Disability Awareness Month: Remembering the Nazis’ First Victims of Mass Murder

- Robert Wagemann was just four years old when his mother overheard Nazi doctors discussing plans to kill him because of his shattered hip. German officials falsely claimed that Helene Melanie Lebel died from a mental health episode, but she was actually gassed because of her disability.
During World War II, some medical professionals murdered patients who threatened the Nazis’ ideal of a “pure” German race. Life was cut short for an estimated 250,000 people under this program. Join us to learn about the victims-and the perpetrators, who instead of protecting their patients, ended the lives of those with mental and physical disabilities.

I have a disability: autism spectrum disorder and it scares me to think that this was my fate if i'd lived during those times
Me as well.
My daughter was born in 2001 with an unknown neurological disorder. I often think she would have been murdered under the Nazis regardless of her being Christian or Jewish.
That is true. No one escaped this policy.
If your daughter is severely disabled they nazis would have deemed her a 'defective' not worthy of life so yes they would have killed her, many 'Aryan' children were murdered under the T4 Nazi euthanasia programme.
woo 2001 buddys
Now Canada euthanize a homeless because he was tired living homeless. That mean 😪 there no shelters for the homeless.
The standard they used was very broad.
Absolute madness poor children
😭May God bless those souls 🙏
If you support right wing parties you ultimately support the same thing
Thank you from California. USA, for this incredible work to keep the memory as well as the lessons of the events of those years alive, to keep the people as fresh in our minds as our own children currently are. We continue to pray for those families, with grateful hearts for their courageous contributions to this brave educational work. Thank you.
I'm here because of my dad's account of what he witnessed as a soldier he was in WW2 in the European part of the war, and later on I'd asked him a few questions and he would answer them only to leave me in tears 😭
Today’s word United Nations 🇺🇳 seeks to legalized the euthanasia. Our soldiers died in vain.
I can hardly imagine the emotions of those Allied soldiers who uncovered this unearthly evil. What is terrifying is that your father likely helped prevent an even bigger genocide. I recently read how Hitler planned to create a "Greater German Reich" for Aryans by annexing nearly all of Eastern Europe (apart from most of Russia) and then purging the Slavic peoples by expulsion or genocide, whichever was easier for each area of the region (as they were thought of as lesser in value than the "Aryan" Germans). Adolf Hitler was a servant of the Devil. NOTHING LESS.
God bless your father, Cyan. May he rest in peace.

