Can we all just appreciate that Possible History is trying to shake things up with new video styles, instead of spamming "What if x was y" or " What if my dog was the leader of the USSR". PH an incredible UA-camr and deserves all the love we can give him!
Update: If anyone who’s seeing this comment haven’t subscribed to PH yet, please do, he spends a lot of time and effort to publish 2 videos per week and he’s almost at 100k. He deserves it!
What IF my dog was the president of the USSR?
What IF my dog was the king on sweden
What if the leader of USSR had to pretend to be my dog?
What if my Shihtzu was Emperor of China
What if my argentinian grandpa was the leader of Germany?
I’d love a “what if everything went perfect” for Sweden. It was an active player for a long time and had a sizable empire, so it would be interesting to see how it could hold onto it despite its low population.
i believe alternate history hub did a similar video on this topic, but id like possible history to cover it too
Everything going perfect for Sweden would probably involve the annexation of Denmark and Norway into a united nordic kingdom, so Sweden wouldn't technically exist anymore. Bit of a paradox, that.
@@bjorntheviking6039Even if it didn't involve uniting Scandinavia it would still involve picking up enough population in Russia/Poland/wherever that your point would still hold.
If your a christian you need to repent of your sins PLZ
@@bjorntheviking6039sure it would, after Prussia united Germany it still existed until it was disbanded after ww2
21:57 Technically, the Kingdom of Prussia still existed, it was just part of a greater whole. The King of Prussia WAS the Kaiser of Germany. So, you could technically combine both Prussian wars and the wars of the German Empire.
While the state of prussia doesnt exist anymore (inside if germany) Brandenburg still exist. So Brandenburg-Prussia still lives
the kingdom of Prussia wasn't really in control of the rest of Germany yet though the Germans there admit it themselves
it's the same thing with Austria they was the holy Roman empire the entire time and all the smaller states was technically part of their empire but none of those states were really under Austrian control
@@rosariomachado7756 he considered himself a Saxon though he didn't consider himself a Prussian or even a Brandenburgian
the entire HRE considered the Austrian throne as the holy Roman throne and respected this to be a fact whilst also running their own realms mostly-independently leading to Brandenburg/Prussian growth
It was Austria's weakness in consolidating the HRE that lead to Prussia becoming an empire yes, but Prussia didn't have control of the northern portion of the HRE for that long at all and none of these micro states including Saxony ever considered themselves Prussian, actually the considered themselves German and Prussia brought them in as Germans not as Prussians
@@hellboyhero7819 Well, Prussia could come back just in time to face Russia, and its president-to-be LuigifanZane.
If we also speak about technicality Prussia was part of Poland, before its duke inherit Brandenburg (for reminder Teutonic Order betray and steal Polish soil). And for a time even after he declared himself King in Prussia. At least until with pressure from Swedes they get formal independence. Prussia was pain in Polish ass until WW2.
The editing is really good! Keep it up!

Basically any nation is suitable for this series, which makes it such a great idea for content on UA-cam. I have one problem however: sometimes it's very hard to be able to say, when you switch between different wars. There are no regular timestamps, no war name, nor the outcome of each conflict. This makes it very hard to understand the number of wars each country waged and overall weakens the quality of the series. Really hope we're gonna see some constant timestamps in video's corner providing us with information we should have been getting since USA video.
25:40 I can’t believe you forgot about the technically still ongoing war between East Germany and the micronation Molossia

What if Germany won WWI?
Germany was the rightful victor of WWI. Yes, Germany was destined to win the Great War! France was such a spoiled brat that didn't care about legends and robbed Germany of a trophy, causing Germany to fall into a deep depression that became narcissist in a way that made Germany a monster. Thank goodness Germany's depression was cured, but still, the broken mirror couldn't be fixed, and it has created a massive communism pandemic, as well as a decolonization domino effect that made our precious and legendary European empire severely ill, just so France could get Alsace-Lorraine, a land that they DON'T EVEN NEED!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Germany won the war, the European empires will still be powerful, and there would be no communism pandemic, leading to earlier world peace. I would love to see Britain get a video in this series! It would be cool seeing the Anglo-Scottish wars and wars of the empire.
Me too, I think they'll score pretty high up considering all the wars against natives.
Would be interesting to see
While most people assume the UK is a continuation of England, it was a Scottish dynasty that oversaw the unification of Britain in 1707 and is technically still ruling the UK
If you consider England as the basis, then you’d have to start with Wessex
If you consider Scotland as the basis, then it’s Dál Riata
British history is quite the complex mess till the glorious revolution
Though if you really wanted to simply, you could just start in 1707
Well, Britain surely went from a country that is on top of the world, the legend of all legends, the highest of the highest rankings, the most prestigious honors a country could receive, into a severely ill empire that is barely hanging on to life without its iconic navy, suffering from a rare disease called Notmykingititis, which, in other words, very few empires survive this.

