Hi Brian, I have the Weigh Safe 2” receiver with the 6” drop/rise with the stainless steel balls with dual matching locks and love it. It’s the best hitch I’ve owned, the model I have has the tongue weight gauge, great choice you will be very satisfied with your Weigh Safe purchase.
I watched very close to see what my thought would be, compared to my hitch, I believe was $350. About 8 years ago….it has bars and chains. A load leveler type. I wonder how your hitch functions in tight turns ? Seems your bars sliding along, would not bind up as tight as the chains on mine ? However for simplicity and cost, I will keep what I have, but may add air bag system on the half ton pickup. Thanks for sweating for us viewers 👍👍
Interesting hitch setup, Brian. Over the years, I've always set my WD hitches up at the CAT scale, but this one seems a little more "home-set-up-friendly". Your F250 is going to pull this trailer like a champ. Very nice setup: truck, hitch, trailer. Have fun with it.
@@BrianWatersOutdoors 😎👍. If you get one, make sure you order it with the Ark 2-wheeled tongue jack. My HT is a '22 model, and had to backfit it. They normally outfit them with a trailer jack with just a flat foot on it. With your crew, you'll probably want the 5x10 model. I have a 23zero Walkabout62 RTT mounted on mine where the teenage grandsons (2) sleep. Note: You'll probably want to add the rooftop a/c for those Texas summers.
Buyer beware: the Weigh Safe hitch is not compatible with BAL NXG travel trailer frames. This is the frame that my 2024 Jayco Jay Feather 21MML is on. The frame has a wide flange/lip near the coupler which does not fit between the ball and the adjustment bolt of the Weigh Safe. I had to return the Weigh Safe and pay for shipping, which was not cheap for due to its shipping weight. Ironically, I ended up going with an Equal-I-zer. Glad to hear the video maker was happy with that hitch.
Why in the world would you add a vertical bending force into the trailer frame to affect the profile of the truck for letteral sway control? An RV frame is designed to be as light as possible. If you go over uneven pavement like entrance to businesses or homes the pitch between the truck and trailer could change 3 too 5 degrees amplifying the bending forces in the trailer frame substantially. This can and I have seen it bend the frame. Put some air bags on the truck if the profile of the truck is affected that bad. This seems crazy.
There’s typically an area on your camper that states the tongue weight. It’s usually 10% of the trailer/camper weight. That hitch seems very heavy duty
Looks like a beast of a hitch, shouldn’t you have more drop as it is angled upwards on the hitch ball? Also your max tongue weight is only 1100 lbs on that F-250 or is that a restriction of that hitch? Your towing capacity should be at least 17000 lbs so I would have thought you would have more tongue weight capacity. I know the diesels have more towing capacity but that’s largely because of the power they make and not because of the suspension weight capacity.
Does the weight distribution hitch put more undo stress on the front of the frame of the TT?. And why do you need one in having the F-250?. The amount of weight your towing is well within the towing capacity correct?. Genuinely asking!.
Putting almost 1000 lbs on the bumper still decreases the amount of weight on the front drivetrain, which creates problems with braking and steering. Even with a super duty, I want some weight distribution, but more importantly the sway control this also gives with a 33’ trailer that acts like a giant billboard going down the highway👍🏻

That's a really cool hitch.

I'm thinking that hitch alone may weigh more than my entire 5x9 Hiker Trailer. Nice informative video. 😎👍
Looking at Hiker trailers myself now😉👍🏻

did you me the pro pride at 4k the Anderson is about 600 bucks. Excellent video thank you for the effort in making it !
Yes, I meant the ProPride hitch😂

But those stickers are notoriously not accurate. Really need to weigh when loaded up and ready for travel.
Ok two hours but a learning experience 😊

Don't forget the screws underneath the hitch.😊

I was so nervous you were going to hit you tail gate with that wrench/bar thingy. 😅
lol…me too
The installer must have had the impact wrench maxed out!
No kidding
At about 18:15, you mention vehicle set up including cargo capacity. My WSD app did not ask for that. hmmm?
👍🏻👍🏻
👍🏻
Hope you post a short video after you use it with this set up. Was your old truck a 1500? Same trailer when towing?
Yes, same trailer, but the old truck was an F150 (1500). I will be posting follow ups on this with my opinion after towing👍🏻
Which WD bars did you install. I have the 8500 pounders, but may exceed that. Still need to install, so the video helped.
I got the 12000 bars

Your comment is correct. Why does an F250 need that?

I tow my 9000 lb trailer with out weight distribution. No problem
I’m using it more for sway control than WD
@@BrianWatersOutdoors have you weighed your rig on the CAT scale? I’d like to see before and after if possible. Especially front axle weights?
With all the money you spend lol you don’t have an impact ??
Where’s the fun in that??😂
