This is definitely the best romantic group ever assembled. They completely made magic together. I'm sure a lot of that has to do with their friendship but they are all just pure talent.

60 in 40🤘that’s an average of 1.5 times per year. I feel lucky to have gotten in 17 in 31. First time in Biloxi MS, Oct 84 to the last one in May 2015, NOLA. At least one show every tour from GUP🗜to R40🎂. Only multiple times on same tour was RTB 92💀🎲, CP 94🔩, T4E📡 and TM 2010-11🕰🍻🥃🍷🕘🇨🇦🥇

Interesting bit of music trivia: The sections titled “Monsters” on the studio album, for example at 7:22 and reprised later, feature a melody they and many of us of a certain generation heard featured on “Looney Tunes” cartoons from the 1960’s. It’s originally from a 1930’s big band tune called “Powerhouse”. The composer, Raymond Scott, later sold a lot of his catalog to Warner Brothers, who adapted some of it for their cartoons. Scott then went on to be a pioneer in experimental electronic music, while his big band catalog lived on in cartoons and many spinoff popular music references such this song by Rush, and a number of others. Rush didn’t know all this at the time they wrote this song, but Scott’s estate later contacted them about it, and the boys gladly paid royalties for their use of it. You can find performances of the original Powerhouse song here on UA-cam.
By the way, the Polka intro was just something they did as a goof on this tour.

The best live band that never needed top 40 radio air play to make it like Justin , Drake and others , when you go to a Rush concert you will get get three hours of magic each song will take you on a journey
This is definitely the best 3 man group by a large margine. The next 80 years we will see musicians that cant tell a difference between a note and a snickers bar.

La Villa strangiato was one of the tunes I used as a learning tool. It was regarded as technically challenging and if you could play it, it meant something. In reality, it's not very difficult at all when compared with a lot of jazz or classical pieces.
Greatest three piece? Yes!
Interesting you said said you'll never get to see them live.. of course I understand what you meant.. for me I got into Rush when I was 17 in 1988... And then I went to a lot of concerts I saw the grateful Dead I saw yes I saw pretty much everybody except for Rush and Genesis. In 2008 I was at work and my wife called me and said hey one of my co-workers has to Rush tickets that they can't use and I know you love Rush do you want them? That night I got to go see rush and I got up to the front row even though I had nosebleed seats. Such an incredibly awesome show. It was fun of course they were amazing and knowing the music inside and out and knowing how Alex and Getty use the technology with with the keyboard triggers and the bass pedals, I was watching and I would see his foot hover over up at all and I'd be like oh he's about to activate that piano part. It was just freaking awesome. It was awesome to be able to observe how they have used technology to maintain the integrity of them being a 3-piece or even though there are in a sense backing tracks Alex Getty and Neal all trigger these backing tracks live. It's amazing
This was based on a series of nightmares that Alex, the guitarist had. If you look at the original album, it's broken down in parts that give you a clue about starting off in a dream land and eventually being chased by monsters. It ends abruptly just like waking up, sitting up and going, glad that was a dream.

There is no equal, then again there is no one that is or ever will be anything close to RUSH
There are no bad versions of this song, but this is not my favorite because it does not include all of Alex's guitar work. I would say without a doubt the best live version was from "Exit Stage Left". I do love the circus intro, but I think the original intro is better. I think that Rush just wanted to shorten it because it is long. I have seen them live 10+ times and you hit the nail on the head. It is without a doubt the most amazing and fun concert experience. Every time was different, and I swore every time it was better than the last, but I think you just leave in such a hyped-up state that it feels like that way because they were just so amazing.
I'm sure you noticed the lone female in the audience, which was a rare occurence at a Rush concert; at one show, they counted seven females, and they called that a record. Alex wanted to know what it was like to have female fans, so he always had a row of Barbie dolls on his side of the stage; not to be outdone, when Geddy started to plug his bass guitar into the arena's sound system, he used his own assortment of crazy props to fill the space behind him, including washer-dryers, vending machines, rotisserie ovens, and even a popcorn popper. And now, if you want to see them do one of their biggest hits in front of an epic hometown crowd, I recommend The Spirit Of Radio live at Toronto's Downsview Park from 2003.

You ought to check out "Hemispheres" but not sure there's a full recording of it live so the studio version is just fine.

As far as trios go, I'd put the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Rory Gallagher's Taste and Cream far above Rush in my estimation (I was a big Rush fan in the late 70s, saw them live 4 or 5 times up to the Permanent Waves tour. I'm not really a fan anymore. Just lost interest in them after Permanent Waves)

This was the first of 2 songs in their encore (after an almost 3 hour concert), Working Man was the final song, check it out when you get a chance. Cleveland was the first US city to play their music. From Rush.com (they have lyrics and liner notes for all their albums) "Rather than sign with an existing label, Rush created their own, Moon Records, and pressed a few thousand copies. Cleveland DJ Donna Halper at WMMS was instrumental in making “Working Man” a cult hit and helped bring the band to the attention of Mercury Records." I believe they played their first US concerts in Cleveland in '74, just a few weeks after Neil replaced the original drummer John Rutsey.