Fun fact: at 21:39 PH said, that Kaiser Wilhelm II. fled to the Netherlands. That is true to some extand. As war raged and came to its end, W. II. was chilling in Belgium having a nice massage while the german people sent out "propaganda" that stated "Der Kaiser hat abgedankt" aka the Kaiser isn't Kaiser anymore. After that he fled.
Well, it was a bit more than propaganda. Can't really go back into your palace and parliament, if both are occupied by revolutionaries. The whole part of him giving up the throne is more to make the whole thing legal (yes, that is Germany, even a revolution has to be legalized).

Another amazing video
I do think WW2 is split in my mind.
It conquered half of Europe, then fought the biggest alliance in human history for three years, being destroyed in every letter of the word.
It was neevr going to win, basically.
But it also was going up against the shadows of the enemies former selves. And relied on the imcompetence of others, rather than being competent
I love this series so much. I wish, that you would continue it. I would really like you to look at the British military record.
I'd like to see England/Britain next. It would be interesting because England hasn't always had such an easy time of it in its medieval days, especially compared to the overwhelming success it saw during the empire.
I mean in medieval days it was going toe to toe with france, a country that had more than 4x its population
@@mappingshaman5280 And being ganked by Scotland too, yeah.
It raises the interesting question though, of who really United Britain?
When Britain unified in 1707, it had a Scottish dynasty on the throne (and technically still does as George I was the great grandson of James VI)
If you’re going by monarchy, then you’re following a line that starts with Scotland
If your following parliament, you’re following a line that starts with England and possibly Wessex (the old kingdom that unified England)
British history is very complex till the glorious revolution
Well, Britain surely went from a country that is on top of the world, the legend of all legends, the highest of the highest rankings, the most prestigious honors a country could receive, into a severely ill empire that is barely hanging on to life without its iconic navy, suffering from a rare disease called Notmykingititis, which, in other words, very few empires survive this.
@MrToymaster1 "and technically still does as George I was the great grandson of James VI." Not how things work. James VI was of the house of Stuart. George I was of the house of hannover. The modern King is of the house of saxe coeburg and gotha (or oldenburg if you follow the fathers line). These are german dynasties.
Arguing that Britain had a Scottish dynasty on the throne is fallacious since every single king and queen of England and Britain with the sole exceptions of William the conqueror and his direct sons, descend maternally from Alfred the great via Queen matilda of Scotland. Do we then say the dynasty currently on the throne is anglo saxon/ English? No of course not, because maternal lineages are not how dynasties are passed down unless laws are altered to allow it, as has been done in modern Britain.

-What if the US never expanded past the Mississippi River?
-What if the Ottomans never existed?

