Are you able to run SmartThings with a Google Home and no SmartThings hub? I'm asking because I'd like to convert my old tablet to a home device using ActionTiles, which works with SmartThings, but I want everything to be managed by my Home.
I haven't tried simple cloud to cloud integration, but I imagine that's possible. The problem is you're not likely to have a ton of devices in SmartThings that are just cloud-based and don't rely on their hub. You're also adding delays to processing if you're adding SmartThings as the intermediary...so it's possible, but not sure what it would help with!
@@AutomateYourLife well, as I see it, action tiles only works with SmartThings. Does it integrate with Google home as well? Or can it run devices standalone?
Great Video, seemed like those older products were not ready for prime time. Do you have information and/or a video for Google Nest Hub Max with Samsung SmartThings Hub 3rd generation? That would be awesome!
Thanks Bobby! This is old and I look back on these and wonder if they're good enough to keep up! I don't have one specific for their integration, but I promise you that SmartThings and Google are fully integrated and show up in my smart home videos (nearly every one). This old integration video is actually the basis for the integration that's gone on in my home for years! In my setup videos with the Max, SmartThings is already integrated so you can see some of the usage. I have also put a few videos below that show the extensive uses for SmartThings and then you can voice control it all with Google! Hi mate, is it possible to use Google Nest Hello activations or person trigger, to trigger routines. Or routines in smartthings. So if the Camera sees a person it will trigger something an action or routine?
Google or Alexa with a Samsung smartthing hub? Maybe the smarthing hub is messing me up, maybe just get both voice units and be done with it all. Starting to wonder why I got the hub now.
How can I get the Ring doorbell on the smartthing hub to work with Google home Mini and show up on my vizio? The Vizio is paired but I can't get the ring to discover on Google Home mini via the Samsung hub. I got the ring on the smartthing but google does not see the front door camera. Any Tricks
Ring is owned by Amazon and so you're going to find that most other Samsung, Google, and Apple devices can't do a thing with it. No real tricks to get it to show up on Google, but you could look into something like Tinycam (get the free version) and then look for that app on devices you have like your Vizio. A Fire TV Stick can have TinyCam too.
There's also some integration into Google Home's app if you have a look. Pin codes are supposed to be available for unlock using voice, but it's never worked right for me.
@@AutomateYourLife thanks for the reply, I'm just starting this Smart home journey. Will I be able to use a smart lock with Smart Things and use that with Google Hub Max for say "google good night" and the lights and doors lock? Thanks been watching a bunch of your videos
Hi Brian, Big fan of your videos. Extremely thorough and helpful. I was looking to make announcement on my G Home/ A Echo from an action triggered on Smartthings hub (contact sensor/motion sensor). Any pointers?
Hi Nick, thanks! You can do it on an echo right now. Google in a few months should be able to. So what you do is create a virtual switch in Smartthings and bring that over to Alexa. Use that as a trigger for a routine and then have Alexa say whatever you want!
I like the new one better, but the old one actually feels more natural in terms of how it works. It’s a funny split. However, the new If Then stuff in the new app is very good.
@@AutomateYourLife The new app was awful when it first launched, it's gotten better over time & as you say the If this then that type interface is a nice touch but the new one just looks & feels 'busier' than the old one (in my opinion) & I'm not a fan. It's inevitable that the classic app will be consigned to history at some point but hopefully not just yet
the big problem l see with all of this it's still controlled and is already hacked l hate l cannot connect my home systems without depending on Google, Samsung Hewlett Packard
Hi. I want to know if the smartthing v2 is better than the v3. Or witch one I need to buy as my first hub.
As your first hub, definitely buy a V3 hub. You'll have many more years with it, as the V2 will end up being deprecated before the V3! Go for it!
@@AutomateYourLife Thanks a lot.

Has things changed and now you can "arm" your smart locks with voice but still can't unlock via voice?

is it any better now? do you still have to say "run"?
Turn on, run, all those work. I assume this question is about scenes?

Thanks for the info.. I tried the first Samsung smart home and didn't work. Lol you're awesome.
Yeah, there’s a big difference between smart home and SmartThings:)
Thanks for watching!
Feel that connecting Google Home is much simpler than connecting to Amazon Alexa.
I love the connection process in the Google Home app, personally!
Which SmartThings app do you prefer, the classic app or the new one?
Slightly off topic comment I know, but I'm interested in your opinion

Couldn't to avoid duplicates just not set up hue on smartthings or google, and just use smart things for samsung only
Absolutely you can. :)
When I add Smart Things keep crashing
I'd heard there were a few issues yesterday with ST. Try again today, and if not, reload the app and try again!
Just a tip, don't say the keyword in your video. It skipped to the next video here.
