Same as my mk7 when i had it. Trapped 105 with jb4 map 2. I didnt liked the feel of the jb4 and kept loosing races. I switched to full apr stage 2 and instantly trap 110 and finally start winning races. The full ecu tune hits way harder earlier and pulls much cleaner topend. If i wouldve known i probably wouldnt waste money on the jb4.
I'll be testing multiple tunes on this build to show everyone how well or how poorly everything works. That way, it helps consumers decide what they'd like to spend their money on.
@chrisjay7736 and as soon as you tuned your ECU, you lost your powertrain warranty. I'm hoping to showcase how far a JB4 alone can get you for those that don't want to risk losing their warranties.
Yeah that was the reason I had the JB4 in the first place and it was a lot of fun playing around with and a good community on the mk7 forum. @@VancityAudi
Really fun to see a new platform! Please ignore the hate, your testing process is proven. Sorry the B9 failures seem to be ramping up, but you pushed that car to a "daily" limit anyway. Happy to see the videos rolling!
Love your videos!! I’m in Victoria; have a ‘09 GTI. CTS Turbo KO4. APR ECU and DSG tune. Very little traction in 1st and 2nd gear. Had a hard time keeping ahead of a CX-5 the other day from a stoplight dig. Seems the more power you give this car the slower it becomes d/t wheel spin. Given how much money I’ve spent trying to make this car ‘faster’…wish I’d just bought an R…
Thanks for watching! Hopefully along my build path, a tuner will have figured out boost by gear to allow less power down low to maintain traction in the lower gears!
Enjoy it man. A Golf R would’ve given you you way more bang for buck when it came to bolt-in’s and tuning it but that I can’t hate you for trying to save some money
Did a JB4 on my regular Golf 1.8 TSI and it made a world of a difference. The biggest gains were with ~E20-25, and had George from Burger Tuning fine tune the custom Map 6 settings for me! I'm sure you'll also go down that route in pretty short order ;)
Very cool! I'll be checking out all the pre-made maps for sure. Not sure I'll be running any of the custom maps seeing as I always try and showcase the OTS stuff for my viewers.

I know you're tired of hearing the comments about FWD, but welcome to the internet. ;) I'm not at all surprised that you're dealing with wheelspin and your car is still practically stock. I think you should have picked up an F87 BMW M2C rather than the GTI. The S55 engine puts out 405 HP stock. It's the same engine that's used in other models of M2/M3/M4 that puts out up to 493 HP from the factory. The only difference is the tune and you can install different tunes using your phone, just like you can with the JB4. If you change the downpipes and the intakes, well over 600 HP is possible. If you want to go really crazy with upgraded turbos and methanol injection, 750-850 HP is within reach. That's with stock internals, although some people would recommend also pinning the crank hub if you're going for high HP. These engines are very strong. Another alternative would be a Mk7 R. They are pretty easy to come by and have more potential than a GTI for drag racing due to the AWD. (Although as a BMW guy, driving an M2C, I would stay it's time to mix things up a bit.)
@caralexrod Well, if you read or watched anything I wrote or showed in my recent UA-cam videos and/or social media posts before you made rude comments, you'd know that I still own the B9 S4 and am going to repair it and run a 9 second run before I sell it.
Rude ! Don’t be mad at me, be mad at the car it’s crap. And yes I know you have the s4 that’s why I’m still here watching, cheering you on. But it doesn’t change the fact it would make more sense spending the money on fixing the S4. After watching you get down to to 10.00 it’s sad to watch you prancing around running 13s, save the money for the s4. You have a mission to complete. God bless, best of luck, I’m rooting for you, get that 9.99 Adam !

Just to give more context my mk7 gti trapped 109 on jb4 only, 7psi add and E30. With bolt-ons and EQT ecu/tcu software on E30 it trapped 116.

Get belak 15x8's up front, mk7 non-pp brakes, and MH 24.5x8.5x15'S
You'll get into the 1.6's all day maybe even 1.5's
I don't plan on downgrading the brakes on this build, so I'm sticking with 17's. Thanks for the recommendations though.
Woah….might consider now that my s4 is also blown and I need a reliable daily.
It's been way more fun to drive, but not nearly as fast.

What I want to know is how did Car and Driver get a 5.1 0-60 and run a 13.5@105 mph with a bone stock Mk8 GTI with the DSG??
That's an excellent question. Is there a video of it? Or are those just the performance numbers they share publicly?
That gas is super cheap at $1.73 usd Premium

No
You can double tap the map gauge in the gauges page and it takes you to the map menu

I've already dyno tested it, and the footage is coming to the channel soon. As for the dogbone mount, that isn't why the car has difficulty launching.
Good runs. Why did you go with JB4? Does IE or Unitronic have tunes for it?
I wanted to see how well or how poorly a JB4 worked before I tuned the car. I've seen so many people use them and I had never experienced one before.
try the new chevron 94, apparently they all have 10% Eth now
It has up to 10% ethanol now. I'll be retesting the fuel in the upcoming months.
