Disability Awareness Month: Remembering the Nazis’ First Victims of Mass Murder

  • Robert Wagemann was just four years old when his mother overheard Nazi doctors discussing plans to kill him because of his shattered hip. German officials falsely claimed that Helene Melanie Lebel died from a mental health episode, but she was actually gassed because of her disability.
    During World War II, some medical professionals murdered patients who threatened the Nazis’ ideal of a “pure” German race. Life was cut short for an estimated 250,000 people under this program. Join us to learn about the victims-and the perpetrators, who instead of protecting their patients, ended the lives of those with mental and physical disabilities.

    My daughter was born in 2001 with an unknown neurological disorder. I often think she would have been murdered under the Nazis regardless of her being Christian or Jewish.

      If your daughter is severely disabled they nazis would have deemed her a 'defective' not worthy of life so yes they would have killed her, many 'Aryan' children were murdered under the T4 Nazi euthanasia programme.

    Thank you from California. USA, for this incredible work to keep the memory as well as the lessons of the events of those years alive, to keep the people as fresh in our minds as our own children currently are. We continue to pray for those families, with grateful hearts for their courageous contributions to this brave educational work. Thank you.

    I'm here because of my dad's account of what he witnessed as a soldier he was in WW2 in the European part of the war, and later on I'd asked him a few questions and he would answer them only to leave me in tears 😭

      I can hardly imagine the emotions of those Allied soldiers who uncovered this unearthly evil. What is terrifying is that your father likely helped prevent an even bigger genocide. I recently read how Hitler planned to create a "Greater German Reich" for Aryans by annexing nearly all of Eastern Europe (apart from most of Russia) and then purging the Slavic peoples by expulsion or genocide, whichever was easier for each area of the region (as they were thought of as lesser in value than the "Aryan" Germans). Adolf Hitler was a servant of the Devil. NOTHING LESS.

    Good evening from Australia. I don’t know how to do the direct conversation thing but thank you for your program. Darling, darling little children. One just can understand their warped thinking. My nephew married a half Jewish girl and I often thought about the children . Thank you we were years distant. My own child has MS so, no difference is there - she would have gone as well. 🙏🙏🙏🙏👵👵👵🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

    I suffer from depression and a chronic pain disease that I have had since my teenage years. I went on to become an oncology nurse for twenty two years. I would probably have been done away with if I lived in Germany at that time.

    As I commented in the past under another video, you don't have to go far to see euthanasia of disabled children now days. Just read about Charlie Gard, Alfie Evans and now also little Jewish toddler Alta Fixler who were all euthanised by the NHS in the UK. It's been a practice of the NHS for years, we just hear only about the cases that get to court.

    • @LittleKitty22

      I can confirm that. I've lost count how many times NHS staff have tried to do away with me because I'm assumed to be unemployed, and because I'm severely disabled. The abuse I get from NHS staff needs to be seen to be believed, it ranges from physical abuse to neglect to verbal abuse and threats. It's only that bad since I became disabled. They are also hellbent on getting me into a nursing home - because nursing homes kill off the disabled with Midazolam...

    In my family had been two potential victims, a great uncle, a son of my father’s grandfather, who was a Protestant priest. The other was an aunt of my mother, a great aunt of mine, a daughter of a teacher, and ortsgruppenleiter of nsdap. He was a teacher and an organist at the local church and a veteran of WW I. It's a horrific memory of that dark time. I'm suspicious that the eugenic theory of worthy or unworthy life is still under the so-called civilized surface, especially when judging economical processes. It's good to hear of this fact from outside Germany, although I'm quite interested in this topic to get an understanding of what happened then. It's of incomprehensible proportions.

    Did these people lack a moral compass?
    Unable to differentiate right from wrong, good from bad?

    • @thunderbird1921
      @thunderbird1921 2 роки тому +4

      WORSE, they weakened their moral conscience, and slowly bit by bit sadistic evil became more acceptable. Eventually, hurting those they hated was no different to them than killing a house fly or ant is for us. THAT is what's terrifying. Anyone can slowly go down that road to savagery if we do not keep a strong moral conscience and always recognize the value of all innocent human life.

    • @georgebrown8312
      @georgebrown8312 2 роки тому +3

      That is so true. When we stray from our moral bearings and entertain evil, then we go down that road to wickedness, depravity, and, eventual destruction.

      A lot of people in the so called nazi-elite had disabilities (goebbels for example) chronical illness (hitler himself), were junkies (göring) or mentally ill (Heß for example). Somehow they "managed" to pick the right spot in the lottery, in the end this crooked Ideology is nothing but a big, inhuman bluff without any relations to real life circumstances.

      It's not. It's an old Greek word that means "a good death". The intended meaning of the word and what the Nazis practiced were not really the same thing. Think of the difference between "a kind death" and "an execution".