I suggest making these type of videos for China, the UK, Turkey, India,France, and Spain I really want to see those and then you can make ones on other nations like Japan,Korea, or Iran
I’d like to interject that the Allie’s did very much want west Germany to be a powerful military force, its entire system was rebuilt to be able to support a large scale war and throughout its existence its army eclipsed any other European state but the Soviet Union. It was supposed to stall the Warsaw pact on its own until nato forces could consolidate and reinforce it in case of a Russian invasion
you should totally do a scenario about the bavarian succession war
0:02 Incest and the Habsburgs 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Could you do a video about all the wars of Chile? Just to see the leaderboard of the Military Score change
I think the No-No Germans should get a higher score. yes they lost the war but during it they punched way above their weight class and preformed extremely well even when the tides began turning and resources were waning. its quite impressive how well they did in the war, taking over 5 years, tons of luck, and the largest coalition of nations in history to be defeated. looking at military performance only by wins and losses is shallow and ignores the greater picture, mainly military effectiveness.
Yes the "No-No Germans" (come on, just say Nazi, no one is going to punish you for calling them what they were) were so successful they lost the war.
I'm sure you could nitpick a million wars that way. Doing it for WWII is tempting because it was hugely consequential and so recent that there are still living witnesses, but once you open that door all the war score videos need to be reworked with tons more research effort put into them than before.
@@bluepapaya77 yeah but its more accurate.
If we're looking at military strength, military effectiveness would be a better way to understand that than counting wins vs losses, but military effectiveness is hard to measure. The German Empire and No-No Germany had highly competent militaries, but there were some areas the Entente/Allies had them beat, such as in the deployment of effective tanks in WW1.
However, if you're not looking at military strength and instead considering "how well they did overall militarily" wins vs losses is the best way to measure that. The Austrian Painter's Germany may have had an effective military, but they didn't do well militarily in the sense that they were completely conquered.

Nice video
In the previous two cases, both Russia and the US fought a lot of low intensity(for them at least) wars against technologically outmatched foes, something Prussia never had the luxury to in comparison, so that's something to consider. Plus they did admirably in the wars they lost as well.
Except for all the colonial wars the German empire waged and were mentioned in this video.

I love the “we are screwed,” humanizes the countries a bit
I'm not going to lie, Prussian and overall German history hasn't interested me as much due to the fandom that's formed around it. Whilst the history's fascinating, it's not really something obscure (at least within the history community) anymore and continues to get treated as such. The fanboying over it is a little bit cringe, and there's other fascinating histories during the early and late modern period that can be overlooked sometimes.
Still, very nice video, although it would probably be prudent to mention that (of course) Prussian military record isn't all of German military record. And just because of the fanbase doesn't mean that Prussia doesn't have a fascinating history, taking on various coalitions during the 18th century and developing into a behemoth of a state and a true national power during the 19th.
What countries history do you find to be the most interesting? :) greetings!

@@AlbertTheGamer-gk7sn You can’t win when you are starving, who knew?
Instead of starting with Brandenburg, you could start with Teutonic Order and duchy of Prussia. I believe that Teutonic Order wars are described in Internet. Or you could start with the Eastern Francia (later Kingdom of Germany), as in early history Germany as a whole country fought many wars. It was probably in beggining of XIII c. when the HRE was last time in war (with France), but I can be wrong. Even after that sometimes all germans fought together, eg. when Ottomans invaded Vienna - 1/3 of the defending army was from Habsburg domains, 1/3 from Germany and 1/3 from Poland.
Medieval wars in the HRE/the Kingdom of Germany were even more of a shitshow in terms of border fuckery, joining and tagging out than early modern wars though. If we mention them too, we'd be sitting here for 3 hours.
Starting with East Frankia, which is the starting point of a sort of German identity, would make the video 100 hours long though
@@sebe2255 He could make more videos than just one, as he did with Russia.
@@Macion-sm2ui True, but Russia has a more defined starting date. Germany’s is ambiguous at best. For example Early East Frankia and even the HRE were not really “German” in a modern identity sense
@@sebe2255 Nor Prussia. East Frankia was actually majority non-frankian German, as it was inhabited by Saxon, Bavarians, Thuringians, while Franks lived only in Franconia. But what is more important, East Frankia evolved into kingdom of Germany. All of Holy Roman Emperors were kings of Germany. Russia dosn't have more defined starting date. Sometimes start of Russia is consiedr with Ivan the Terrible becoming tsar, but in fact Muscovian grand dukes even before were using title lord of whole Russia. So should we start with Muscovy? But Muscovy was part of grand duchy of Vladimir and after all united with this entity. So maybe we should start with this Grand Duchy? Or maybe even with Kievan Rus'? But starting with Rus', shouldn't we include all of Rusian principalities, not only Vladimir and Muscovy? If so, wouldn't that suggest that Russia is succesor to Rus', which in modern times is controversial statement? So you see, that in many cases, not only German this is hard to find starting date. After more and more learning about history of a country it is only more difficult to chose one starting date.
Hey, your discord code isnt working! Please update it!
