Well they kinda have 3 drummers but the main drummer is Jay (since 2014 at least) and he's playing everything you hear. The other percussion is basically heard only if you really listen close. They rarely pop out in the mix.
Pop out no but they certainly add.
Therefore it modifies what is heard every time they add.
EDIT: The baseball bat on beer keg pops when used, I now disagree with more.
I think growing up listening to hard rock, metal, and country gave me a way to understand what they are saying. Having a crazy family helps me relate too. Music saved my life dude.
This is probably my favorite Slipknot song....the official video is pretty brutal but the song itself is just insane!

I’m glad you’re using lyric videos instead of music videos. I think you appreciate the song more this way so you’re Not overly distracted by the video. Also, you’re able to focus on lyrics and the meaning behind song. Nonetheless after this you should still check out the music video and react to it because that joint is on another level. 🤘🏽

If you love drums, go watch a joey jordison drum cam from london, crazy fast stuff, done by one guy. He was slipknots original drummer up until 2013.

Must see in concert, the energy they give is tense as hell. They had 3 levels on stage when I saw them last year at Slipknot Fest in Scranton,Pa. The venue I saw them in was outside, mountain top and insane.

My man, I love the reactions! Can't believe when recommending drum songs nobody has suggested the Drum Battle "Battalla de Los Tambores" by Godsmack. Their drummer Shannon Larkin, and the lead singer Sully Erna (also a highly talented drummer) in a drum duel. There's even a nod to Rush's YYZ.

Jay Weinberg is a goddamn beast, and was the perfect replacement for Joey Jordison. If you listen close, sometimes you can hear a little bit of Max's funk/jazz roots creep in, which adds a lot of depth to some of the songs.

7:53 it sounds like he has multiple limbs, but he’s actually use a heavy metal drum pattern/ technique call blast beats, where you use your wrists to play the snare, and cymbals at the same time quickly also while playing double bass patterns

The slipknot drummer is the best drummer in America and I'm not just saying that in my opinion hes actually won awards for his amazing performances and my mom is a drummer at our church in Edgerton Ohio

Check out some Gojira, Pantera, Avatar, HELLYEAH, Godsmack,HATEBREED, and Meshuggah . All these groups have great drummers. And on a little lighter but still very technical, check out Todd Sucherman from Styx. He is a amazing drummer.

yeah the chains thing...he's talking about his feeling of loss and betrayal. loss at losing their bassist, betrayal at joey jordison quitting the group (a little unfair as he had medical issues....) but yeah, its about the shift in group members and processing the change. the official video....is the inauguration of the new members...all of them dying in pretty grisly ways facing their individual fears
If you're looking for something a little different in the rock/metal genre, check out Mastodon. "The Motherload," "High Road," "Steambreather," and "Show Yourself" are among my favorites of theirs and their drummer is also one of the 2 main singers (depending on the song). Also check out about anything from the band, Ghost. They have a very specific gimmick, so don't let that deter you because their music is friggin great!

That song is Heavy as hell
Should check out Slayer if you love drums and Slipknot. The Drummer for Slayer, Dave Lombardo, is known as the godfather of the double bass. I suggest starting off with Seasons in The Abyss or Expendable Youth.
Check out Joey or Jay on their drum cam and you'll see how they do it. They each have live performances with the point of view behind them isolating their sound from the other band members.

My interpretation of this is that the singer is trapped, enchained by the idea the subject of the song believes them to be. "I'm not your devil anymore". And at the very least it seems the subject is projecting their own demons onto the singer.

You can’t take metal music lyrics at face value. It’s almost always written in a poetry form, often with plot twists, that needs to be listened to carefully. You’ll likely notice some inconsistencies and realize it’s not what you were thinking. Its really about the war inside yourself. Trying not to give into defeatism, trying not to give into negativity, trying not to give up. It's a struggle. It's one of the hardest thing you can do, is to give in to that side of yourself.

The song it a mix of two things. This was after his divorce with his (obviously) ex wife, and the death of the original drummer of the band. Then if you watch the video, every time they release a new video, there is a “cleansing of the old”, which can get pretty graphic. LOL! They have new masks for each new album they come out with, so they “kill” the old ones. The band may be heavy Nu Metal, but they have some deep stuff in their videos and lyrics.
You should definitely listen to Slipknot - Orphan with some nice headphones, Jay’s drumming is very fast and insane in that one.
