I don't know why this video ended up in my recommended but I'm fascinated. The level of detail is insane, and being walked through the whole process was so satisfying. It's incredible that can be achieved with playdough
I thought using playdough was hard but you also use it as paint! very impressive. it is fun to see you revisit old materials once again! it would be cool to see you remake foods from old videos with new techniques 😊
@ not me reading this while eating.. I’m not even going to lie I gagged a bit, cause I’m eating cereal which is a little soggy and just picturing someone throwing up on me plate made me gag on my cereal. 😭😭
making miniature food out of playdoh was how I got into art and sculpting! I don't sculpt with clay much any more but I do needle felt now~ seeing this makes me wanna try felting foods. your work is amazing!
Me too! As a kid my mom made play dough, she’d use flour, cream of tartar and salt. Sometimes she’d add almond scent or vanilla. She got me dyes to color the neutral dough with as needed. Every weekend she’d make a fresh batch of dough, it held quite well in ziploc baggies and Tupperware. I just used regular kitchen tools to sculpt it. Whatever my mom got she got for me…pasta makers, melon ballers, rolling pins etc. Endless hours of fun on rainy days :) Listening to her talk about the water game took me BACK! I grew up in the eighties (born in ‘78) and my best friend and I played outside as much as possible, we’d gather roses and other flowers to brew into both medicine and perfume. We pretended we were the proprietors of a fairy general store and we’d use fancy little bottles to make fairy alcohol too 😂😂😂 It was truly magical and I do think kids have such wonderfully immersive imaginations, and then, as we get older we are told to act serious, get our heads out of the clouds and part of that either dies or goes into a deep slumber. I hope you find your way back to art, I’m working on it too. Unfortunately as adults we develop a critical eye, and perfectionism can paralyze us. Letting go of thinking it should match what we have in mind is so hard. I just keep thinking it’s not about the end result, it’s about the process, it’s about playing and exiting reality for a while. I was at an auction one day looking at this really amazing bookcase someone built that resembled a dollhouse (I did end up buying it for $35!!) and I said to an older woman “I used to be talented too! Now I’m just old and dull” She whipped around and said to me “talent never dies, imagination never dies, it’s always there, but it won’t bother you, it’ll sleep quietly as long as you ignore it…but don’t ever think that because you’re out of practice or your skill set has changed that the innate talent is dead” I think of that all the time, as I find excuses to not play music anymore or paint again. I wish it were easier for us to just not care. To just be in the moment, but something happens in adulthood, we feel silly, foolish, immature and I’m really trying to divest myself of all that. I hope for you that you have no struggles getting back into creating, that you find something that feeds your soul, and I think funny felted foods sounds like so much FUN. Wishing you the very best…🙏🏻
As someone who never struggled with creativity as much as I do now as an adult (at least compared to when I was a kid, when things were less structured and I constantly had a freedom-loving play mindset), thank you for sharing your own stories.
