    So many reaction channels are only concerned about views so they only listen to the most popular songs - it's awesome to see someone who does it for the joy of discovering new music. I have always been a fan of the deep tracks and going through the whole album to find those gems. For me, this album took a few listens to really grow on me. Thanks for giving the album some love!!!! Looking forward to the next one, and stay safe in that heat!

    If I had to draw comparisons, "All The Way" would almost be a cross between mid-70s Status Quo and early Kiss, while "Troubleshooter", with its guitar riffs and unison backing vocals, would remind me more of Bon Scott-era AC/DC (it wouldn't have sounded out of place on their Highway to Hell album). "On the Run" has a heavy boogie rhythm and is an excellent closing track. I think that once you've listened to Point of Entry in its entirety several times, you'll like "All The Way" and "Troubleshooter" a lot more, because they fit in well with the other tracks on the album. Point of Entry remains the very last Judas Priest album that I enjoy. I never liked Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith & co. in which I no longer find any nuance, probably due to the heavier orientation and also because of the overboosted production typical of the mid-80s with metronomic, artificial-sounding drums. By comparison, Point of Entry is much closer to a 70s production.

    This second half of the album just shows the transition between BS and SFG. The choruses are under developed and in between but appreciate it for the time capsule it is. Not the best but not the worst. Some of these are fillers. The difference is the song writing from the guitar writing! The guitars are the stand out here. But they grew exponentially from here to the next album!

    The record company wanted to capitalize on British Steel and forced them to put out another album quick and this is what they came up with which is not bad at all. I remember interview with Rob where he said they did the whole album real quick. They can do no wrong in my book. Priest!!!

    People were expecting British Steel part 2 when this was released. Admittedly, I was one of them, and was disappointed by this one. Heading Out To The Highway, Desert Plains and and Solar Angels were the standouts on this one. But it was missing something. There was a lot of filler on this one. Point Of Entry is a solid 2.5 out of 5. But the next one blows this one out of the water.

    Solar Angels is one of the best Priest tracks, so original, they've played it live but it doesn't come close, was a time Halford really pushed his vocals into new territory, Tipton could write the coolest songs from the simplest of riff ideas, add a flange, there's an entire song there somewhere

    On the tour for this album, Solar Angels was the opening song. You could hear the guitars chugging, but no one was on stage yet. Then Glenn and KK slowly emerged from the top of the risers on each side of the stage. Pretty awesome stuff for a 16 YO seeing his first concert!

    • @a.k.1740

      Most of the bonus tracks on the 2001 remasters have nothing to do with the original albums on which they were added. "Thunder Road", for example, has nothing to do with Point of Entry, having been recorded in 1988 during the Ram It Down sessions. It's best to take all these bonus tracks separately... or to put them back in the context in which they were originally intended (which is not the case on these remasters).

      Ditto! I've always found British Steel to have almost more sonic similarities with Screaming for Vengeance than with Point of Entry, which I would have considered more of a sequel to Killing Machine. Despite its more straightforward approach on the surface I find Point of Entry more inspired than the two albums that surround it.

  • @a.k.1740
    @a.k.1740 2 дні тому

    Like the album cover, which reminds me of an aeroplane wing against a sunset backdrop, the atmosphere of "Solar Angels" is ethereal, evocative of wide open spaces. The generally unloved "You Say Yes" (not by me!) is at once incisive, groovy and festive. You'd put its main riff closer to Van Halen, and it's true that there can be some of that, but for my part it reminds me more of Led Zeppelin from Presence or something like that. I'm glad you've enjoyed all these Point of Entry tracks so far, and I'm pretty sure the last three will be to your taste too!😉

    I have to admit that it has been decades since I've heard 'You Say Yes', and once you compared it to a VH track, I couldn't un-hear that. Even the breakdown was vintage VH. On another note, 'Solar Angel's was a top ten favorite from them through the 80's. I love 'Sin After Sin', and that track reminds me of that album so much. It's getting better and better.
