    I put the vinegar in the water, boil it, put baking soda in the drain, pour the water/vinegar down a little at a time, stop as it foams up into sink, pour more when that settles down, until all is gone. Do this to my drains on a weekly basis in the kitchen, monthly in bathrooms. This is an oldie, my mom was doing this in the 1950's.

    Yes this works great! I also top it off with a few drops of lemon or eculyptus essential oil.

    Thanks for the info !!! I use "Kids & Pets" it's a natural enzyme I clean my carpet with. It takes all smell away instantly. But I think baking soda & vinegar would probably scrub more

    I used extra strength white vinegar (9% acidity) and used a full cup instead of half and it still took two applications before the smell went away.

    Hi, I take a slightly different approach, I remove the “P” trap and clean that out getting rid of a lot of gunk (good word that pity my online dictionary did not recognise it as a real word) than replace the pipe and use the baking soda and vinegar treatment. I put the gunk into a nappy bag (I use them for when my cay uses the tray) tie it up and put it into the outside bin

      Remove cap from drain,. Coat top of drain generously with dish soap (morning fresh). Let it's drip down and soak the piping... Then get a cheap toilet brush and scrub (go as far down as you can), then once it looks clear, discard brush (don't reuse), clean cap also, put cap back on, then do this method in this video

    Great short clip helping homeowners who have the time keep repeating doses. As a tradesman, there's not really the time to keep trying another dose, so out comes the strong stuff.
    The hot kettle down the drain is really good maintenance. I usually recommend once a month...would you say that's sufficient??

    • @GeorginaBisbyDIY
      @GeorginaBisbyDIY  3 роки тому

      It probably depends how careful you are about what you put down the sink but once a month seems like a good frequency to aim for 😊

    I've tried filling the sink twice with a ton of vinegar and baking soda left it overnight twice and filled the sink to the rim to flush it out twice and it still stinks! I just moved into thia place so I have no idea what the previous tenants did but I think I need to resort to harsh chemicals😓

      Vinegar is an acid, baking soda is a base. The two react with each other and cancel each other out.

    I can’t stand double sinks. That is why your sink stinks because of the plumbing connecting the two sinks. If you had one big sink you would never have this problem. That smell coming out of the double sink drain is toxic mold and very unhealthy. I hope this trend goes away but I doubt it.

    • @amberharris1853
