great episode, it's interesting to see a somewhat regular mapping series but with the distinct hydregod style™ honestly the lack of people on the surface reminds me of Gauche and the act of seizing, while this is something completely different, as in just unfortunately effective co-ordinated genocide, it does give me flashbacks as there aren't many series where a nation is almost completely devoid of people on the outside
I find this episode chilling in a way that I have rarely found in any mapping video. And I do also find it poetic that it is you who managed to uniquely create this scenario, and it being something of a different yet similar nature to... well, you probably know what I'd compare it to. Spectacular video.
I want to take a moment to share my thoughts after revisiting the "mapping videos" over the past week, along with their community. After dedicating years to my studies and various projects, reconnecting with this creative space has been both nostalgic and bittersweet. Seeing many of the talented mappers from what we once called the "golden age" has moved on is disheartening. Yet, I find the current direction of the series incredibly intriguing, bringing me back to the past when I used to binge-watch through all those "AHOW" and other similar series in that regard and bringing a smile while watching this new series. While many new mappers bring fresh perspectives, they often struggle to capture the raw essence that you and a select few others conveyed in the past. Seeing you back in this community is remarkable and continues to inspire. I am also profoundly moved by the motifs of "quietness" and "dystopia" that you explore within this episode, particularly the idea of individuals believing they serve a greater purpose, ultimately leading to catastrophe. As someone who has Vietnamese heritage, I resonate profoundly with these themes. My grandfather's stories from his time in Cambodia during Pol Pot's regime reflect similar tragedies depicted in your work. It is haunting to consider how humanity can unconsciously commit acts so horrific that they defy comprehension. The weight of such responsibility on a character adds layers of complexity and depth, showcasing exceptional writing. Thank you for sharing this video and the entire series; it truly brightened my day after a long one at school. I eagerly anticipate more content from you!
5:31 hadn't watched to the end but how can you really put 50M+ people in a single province of a country? there must be crazy hunger games and huge crowding, homelessness, miniscule GDP per capita
To make it simple the SS used the 10 year to literally exterminate all of them and of course they cant just fit them all in they must have underground camp and alot more where you think the body would go if they not in the surface?
Irl France had about 40-44 million people by this time period. I reckon, due to the sheer increase in brutality during this timeline, that France would be closer to 30 million people. Also the work camps are spread-out throughout the country, so they aren't all crowed in one giant death machinery, just multiple smaller ones across the country.
@HydreGod this actually pretty accurate especially to any empire game that have genocidal option 40M is huge but given enough time their perish is Inevitable
Premiere is up later than usual because I had to re-render the video at the last minute as the former render got messed up near the end.
