bert and yeah I need to carry my tripod a bit more often too 😀
I also do this with landscapes. I had 10 focus points with 3 shots in each that I combined in hdr merge and ended up with a great image out of 30 shots combined. Loving all that Luminar NEO offers. You could do it in Photoshop, but with a lot more work. Great video for sure.
thanks so much Mike and yes Luminar does make it much easier!
I think I just might have to try and have me some fun like you had in this edit Jim! 👍🏻👍🏻
It is pretty fun TC, enjoy!
great video, great photo(s), and cool edits.
thank you Charles!
Great example ! Really makes a difference.
hey thanks David and hope you are well!
wadda goooo - this was a great video - it's on. my do try list!!!
thanks and have fun!
Great edit and ideas to use!!!!
thanks much for watching!
Great video! Super informative. I’m excited to go try this. What did you do to get the people in focus? I’m assuming that you did two bracketed sets for focus and HDR and that the people might have moved a little between them.
Thank you Russell. The people are in focus because they were pretty still, luckily. You can also choose deghosting when merging the brackets, which helps. There probably was some movement but the deghosting corrected it. thanks
Thx for the video!
thanks for watching!
Very, very neat!
thanks Stephen!
thank you!!
thanks for watching!
I do similar things with HDR panoramas. I've done it with 16 HDR images, each comprised of 3 bracketed shots per HDR image.
that's awesome, and I bet your final file was HUGE!
Great video
thank you Dan!
Please compare the Neo ai extensions with the comparable Topaz ai tools. I have the whole set of Topaz ai modules and wonder whether I should consider adding the comparable Neo extensions. I am a fan of yours.❤
That was a really interesting edit. I'm still looking for a decent app in Android that will automatically bracket for focus and light. It's one of my frequent suggestions to Luminar in their surveys -- don't worry about making an App to replicate Neo things on the phone... if you want to build a phone app, build something that improves our ability to capture raw materials for use in Neo. Until then, stacking is of limited use to me... it works but it's quite difficult to do on the phone -- I did get a tripod but of course I never have it with me when I actually want to use it.
Thanks for watching. So you only shoot with a phone? I haven't tried any of this on my iPhone images.
@@JimNix I gave up my camera once digital images hit 10mp. I do IT for a living, so I feel like I have to be supporting the whole digital format. Of course, cameras have moved on since then and I keep looking at them with interest but I take photos on my morning walks/jogs so it's unlikely that I'd have the camera with me when I discovered an amazing image. That said, I've had some brilliant results on the phone. Even using manual bracketing with HDR merge.
@@GavinBollard makes sense and you sure can't beat the portability and availability of a powerful camera in your pocket
These are great tips. Neo has a many tricks and a lot of power. But, for RAW processing I find DxO Photo Lab 6 Elite to be the best.
thanks much for watching Lysander, and I need to get back into DXO and try it out again, it is a good product.
@@JimNix One thing I notice is DxO loads RAF images instantly and Neo takes like 45 seconds to show the fully sharp issue. When I open the Neo Catalog all my RAF images look blurry and Neo fully loads them. Not so in DxO.
@@Lysander-Spooner hmm good to know, not sure why it takes longer to render them but thanks for sharing
Very interesting. I am new to Luminar NEO. When you do stacking and you are done, does the original get saved? Thank you.
Hi there and yes you still have your originals, which are in their original folder in the Luminar catalog. Thanks.
Jim, is there a comparison between focus stacking on Luminar Neo vs On1 Photo Raw anywhere?
Hi John and I have not done that, and haven't looked for it. So I am not sure.
Good video. I tried this and it didn't work. You discovered the key which is to crop the HDR merged images so they are the same size. Thanks
thanks for watching!
are these raw images or tiffs. how many sets of three for focus have you tried.
I shoot raw and use those to combine into the HDR, which then becomes a tiff. I have only done this a couple of times, and both times with 2 sets of brackets.
Mind blow but the lack of batch process makes this software totally unuseful for real estate/architecture photographers. It's really a shame such a great program to not have such a basic and simple tool and the staff in the comunity center do not even promise an update with batch process. So Luminar Neo will remain a stoftware for travelers, not for professional use.
When will these be released ?
These are already available.
You have proven how easy it is to over work an image.
ha yeah I wouldn't do this unless I really needed to - this was just an idea of what's possible
Guys where can I aurora 2019 hdr?? And is it the best hdr merger
I don't believe you can buy it any longer. If you bought it in the past, it should be in your Skylum account.
@Jim Nix What should I be using for HDR real estate for batch editing
@@doziboy803thethird6 yeah good question. Aurora HDR would be great for that but unfortunately you cannot do batch with the HDR Merge extension in Luminar Neo. So I guess you would have to look at another app, maybe Photomatix? Worth a Google search I guess.
would be nice, if luminar Neo worked properöy after the last update....
Hi Walo and sorry to hear it isn't working well for you right now. I assume you contacted support already?
@@JimNix Yes, I'm in contact, but no solution for the moment. W'll see..... For the moment I work with Luminar Ai :-)
@@fotowalo gosh sorry to hear that but hopefully it gets sorted quickly
I have tried these applications and I am sorry but they are not impressive whatsoever at what they do. Topaz Labs does a way better job. These extension in Neo are slow and consume so much memory is not funny, not to mention they are ridiculously over-priced. Neo is already bad enough when it comes to memory and resources and they seem to have no fix anytime soon. It has been reported to them many times and they are aware of the issues with Neo.. Adding this extensions makes it even worst.
Hi Franco and they are aware of the resources needed. AI just takes horsepower, same as with other apps. But it will improve over time. Noiseless AI was slower when it launched, but they sped it up. I expect the same with other extensions.
Luminar Neo is pretty lame. Doesn't even have an undo command. But this guy is a shill for Luminar.
If you don't like Luminar, that's cool. If you don't like me or my videos either, that's also cool. I just make videos about things that I like, same as everyone else on UA-cam, and I share tips and tricks on how to use these tools. If you think that makes me a shill, so be it. You are entitled to your opinion.
@@JimNix I want to apologize for my comment. I was wrong and you are absolutely correct on all counts.
Best wishes, Les Hall
@@leshall no worries at all Les and thank you for coming back and saying that. 🙏🏻