What about now?
Unfortunately many of these criminals were aided either directly by the US and UK in not getting charged for crimes against humanity....!!!
Good evening from Australia. I don’t know how to do the direct conversation thing but thank you for your program. Darling, darling little children. One just can understand their warped thinking. My nephew married a half Jewish girl and I often thought about the children . Thank you we were years distant. My own child has MS so, no difference is there - she would have gone as well. 🙏🙏🙏🙏👵👵👵🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I get so sad and angry at the same time when I read or hear about this terrible time. And we must never forget about it and that it will never happen. Best regards from Robin from Denmark.
I suffer from depression and a chronic pain disease that I have had since my teenage years. I went on to become an oncology nurse for twenty two years. I would probably have been done away with if I lived in Germany at that time.
Thank you for this respectful, dignified treatment in this video of the victims of these horrendous crimes of the Nazis
They are the forgotten victims
I’m so glad that created this online exhibition to give a voice to those not just the Jews, Gypsies, and the other groups but especially to those that have been kept silent all this time, I hope once people check out and listen on this exhibit that they will realize these were human beings as well!! (DISABILITY AWARENESS MONTH ) WE SHALL NEVER FORGET 😔😔😔♿️🔯✡️🏳️🌈
Your comment really makes good sense. Thank you for reminding us that handicapped people are human, just as the rest of us are.
No never forget. I have a disability.
What happened was INSANE.
As a Schizoaffective person..I would be dead in that county or any one that has a dictator
I cant imagine the horror of knowing people were being killed all innocents, still cant imagine anyone willingly harming them but it did happen. I wd never trust any physician that doesnt believe in the sanctity of life
As I commented in the past under another video, you don't have to go far to see euthanasia of disabled children now days. Just read about Charlie Gard, Alfie Evans and now also little Jewish toddler Alta Fixler who were all euthanised by the NHS in the UK. It's been a practice of the NHS for years, we just hear only about the cases that get to court.
I can confirm that. I've lost count how many times NHS staff have tried to do away with me because I'm assumed to be unemployed, and because I'm severely disabled. The abuse I get from NHS staff needs to be seen to be believed, it ranges from physical abuse to neglect to verbal abuse and threats. It's only that bad since I became disabled. They are also hellbent on getting me into a nursing home - because nursing homes kill off the disabled with Midazolam...
and its still ongoing today!!
Be aware of those who are running for office and their stance on those with physical and mental disabilities and want to do a walk back on the Disabilities Act of the Constitution.
Crimes against humanity! I hope that these Nazis faced justice and paid the price for their crimes.
У нас утро,у Вас вечер,спасибо за видео и за тот вклад,который Вы делаете в историю)
Thanks for this video,u a making chronicles on past history to the modern youth, and let be the history and horror idea of the past time be an ecouragement to stay in peace and love for each other)
In my family had been two potential victims, a great uncle, a son of my father’s grandfather, who was a Protestant priest. The other was an aunt of my mother, a great aunt of mine, a daughter of a teacher, and ortsgruppenleiter of nsdap. He was a teacher and an organist at the local church and a veteran of WW I. It's a horrific memory of that dark time. I'm suspicious that the eugenic theory of worthy or unworthy life is still under the so-called civilized surface, especially when judging economical processes. It's good to hear of this fact from outside Germany, although I'm quite interested in this topic to get an understanding of what happened then. It's of incomprehensible proportions.
Never forget
never forgive
Don't deny don't forget don't stop trials
A Good Presentation on this 😢issue
They started with them. Poor kids and adults with disabilities under Aktion T4 had no choice or agency allowed to them. But they wanted to live. Disgusting system. RIP...
Thank you indeed and I hope you could also talk about the medications used inside the food given in camps.
I am in shock right now.
Did these people lack a moral compass?
Unable to differentiate right from wrong, good from bad?
WORSE, they weakened their moral conscience, and slowly bit by bit sadistic evil became more acceptable. Eventually, hurting those they hated was no different to them than killing a house fly or ant is for us. THAT is what's terrifying. Anyone can slowly go down that road to savagery if we do not keep a strong moral conscience and always recognize the value of all innocent human life.
That is so true. When we stray from our moral bearings and entertain evil, then we go down that road to wickedness, depravity, and, eventual destruction.
You had Goerbels who had a club foot but yet he was a propagandist for Hitler.
He hid it very well. He had very good speech.
And Hitler's parents were 2cd cousins - all of his siblings died as children or in infancy, except for one sister.
classic cynical hypocracy. I've hear Adolf Hitler himself had some jewish ancestors.
A lot of people in the so called nazi-elite had disabilities (goebbels for example) chronical illness (hitler himself), were junkies (göring) or mentally ill (Heß for example). Somehow they "managed" to pick the right spot in the lottery, in the end this crooked Ideology is nothing but a big, inhuman bluff without any relations to real life circumstances.
Hitler himself was half Jewish! You always find such hippocracy among evil people.
"Lebensunwertes Leben" is the phrase you're looking for.
Thank you.
Interestingly Australia and New Zealand have just bought in Euthanasia too I didn’t know it was a Natzi term
It's not. It's an old Greek word that means "a good death". The intended meaning of the word and what the Nazis practiced were not really the same thing. Think of the difference between "a kind death" and "an execution".
Important.
Superb discussion. Don’t forget Hadamar’s criminals.
I wouldn't be here if my parents lived in Germany at that time. My dad had cerebral palsy and my mom has a seizure disorder.
I was born with a metabolic disorder and my parents were Dutch. If i had been born in Holland at the time, I would have been killed
My grandson has autism.
And the elderly????? German or ... Some other nation's elderly???
Psychopathy is genetic. I knew a German man who admitted to me he is unable to feel empathy when people suffer, even his own family members, when they suffer and/or die!
it is there among most inbred communities ...i see that in martial communities ,muslims too ..no empathy including against little children .
Americans and other countries did the same things just not on the same scale
When Trump was president he made the comment where he didn't see the need to send kids with disabilities yo school because he thought it was a waste of money.
