Saw these guys 10 times. Every time was amazing. Rush is the most talented band iv ever seen or heard. Been a musician for over 30 years myself and i cant touch these 3. They are the reason i play music to begin with, especially Neil. Heard them, was floored and wanted to play... Best band to ever do it.
Kudos to you,Rory!!❤❤ As a (waning) proud Canadian, and obligatory Rush fan(you know Rush fanship is part of our citizenship commitment, right?),I had never heard this version. Well done ,lad!😂❤
TOTALLY AWESOME!! COULD YOU IMAGINE BEING IN THAT RUSH CROWD? INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE BY EVERYONE WOW!! SOOO MUCH MUSIC COMING OUT OF THOSE SPEAKERS, ONLY 3 GUYS!! BEAUTIFUL GUITAR PLAYING ALEX 🎸🔥🔥🔥 IT'S LIKE DAVID GILMORE!! THE DRUMS AMAZING 🥁🔥🔥🔥 AND GEDDY AND HIS AWESOME BASS PLAYING!! SOOO MUCH GOING ON, JUST JAMMIN INCREDIBLE!! A LITTLE BLACK SABBATH 👂ALEX, JOKING AROUND, THAT WAS AWESOME!!! REMIND ME OF GORDIE DOWNIE. THIS IS INSANE!! INCREDIBLE REACTION RORY 💙 AND THANK YOU TODD FOR REQUESTING THIS GEM WOW!! LEGENDARY! 😊💓🔥🤘✌️
Yeah, gotta disagree. This is the worst video version of this song I've seen. You can barely hear the guitar most of the time. The mixing on this live version is terrible. Greatest instrumental ever, though.
I love watching your reaction to Rush , saw them 6 times , last 2 with my sons , made my son skip school for a first come first serve ticket sale , ended up front row in front of Geddy , boys loved every minute
That's close to my experience. Started listening around '76-'77, first show was 1981 Signals tour, saw every tour after that, only missed the Clockwork Angels tour, but caught the last tour, Palace of Auburn Hills, they recorded the next two shows in Toronto, and then finished up about 10 more shows, and that was it. We all knew it was likely the last show we would see, so some tears were shed. Three geniuses.
I love when Alex does introductions. There's a whole video out there on UA-cam of a compilation of Alex's introductions and it's really funny who he calls everyone
This was on 1978's Hemispheres and was based on his series of nightmares. Assuming it was written in 1977/78 then he was 24. Which doesn't change how crazy it is and how talented they are.
Lucky enough to see them play this live on my 16th bday in 1980, sans the weird bit in the middle 😆They absolutely murdered it in in this clip. Argentina, maybe? Great reaction, mate
Buddy, I’m 63 years old and this is still my favourite song ever, probably listened to this everyday of my life since I bought this album. When Alex goes off ranting is so funny.☮️🇨🇦
Listen to powerhouse by raymond scott, it was used in many cartoons in the 60's and 70's, it was the bit you first talked about sounding familiar. Although the copyright had expired, Rush compensated Mr Scott's estate for using a few seconds of his song.
Rush is the greatest collection of individual talent to ever grace the music industry. They were greater than led zepplin, The Who, only Cream is at their level!
Starting with this tour and continuing for several more tours, the part Where Alex just goes all "Jazz is weird!" was a feature (known as the ":Lerxst Rants") in every show - each one completely improved and different! Just Alex being Alex, with Geddy and Neal just along for the ride and ready (as always) to take off from Alex's brainstorms - like the "Guy From Ipanema" - totally off-the-cuff!
Enjoy your Rush journey. I'd look for a live version of most songs. They're usually pretty true to the studio but you actually get to see them do it. A tighter band you'll not find. A combination of virtuosity, power, and often--beauty (take off, it's a beauty way to go). Three of the greatest artists of all time.
Rory I'd love to jump into Mr Peabody's time machine with you and go back to the early 80's and hit a Rush concert with you. I'll bring the blunts. =8)
I've always thought the Arctic Monkeys were influenced by Rush! Never heard anyone else mention it till now. I swear one of their songs sounds like a straight lift from By Tor and the Snow Dog.
AGAIN. EVERYTIME. I SAY THE SAME THING. JUST 3 GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOBODY, I MEAN NOBODY COULD DO THIS EVER AGIAN, and never will.
The most incredible power trio that I have ever saw and enjoyed since 1977 Stanley Theater Pittsburgh PA.
Will never forget✌🏼
RUSH Canada's 3-man Progressive rock gift to the world! RIP Neal Peart!
Neil not Neal
this instrumental is about nightmares Alex used to have. so him saying "wake up" is appropriate.
3 of the greatest guys to ever roam the Earth. Not just outstanding musicians but truly outstanding people. RIP Neil, we miss you!
Alex had the best and most accurate speech about what an honor it is to be "indicted" (Neil's word) into the RRHOF.
Pure perfection - what else is there to say?
🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
Alex is so much fun. I love is Barbie Doll audience with their signs. 😁
Most Amazing Band Ever !

Rush is in a league of their own!
That is the best f****** video version of that song by Rush that I have ever seen thanks for jamming to this one brother

Absolutely incredible. And my favorite of all Alex "rants". Hilarious
I love this song and that was a fantastic performance! Alex🤣🤣❤❤❤
Alex Is Trippin'!!!🤣 I Love This Version😁
I consider myself so lucky that I was able to see these guys 15 times through the years starting in 1982 and ending in 2008
14 times between '80 and '07. You just pipped me!

G.O.A.T.s ... All three. 🤗

@@zimmyfan617 you rock!
The best ones were on the Counterparts Tour during “Closer to the Heart”
Gotta check Pinkerton Festival 1979LIVE i believe is the old live version for this tune..fresh and new back then.
A 9-minute track on the Hemispheres album. When it was finished I thought, "What? Already?" The shortest 9-minute track I ever heard.
I believe Alex wrote the music when he was 18! Man when I was that age, I was flipping burgers at McDonald's...
Can you share a link? I highly doubt it.

Great reaction as always Rory. Thanks for reacting to this often overlooked performance.

I'm 62!! I saw them 2 times in the 80s. I've Always Wondered WHY Didn't Alex do More Singing, at Least some Harmonies!!

Love the reaction. Let it play
this is my fave.❤
Mine too

From the Hemispheres album, one of Rush's most technically difficult songs.
2112 live remastered 1997 in Toronto, the best version live of this masterpiece. Also Natural Science, same concert. Musicianship at its best.
It was a nightmare Alex had was the background for this song❤🇨🇦 and we're Canadian its Y Y Zed😊
DUDE! Thank you

If time travel ever is possible, I’m on that shit
I like the way they did this.
Replacing the 70's key board with just the bass.
YYZed Rory. You're English!
It’s all ENGLISH 😂
@@Roryreacts Even the Canadian's themselves pronounce it with a hard Z.
I dont remember seeing your reaction to this, and I dont miss RUSH reactions. Was this reposted?
hey we're back to some GOOD Rush 😂

Stop a kick ass instrumental for a couple minutes to just fuck around, then jump back in without missing a beat. Truely professional musicians.
..
That's just 1 song on there vast collection Rush is so great
Talent beyond talent. And silly beyond silly. Combine the two...Rush.
